When real estate tycoon Bucky Bloom is found stuck to the end of a sailboat mast, a land war erupts in Pineapple Port! Charlotte is commissioned to solve Bucky’s murder, but soon finds herself embroiled in a competition masterminded by Declan’s crazy ex, the ever-nefarious Stephanie.
Amy Vansant is a Wall Street Journal and USA Today best-selling author who writes with an unique blend of thrills, romance and humor (occasionally with a touch of time travel or fantasy). Check out the Pineapple Port Mystery series or her Urban Fantasy Thriller, the Kilty Series! Another easy to read cozy in the Pineapple Port series. Charlotte's nemesis, Stephanie, is again up to her neck in creating havoc for Charlotte. Stephanie is one of those characters that I love to hate. She also gives me the creeps. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series in hopes it will be without her for a break from her psychotic machinations.
Pineapple Land Wars by Amy Vansant I requested, and received, a copy of this book from the author in exchange for and honest review. Here, then, is my honest review. Pineapple Land Wars by Amy Vansant is book 4 in the Pineapple Port Mystery series. As always, it is twisty, adorable, and funny. I love how these characters interact, and I especially love how Vansant creates living images for me. I nearly doubled over with the cow wrangling. It still makes me smile. This very talented author uses her magic to weave mysteries withing mysteries and it is something wonderful in its entirety. You really should give this one a try. I have no doubt that you will be hooked.
“Pineapple Land Wars” earns 5/5 Murderous Masts, Mates!
Older man, younger mistress, older man dead, scorned widow… Ok, I’ve seen enough crime dramas to know it’s often the proverbial “the wife did it” solution, but with Amy’s signature twists and turns this amateur sleuth won’t be fooled! Bucky fell (or was he pushed) from the rooftop deck of his condo and “Like a cocktail olive” right onto the mast of his sailboat. Penny, owner of the Pineapple Port facility, is oddly thrilled since now a large tract of land could be easier to buy with its owner dead. But that property is also in the sights of Tabby, another developer, and Charlotte’s being hired by Penny to help facilitate her efforts to sabotage the opponents bid for the property. But, what else will she find? Bucky’s extra-curricular friendships? Penny’s 1969?Tabby’s 1988? Amy also sprinkles in characters rich with the ‘quirky,’ like Blade with his eye patch, two-legged cat, and captivating tales ending in a sale or two at Declan’s pawn shop. The absorbing story, engaging characters, and “WOW, I didn’t see that coming!” ending make Amy Vansant a favorite…
"Disclosure: A review copy of this book was sent to me by the author. However, all of the above opinions are my own.”
I've come to the conclusion there is an evil genius hiding inside Amy Vansant. She has once again written an amusing, convoluted mystery that kept me guessing right up to the last page.
Returning to Pineapple Port we find Charlotte and Declan continuing to enjoy each others company. They are finding it hard to have alone time due to Charlotte's neighbors who feel they can enter at will and Declan's Uncle Seamus whose stay was suppose to be temporary when he showed up many months ago.
Penny, owner of Pineapple Port, hires Charlotte when she hears Bucky Bloom is dead. When Charlotte asks why, Penny tells her "Just keep your eyes and ears open." Charlotte is happy for the job because this should put her over the 40 hours needed to complete the internship for her private investigators license. They arrive at the home of Cora Bloom, Bucky's widow and the plot thickens. This is just one thread of the mystery. Was Bucky's death accidental? Why is Stephanie, Declan's exgirlfriend, representing Cora? What do Penny and Tabitha have in common?
This story is good. We learn a bit more about Blade the new employee at Hock o' Bell. He may look unorthodox but he has a way with the customers and he sells items that Declan thought would remain in the store forever. The characters are multi layered, each true to the personality that has evolved up to now. I know I can count on Ms Vansant to entertain me when I buy one of her books.
Kindle Unlimited although must have gotten the first one on a freebie day or whatever. Cute little mysteries, but my problem was that they were also a bit too chick cutesy, but if you don't have ick factor on that then may well be a 5 star for you. They probably go in to the 'cozy' variety which no big deal about that just explaining, do read lot of those myself. Relatively quick fun read, depending on your reading speed/preference of course.
A Pineapple Port Mystery Pineapple Lies 1 Pineapple Mystery Box 2 Pineapple Puzzles 3 Pineapple Land War 4 Pineapple Port Mysteries (4 Book Series)
Reread them, still a bit too girly to me, but less whatever on second reading and it was interesting books {read all 4}
How the plots thicken.....Man this was a good one. I really think Charlotte will figure things out soon. I I am really enjoying this series. I am so excited cannot wait for the next one to come out later this year. If you haven't picked these books up you need to they are awesome. The characters are witty and unique. The book has several laugh out loud moments. The mystery and suspense will keep you on your toes with every twist and turn. Then you think you got it all figured out and then Bam! something else happens and the way you thought something was going to go doesn't go that way. Patiently waiting for the next book. Happy reading!
