Rate this book
No one matches Roger Federer—and this extensively illustrated biography captures the man who has dominated tennis for more than two decades.

Roger Federer’s achievements make him more than he has won more Grand Slam singles titles (20) than any other male player; he has won Wimbledon a record eight times, shares the record for six Australian Opens, and is the only player to win five consecutive US Opens. For his native Switzerland he has won Olympic gold and silver and the Davis Cup. Many fans and experts consider him the best in the sport. This superb, richly photographed biography—complete with quotes from coaches, opponents, the media, and those who know Roger best—follows the life and career of the tennis superstar as he advances from the junior tournaments to the main professional circuit. Suave, sophisticated, a great role model on and off the court, Federer plays with elegance, panache, and magnificent sportsmanship. Anyone with a love of the game will enjoy learning more about one of the greatest athletes of the twenty-first century.

A handsomely illustrated history of the maestro's career from his childhood in Basel through to the end of 2018, the year in which he won his 20th Grand Slam title. It is a bit hagiographical, and you won't find any new psychological insights into the man here or any lengthy discussion of his relationships with his family members and his tennis rivals, but it includes sections on his Olympic and Davis Cup campaigns and, as a fan, I just found it a really pleasant read. And the photos are terrific.
