She dreamed about him every night. Four years ago he left her with a heartache. But things didn’t go the way she wanted and now Amy has to face a situation where being with Kyle is not just impossible but also forbidden. How will she cope with this new situation, now that there isn’t Alice to teach her how to behave with him? How will she overcome everything and make her dream come true? What happened to Alice? Will she keep helping Amy, even in her absence?
“Going into the classroom has now become a torment, sweet yet painful. It’s like putting a child in a room full of candies and not letting him touch any.”
I was born in 1985. I always liked books and the passion for writing started very early. I was seven years old when I wrote my first story. During secondary school, I used to write love stories that my friends read at school during breaks. I hoped that someday I could publish my stories and finally that happened in 2013 when I published my most loved story. Against All Odds.
Let me say first that the basic premise of this book was somewhat interesting. The plot sort of held my attention but mostly I kept reading to see if it would get better - it didn’t.
Off the top this book desperately needs some quality time with a good editor. The language is stilted and I’m not sure if English is not the writers native language or what.
The book switches throughout from past, present and future tense. That alone drove me insane.
Then there was the whole overbearing patriarchal nature of the story. The attitudes of the male characters towards the female characters was old fashioned at best.
The way the characters expressed themselves was awkward and stilted which again makes me feel English is not the writer’s first language. This is where a good translator or editor could have stepped in and made corrections.
Finally, there were punctuation and grammatical errors throughout the book.
This has the potential to be an enjoyable book, it simply needs a significant overhaul.
