Former San Francisco radio disc jockey Kate Kisset is passionate about telling great stories. After playing thousands of Pop, Country, Rock and Oldies tunes, for her primarily female fan base, she changed her tune and became an author. A girl’s girl herself, Kate’s heroines are smart and feisty and her heroes are drool-worthy book boyfriends. When she's not writing, Kate's favorite job is being "The Mommy." She enjoys reading, binge watching Netflix and the Hallmark Channel, wine tasting, cooking, listening to music, and hiking with her loyal companion Luciana Parmigiana, her rescue-dog-editor. • Follow Kate Kisset on social media for teasers about her upcoming books and a peek at her "real" life in wine country. • Follow Kate Kisset on social media for teasers about her upcoming books and a peek at her "real" life in wine country.
Heartbreaker is one of the books within the Sweetest Obsession boxed set and is by one of my favourite authors in this genre. The main character is Georgia Monroe, a music reporter, on her last chance at work. She has finally managed to gain an interview with one of the top new country music stars, Boone Beckett. If she doesn’t get this interview done, then she’s going to lose her job. She has a time and place arranged with Boone, someone who hasn’t done any other interviews, as yet. She is to meet him out at his home on a remote ranch. Only problem is trying to find it in a totally unsuitable car and a useless GPS! A breakdown and unsuitable footwear don’t help with matters.
She is rescued by Boone’s older brother, Harlan at gunpoint, as he is out checking the fences and takes her for a trespasser. He takes her back to the ranch, but Boone has been delayed and he has been asked to keep her company. His idea of this is to take her out for a ride and question her, as he doesn’t trust reporters at all, especially after his own music career was ruined after an event the press reported on. He disappeared from the music scene straight after that. He is very demanding in his questioning and not in a nice way at all! Georgia eventually finds out that this is Harlan’s ranch and Boone is staying there with him at the moment.
When Boone eventually turns up, Georgia can finally get started on her interview, but keeps getting distracted by his brother, who she is finding much more attractive than Boone. It seems Harlan is still writing songs in his studio on site and even working with his brother. It is Harlan who has passed on the mistrust of reporters, but Boone knows he needs some exposure in the press to get his songs out there. He has researched previous interviews Georgia has done on various artists and was really impressed with her stories. He chose her, but Harlan doesn’t trust his opinion when it comes to reporters, lumping them all in the same basket.
Harlan hasn’t been out much in public after the sudden end of his career and has avoided any romance since as well. But, he also finds he has growing feelings for Georgia, however much he tries to hate her and her profession! His ranch is just outside a place called Lonesome, Montana and when Georgia is taken in there for supplies, she finds everyone there with smiles on their faces. She can’t figure this out, but will be let into the secret soon. A romance soon starts up between Harlan and Georgia, and her story may now be turning out quite different from what she first planned on. A great story, with a bit more oomph to the story than some of the author’s more tame books. This one certainly has a bit of heat, but not too high a heat, so will appeal to a lot of readers.
I received an ARC copy of Heartbreaker from the author and I have also bought the Sweetest Obsession boxed set to work my way through. I have freely given my opinion of the first story I read in the collection above.
I loved this box set and can't get over it's an incredible value. Can you believe 25 full-length romances from some of the best romance authors? Wow, once I started reading I found this collection hard to put down. Hours of reading pleasure from award-winning authors. Alpha males and the women they love. Chemistry that's off the charts and surprises galore. One of my favorite authors, Kate Kisslet was included. I read an arc and voluntarily chose to review.