I love the PINEAPPLE PORT MYSTERIES. STEPHANIE IS SUCH A TERRIFIC VILLAIN CHARLOTTE, DECLAN ,SEAMUS are fun to read as they try to keep ahead of STEPHANIE, and DARLA AND MARISKA just add to the laughter.
Another fast, furious, & fun addition to the Pineapple Port Cozy Mystery series. Author Amy Vansant is keeping the pineapples flowing with these entertaining cozier. The story starts with a familiar scene- (rich) older man Bucky & his much younger mistress are getting ready for a big night out. But then, the big twist- Bucky ends up strung up on the mast of a sailboat, causing a lot of commotion. Of course, Bucky has a (age-appropriate) wife at home, Cora, and he owns the land the butts up against Pineapple Port, which owner Penny has wanted for years. Of course, rival 55-plus community owner Tabitha also wants Bucky's land. And, as it turns out, there's more than just rival communities between Penny & Tabitha- they are also twins, with their own secrets involving Bucky. Or so they thought. "Condolence" calls to widow Cora unveil that Cora is aware of much more than anyone dreamed. In order to get the land, Penny & Tabotha will need to dance- or arm wrestle- to Cora's tune. Of course, nothing is as it seems. Declan, our heroine Charlotte's boyfriend's, ex Stephanie is wielding strings like an evil puppet master. And her serial-killer mother is still around, getting Stephanie to help her. Meanwhile, Charlotte is trying to get enough hours to get her PI license, Declan is trying to get Uncle Seamus to get out of his house long enough to have some private time with Charlotte, & Charlotte's "pseudo grand-parents"- the residents of Pineapple Port that all helped raise her- are trying to stay involved. This boooncan stand alone as a fun Cozy Mystery with some excitement, but it's better when read after books 1-3. Treat yourself to the series; it's worth it. No spoilers, but anytime you have a two-legged car walking around, well, it's a good thing! The writing is fresh & the story is inventive. Enjoy. I was provided a copy in exchange for an honest review.
To start with, the copy of this book I received was in exchange for an honest review.
So, our story of the Pineapple Port detective continues. I said in my review of her first book, this has the makings of a ensemble cast comedy. (Netflicks are you listening?) This does nothing to change how I feel. The characters stay true to the form set up for them in the opening three books. So there is no surprise there. The surprise is in how this author can take some of the typical things in life and weave a great mystery story out of them. I recommend that if you do not know the players then you should look at books 1 to 3 in the series. Basically, Charlotte is a 25 year old woman who lives in a retirement neighborhood called Pineapple Port. If you have to ask why, well you need to read the early books in the series. She is trying to get her Private Eye Licence (again, read the early books) and helps her boyfriend's and her neighbor's husband the police man to qualify for the hours.
Into all of this a man falls off a balcony on to the mast of his boat and dies. Was it a murder or an accident. Our hero is hired to find out but only because the owner of Pineapple Port wants to buy the land that is up for sale because of her death and so does someone else. Who ever solves the mystery and some other silly events, will get the land.
My only down side to the book is that the bad person still gets to go free again. But a good villain is a horrible thing to waste. The good part is that we are introduced to a two legged cat. Yes, I said that right.
Recommenced it to people who are looking for a light mystery with a lot of humor.
After a wealthy man, Bucky Bloom, is impaled on his boat’s mast, a fight breaks out between two sisters each of whom is ready and willing to do anything necessary to become the owner of Cow Town. It’s a piece of land Bucky owned, and the sisters are willing to bow down to the demands of Cora, Bucky’s wife, in the hopes of owning that land. Throw in an amateur sleuth, Charlotte who figures out that things aren’t exactly as they appear, Charlotte’s boyfriend’s uncle, a licensed investigator, the odious Stephanie, an attorney, and Cora, and you have a hands up free for all. It’s a delightful story with a big surprise of an ending when we learn what really happened to Bucky. I can’t say that I was overly fond of either of the sisters, but I suspect I wasn’t meant to be.
This is the first book in this series that I’ve had the pleasure to read. I thought this book stood by itself, and I didn’t feel that I’d missed anything by starting with this book which is book four in the series. I enjoyed the zaniness and the humor very much, especially the scene in the toy store. I’m looking forward to reading more of these cute and slightly silly cozy mysteries.
The narrator did a fabulous job performing this book. She offered a wide range of voices, accents, and tones to help distinguish the characters. I was impressed with her skill.
I received a free copy of this book from the author. While I thank her for generosity, it had no effect on my review. All opinions in this review express my true and honest reactions to listening to this audiobook.
