Can a bruised and beaten Englischer from Detroit find a new beginning in Lancaster County?
When Julia Hammond crawled off the bus, she didn’t care where she was. She needed only to be far enough from her abusive boyfriend for him never to lay a hand on her again. When she wakes up in an Amish home a few days later, she feels out of place and starts making plans to start her new life.
James Hostetler knows his mother means well, but having an Englischer stay with them could mean trouble. Ever since his father had passed away six years ago James has taken it upon himself to care for his mother and his four siblings, putting his own dreams aside. Unexpectedly he is drawn to the Englischer and fights against the growing attraction knowing the day would come for her to leave.
During Julia’s recovery time she finds herself slowly falling in love with tall dark-haired Amish man. She knows nothing can come of it; they live in different worlds. James starts to realize that Julia is more than just an Englischer; she’s kind and caring with a generous soul, but she is still an Englischer.
Will Julia find the life she’s been longing for? Can James learn to love regardless of her background?
Follow this sweet romance and find out if Julia and James can build their own futures or forever be burdened by the past.
Super cute, wholesome and engaging. Perfect day read especially if you want to skip the heavy content of PA in a relationship and want to get right into the romance. The writing also felt more authentic than a lot of Amish romance novels which kept interest. Great takeaways from a difference in lifestyle.
I’m not one for spoiler reviews giving a synopsis of the book, just genuine reaction to the story.
