In an extracurricular experience gone hilariously wrong, innocent Takashi Tono accidentally joins a club that puts the “dick” in “valedictorian.”
Despite bright-eyed Takashi Tono’s trepidations about starting at an all-boys’ school far away from the bustle of Tokyo, he thinks he may have lucked out when he quickly meets a perky fellow first-year who’s friendly and helpful. And cute! Lulled by euphoria, Takashi decides to really live up his school days and join a club. But Takashi’s in for a sexy shock when he investigates the photography club and learns that its members have an ardent passion for something else entirely! Although Takashi would rather unsee the censor-bar-worthy acts on view just beyond the clubroom door, he’s roped into joining! Can this virgin survive a day, much less the whole school year, as part of the school’s most lascivious club?
Tanaka Ogeretsu (おげれつたなか) is a Japanese manga artist. She uses this name for her Boys Love manga production. She also publishes non-BL manga under the name Marumero Tanaka (たなか マルメロ).
As a queer person, and a part of the mlm/nblm community, it goes without saying that this book does a number of things to tear down the safe spaces that the mlm community has built for themselves.
1. It’s Literal Child Porn
The many of the characters in the manga engaging in these acts are minors, and it is clearly stated so in the manga and the anime, despite some claims that in the manga series the characters are in college, upon further investigation, it actually turned out to be a translating error. I don’t know why the author, a perfectly capable adult woman feels the need to write and draw literal child porn, and continue to fetishize queer people in a way like this, but then again, I also don’t know why more people haven’t been as vocal about it as they should be.
2. Non-Con
Do I even need to explain why depicting minors in non consentual sexual situations is wrong? Even in the cases of BDSM roleplaying, the scenes are discussed and planned out long before hand, making sure that both parties are completely comfortable with everything that might be done or said. In the manga, they frequently throw around non-con or loose consent and write it as though it’s nothing.
3. MLM Fetishization
I can’t understand why more people don’t call out straight women for their creepy obsessions with gay guys. I can’t understand why we don’t defend the mlm community as we protect the wlw community from such behaviours. The mlm community doesn’t want to be your objects. We don’t want to be ogled at, lusted over, or turned into your own objects of personal gratification just because you think that being gay is something “cute”.
Please, just stop hurting us, our community, and these safe spaces that we’ve fought so hard to create.
I mean this manga is fucking hilarious. It’s like a parody of the whole Yaoi fandom. I would say that this suits people with dark humor because there might be some jokes some poor innocent souls might find disturbing. But I like it. Pure comedy
If I hadn't seen the OVA prior to reading this I would have enjoyed it a lot more. That usually isn't a problem for me so I'm not sure why this particular manga is an exception. I'm so used to animes censoring or completely eliminating explicit scenes that I look forward to reading the manga so I can get the full scenes. Sometimes those sex scenes don't add anything to the story but in some cases they are crucial to fully understanding the dynamic between the seme and the uke. How they treat each other in bed says a lot about their relationship.
Well, the OVA left nothing out so I didn't see anything new in the manga. Also, this isn't even that kind of story so even if it had left out the sex (though how could it given the whole premise of the story) witnessing it in the manga wouldn't have added anything anyway. This story is neither deep nor overly emotional. Its a comedy about a group of "fuckboys and mansluts" meant purely for laughs.
I sort of knew that coming in but I wanted to read this anyway. The OVA ended abruptly without any closure so I wanted to know what happened to Tono. Looks like I'm going to have to read more volumes to find out. 3 stars

(I have decided not to rate it.)
I've now re-read volumes 1-4 back-to-back and I stand by my previous opinion: combining comedy with this kind of sexual content doesn't work for me because so much of it is based on non-consensual situations. The intention of the manga is certainly not for the story to be taken very seriously, and it doesn't want to be realistic - I understand that, but it just makes me uncomfortable. So I really have a hard time with this manga, because despite the disturbing atmosphere, the characters and their relationships and everyday problems, in general, are interesting, like Yaguchi's hang-ups when it comes to Kashima.
Why did titktok say this was good. The anime's theme song slaps but the story does not. Why are there so many non-con sexual encounters and why are they used as gags. I don't remember if it was this one or the other one but using the threat of being gang-raped as a way to force two characters to start dating is not a good setup thx.
Reading this manga requires a sense of disbelief. There's a lot of sexual energy here that's going to throw readers off, whether you're familiar with the BL genre or not. For me, I had heard about this series for a few years thanks to the Internet, although I first found out about it through a Haikyuu fanfic parodying the main plot: A transfer student arrives at a school deep, deep in the mountains, joins the Photography Club, which happens to not be the Photography Club. Then an OVA series was green-lit, and I watched parts of it when the first episode was still uploaded on YouTube. However, I didn't want to read the manga until it got an official licensed release in the US, which at this time last year, seemed unlikely.
Then Viz Media and SuBLime announced the acquisition of the series with the first volume coming out in November, I found this in Barnes & Noble on Black Friday, and truth be told, I wasn't leaving my local mall without a copy. Thankfully, I had some leftover birthday spending money.