When Bucky, the local lothario is found dead impales on a ships mast it sparks a land war for Cow Town, a property he owned and refused to sale. When Penny, the owner of Pineapple Port senior community finds out she hires Charlotte to help sway the widow to see her that land over her twin sister, Tabby who owns the competing property, Silver Lake. Unbeknownst to them the widow is away of her husbands affairs including the fact that they both slept with him. In comes Stephanie whose mother wants her to get that property too. So she convinces the widow Cora to hold a contest and whoever wins the most will get the property. This is just the start of the hijinks that starts the fun! Meanwhile, Seamus’ archer rival from Miami is lured to town by working for Tabby. This is the funniest book in the series! It added new characters who are just as nutty as the rest of the residents! I loved this book , this series and this author! If you are looking for a quick, easy, funny action packed book or series then this is for you!
The clash of the Titans as the owner/ founder of Pineapple Port faces her twin in a competition for land adjacent to Pineapple Port. Stephanie faces off with her mom, and works both with and against Charlotte. Another 5 star read!
Details about hidden flings, filleted lotharios, and a body dump hidden in the land Charlotte works to help win for Pineapple Port. Stephanie seems to manipulate things so she gets what she wants, including the land - excepting a pile of cow patties well pitched by the sometimes less sweet Charlotte. The pifalls of driving a convertible.
A voluntary review from an arc copy.
Got hooked on the series with an instafreebie, and am enjoying purchasing Amy Vansant books and suggested titles since then.
Do darker times for Charlotte lie ahead? Should she hang on to her friends and let go out Declan?
Will it be a life or death scenario in the much awaited fifth Pineapple Port book? Waiting with breath held!
Pineapple Land War by Amy Vansant This is another very cleverly written book about the inhabitants of Pineapple Port Retirement village. Charlotte, lives in her deceased grandmother’s home. Darla and Mariska had taken their friend’s granddaughter under their wing and Charlotte never knew a day completely to herself ever again. Still it was sort of comforting to have them close. Getting involved in a land war which elderly twins were battling over had been bad enough, but having to deal with her boyfriend’s horrible ex was not fun at all. The latest were bugs that Charlotte suspected were all over Declan’s home, even under his bed! If only she could wish the ex away for good! This series is so funny and you couldn’t possibly guess what will happen next. I was given this book but the review is all mine. If I could advise one thing, it’s don’t put off reading this book!
When Bucky Bloom suddenly dies, Charlotte is hired to find out if his death is really an accident. Twin sisters who each own a retirement community vie for a piece of his property that adjoins to both of theirs expand. Stephanie, Declans psychotic ex-girlfriend will oversee the contest. Whoever wins a set of contest will be the winner. But unknown to them there is a silent unknown person trying to get the land also. Will the person who wins the contest get the land? Amy continues this story with her natural flair for descriptions and her ability to draw the reader into the story that you just don't want to put the book down. There is plenty to laugh about in the story, and we learn a little more about some of the characters backgrounds.
4 stars I purchased Pineapple Land Wars (Pineapple Port Mystery #4) by Amy Vansant and this review was given freely. Read March 2017. Pineapple Land Wars balances a Cozy Mystery with the continuing sweet romance of Charlotte and Declan with the continuing interference of Stephanie as she continues to protect her mother. Amy Vasant focuses heavily on Charlotte, Seamus, Declan , Stephanie, and a returning person from Seamus' past, Eddie. The Murder mystery is compelling and balanced well by the drama and comic relief of Penny competing with her twin. The novel brings a sense of closure to the series as Charlotte completes her training hours and is 1 step closer to obtaining her PI license.
This is book #4 of the Pineapple Port series. Our girl Charlotte gets involved in another case, hoping this one will give her enough hours to get her private eye license. Cora's husband Bucky owns the lot called Cow Town. Penny and her twin sister have been trying to buy it for years. It's right in between Pineapple Port and the neighboring competing retirement community. The Bucky dies rather spectacularly, and Penny and her sister both descend on the widow to bid on Cow Town. Charlotte gets retained by Penny to help her get the land. You can imagine how shocked she is when the widow decrees that the contestants must compete to decide who will get the land, and that the contests are mediated by Stephanie. The book has lots of nutty stuff in it to make you smile.
This is the fourth book in the Pineapple Port Mystery series. We get to follow Charlotte in her quest to get her Investigators license when she has to find out how Bucky, the philandering husband of Cora died. Up for grabs is the purchase of Cow Town a prized piece of land owned by him. There are many twists and turns and a lot of quirkiness. We get to find out more about Stephanie and her murderous mother. As in the previous books, Amy leaves us with just enough of a teaser that will be answered in the next book. I enjoyed reading this story and look forward to reading the next one.
