As a passionate crocheter, I purchase / use many crochet patterns. I bought this book in the amigurumipatterns.net pre-sale earlier this month. Last year, I voted in the annual design contest on many of the designs submitted. This led to the publication of the best designs in this book, and I was excited to receive it last week. Reading through the book so far, it is very well organized and comprehensive for a crocheter to use the patterns. All stitches used are listed up front with information on how to access video tutorials via a UR if needed. In addition, it covers information and tips for every component of the creation: facial features, stuffing, yarn and more. Each pattern is rated for skill level. There are plenty of photos and the patterns are clearly written. Each pattern has a dedicated online gallery to share the finished product. The photos with associated comments is often helpful to others starting with the pattern: perhaps more tricky parts to watch out for (depending on your skill level), consistency of result and more e.g. what happens if different colours are used. It will take a while to get to complete crocheting one or more of the patterns (I have several works in progress / to do). From reading through the first pattern in detail, my expectation is that I will be able to complete the pattern without difficulty. If this should turn out not to be the case, I will return to update this review. Based on my initial reading of this book, I would definitely recommend it to others. My review is completely independent (no freebies or favours to anyone). Enjoy this wonderful collection of amigurumi patterns :)

It took me quite awhile to finish my first project from this book but the dinosaur from the front cover is complete and looks fantastic. Though I did end up reinforcing his neck with a little floral wire, it is a big head on a skinny neck. As per usual, the pattern is easy to follow and there are multiple great looking creatures to make in the book.

This is a great little collection of amigurumi. My favourites are the saber-tooth, t-rex, dodo and mammoth. The triceratops is reminiscent of the character in old The Land Before Time movie.