I think Tanaka started off this series on a good note. The love triangle subplot between Tono, Yu, and Kyosuke is starting off well, especially because there's more to Kyosuke than meets the eye. Regarding my second status update, he doesn't like boys romantically, but looking at the Wikipedia page for this franchise, a secret regarding his true feelings towards Kashima will be revealed. There's also a good amount of chemistry between the three men, and despite Kashima lying to the club about he and Tono being in a relationship, I feel parts of that will change soon. Tanaka's art is great, with each main character having their own unique design, fun facial expressions, and beautiful scenery. I'm also enjoying her taping into parts of her characters' personalities you wouldn't expect them to have. Besides Kyosuke, there's more to Ayato than the person who blabbers incoherent nonsense. Not only is he smart, but he seems to be very perceptive towards Jimmy's feelings towards him (even though their arc doesn't start off on the best note). My favorite has to be Tamura, though. Even though he's very assertive and rough around the edges, he doesn't know how to act around Kyosuke, who he is desperately crushing on. It's quite funny to see that contrast in action.
Insignificant questions regarding the club aside (when did the Photography Club turn into the Bitch Club? Do they only have sex in the school and not in the school's dorms?), I'm not sure where Tono's development is going to go. He seems quite static so far, and I'm unsure how that's going to change as the series continues. While parts of the sex-fueled comedy are funny (the side notes, for example), there are parts that do fall flat, especially the ones that involve lack of consent. I also have some minor quibbles with the sex scenes (though some are quite hot), but compared to Ten Count, at least we get some with consent present (minus the bonus chapter).
Regardless, at least there was more here with this first volume that I'm excited to find out about. While not without its problems, Yarichin Bitch Club is still pretty entertaining, and I'm curious to see where we'll go next. I know there's a school trip and a focus on Itome, but what else? I'll have to wait and see.
I'm so disappointed!!! I was expecting an over-the-top comedy, but most of the "comedy" fell flat. Don't get me wrong, some of it worked, especially when the MC was pointing out how absolutely absurd everything was, sadly there just wasn't enough of that. And at times the sexual harassment went overboard, and made me pretty uncomfortable . I did like the dynamic between our MC, Toono, and fellow club member, Yuu; I really felt like there was a solid romance building between them, one that was really cute and healthy. But when the story wasn't focused on them, it was boring, and unfunny (like I mentioned before). I did give the anime OVA a watch, and it made it a bit funnier, but my other problems still stand. At the very least, we got an amazing song out of it (seriously, go listen to it, you will die lolol).
really silly comedy with major sexual overtones. the main story is really promising and the characters seem to all have backstory waiting to be uncovered. I find it really hard to enjoy the comedic aspect of this when Tono does nothing but complain about men who love men. Half of his lines are "WHAT??? A MAN CAN KISS A MAN???" it gets old very quickly, especially since it's clear that he's not all that straight. anyways I want to look like Yuri 😩
fair warning as there is a lot of non-con stuff from kissing to straight up r*pe.
I can't believe I read this LOL. Unfortunately, I spent much of the volume feeling a little sick to my stomach, as the content of the story was so sexually charged and full of dubious consent that it was pretty painful to read. I also didn't find the art that great despite distinctive character designs.
Before Reading:
I've gone back and forth on whether or not I should read this, and I will at some point, but honestly, pray for my sanity.
This manga is so weird. It was just okay for me. It's too sexual. It's like "What the fuck is this all about?" I mean, there's no story! It's almost all sex sex sex. It's frustrating. The concept is not that good.
you know what this was fun. You have to get over the unrealistic premise of the plot and some usual grumbles of yoai, but nothing to bad compared to the other things I read. It was a fun read, but I hope the next volumes have a bit more plot.
This volume was so fun! This is essentially a comedy with really hot sexy. They use toys, get messy, the full nine gay yards. It has some problematic tropes: Cousins, Straight (NOT GAY) boys that have sex with boys, ect. But it's a fun read. A good read if you turn your brain off.
I have....no words.... (but I'll still leave a review)
I read this because the title sounded funny and I thought, what the heck. Nothing could go wrong! Yeah...uhhh well, you see....this was something else. Now before you think I hated this book entirely, you're wrong. I thought this book was hilarious! Weird, but hilarious!
Takashi is a new student at the school and has decided to join the "Photography Club". Innocent right? Until he walks in the door and....well...I won't get into detail...buuuuuut....it was definitely rated R stuff. The Photography Club is actually kind of a sex club for students.
Yes, it was awkward and there were some themes I didn't really approve of (jokes about noncon), and there were moments I was blushing whenever things got steamy. But! There is a but in there! I did not hate it. There were moments where I was bursting out laughing at the most random things! Each character had their own personality and had something to bring to the table. I keep wondering which guys are going to end up with one another and I'm curious to see where the story goes.
Like I said, if you don't want to see things like sex, jokes about noncon, and filthy language, then this book might be a little too much for you. But overall, if you need a good laugh, this is probably the title for you.