I can finally say bandana is one of my favorite authors, love her style of mystery writer with a touch of humor. These series gets better and better. Charlotte on the hunt of how a member who lives in pineapple port, who is also the owner of 55 plus retirement village wants the land called cow town a pasted and in bidding war with her sister who wants the land too. And solving the mystery of who killed the owner. You need to read the series in order to know the characters in the story. I feel that I know them and can relate to them as I have some wacky friends. You will enjoy the series.
A continuation of the series Pineapple Port Mysteries, our characters a young woman named Charlotte living in a retirement community becoming a private detective, her boyfriend Declan who owns a thrift store, his uncle, his ex-girlfriend and her mother a psychopath, plus all the people in the retirement community. Escapades and craziness, murders and mayhem would all describe this series.
Each book in this series develops off the previous one, though mew murders need to be solved in each book. You can not stop with one, but I will take a break and finish some other books I have been reading.
Cozy Mystery, Cow Pastures, and Philanderers This is book 5 in a series that should be read in order to get the most enjoyment. This book has a very good plot and some very funny scenes. The end is a surprise and a bit of a puzzle. This entire series has good mysteries, a nice, romantic subplot with no sex, bad language, or gore. It is not the typical cozy where the author goes over the top with hobbies, cooking, fashion, or pairing wines with mind-numbing detail. Instead, these are mysteries that make you think with a good portion of humor added. I am currently binge-reading the series and am enjoying laughing myself to tears!
What a conniving array of characters that will draw you into this cozey mystery murder tale, you'll also be reintroduced to the colorful, quirky and charming characters that live in the retirement community and small town of Pineapple Port .All will entice you with their favorite pass time town drama while the plot unfolds enticing you further through intrigue, petty squabbles, misdeeds and murder. You will certainly be captivated and entertained throughout, not wanting to miss a thing. Acquire " Pineapple Land War " Book Four in the ( Pineapple Port Mysteries) for hours of intriguing and enjoyable entertainment. Kat
I really do love the Pineapple Port Community. This is definitely one of my favorite series' of books. They all revolve around a young lady named Charlotte who grew up in an over 55 community. Most all of the people living there are her quasi-grandparents. This is a fun read with quite a few laughs. Come on over to Pineapple Port and bumble you way through with Charlotte, and help solve some mysteries while you are at it. I was gifted a copy of this book and chose to read and review it. I was not compensated in any way for this review.
This is another great read from Amy Vansant. A man dies in a most strange way and a piece of land wanted by two opposing women now becomes available for sale. Charlotte is hired by one to help her obtain the land. Stephanie (Declan's demrnted ex girlfriend) is the lawyer for the widow of the deceased and she is holding a series of contests to see who can purchase the land. So ensues a series of hilarious antics, culminating in a mystery solved and a worthless piece of land sold.
Amy Vansant has perfected the art of telling a cozy mystery and combining it with rich characters and comedy. In this fourth in the series, Charlotte continues to work on obtaining her license as an investigator. Deklan supports as Charlotte's love interest and Stephanie continues to show her evil self. Charlotte has decided to help solve a murder, while also working to help Penny add "Cow Town" for Pineapple Court. This fast-moving novel will keep you guessing, and smiling. The audio version is just a bonus, adding a theatrical flair to the story!
A drunk man falls to over a balcony to his death, just an accident or maybe not, when his widow puts up a prime piece of land she wants the two bidders to compete for it since they both had affairs with him. In comes the ex-girlfriend who is running the competition. Between, landscapers, arm wrestling and moving cows there are lots of surprises but the teddy bear beats them all. Meanwhile Charlotte is investigating the husband's death and suspects it's murder. There are more twists and turns than a maze in this story and the ending is a real shocker. Good read.
So I love this series and it has all you could want in a book to keep you happy and interested. I love the retirement community, Unlce Seamus, and the rest of Pineapple Port. Charlotte is a great leading lady and her relationship with Declan is mature with humor. What’s creepy is the ex girlfriend who is a psychopath serial killer. She’s something else! I hope one day she gets outed.
Just love the Pineapple Port Mysteries. I like a book that gives you a little intrigue, a lot of comedy, and an enjoyable scenario. I look forward to reading more about Pineapple Port. My only criticism of this book, and it seems to be so many of the books I read lately, is that the writers fail to hire a GOOD proof reader. Come on Amy, take a little pride in your work and put out an error-free book.
This was given to me for review of the audiobook by the author. This is my first time reading a Amy Vansant mystery and the four in this series. I like the character and the story is well-crafted, fast-paced and keeps guessing on the investigation of the murder, there are a few twist and turn. There's also some romance, eventually Charlotte figure things out and resolved the mystery by the end, but there is a few things the are left for the next book, the audiobook is good, I enjoy it.
