Creativity is considered one of the most valuable skills to possess in today's volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous world. However, it is also often thought of as a skill or talent a person is born with. Dispelling this myth through a compelling narration that combines personal anecdotes with history and neuroscience, the author helps us understand that creativity is well within the reach of each and every one of us. Not stopping at that, this book offers a powerful method of enhancing creativity through simple step-by-step practices of mindfulness meditations and methods. A guide, a workbook and a manual rolled into a simple, easy-to-follow and practical format, Creativity Unleashed is an essential read for professionals from different fields, students and, in fact, anyone who wishes to expand their creative potential. With an engaging and playful narrative, this is a faithful companion, a fantastic bedside read and a guide that works to unleash your hidden talent well beyond the 48 days of the programme in the book.
This book is divided in two halves, first is the theoretical/logical/motivational part and the other is the task oriented part. I followed this book religiously according to how it was designed, for 48 days and at the beginning of the book the author asks the reader to make a creative diary that is a notebook cum diary where you write down most of the tasks which are supposed to be handwritten and I followed all of it. I'll be honest, yes I saw some kind of improvement but there was no creativity unleashing out of me and I am one of the most non-creative person so it wasn't that great of a book, I would not suggest it to anyone looking to find creativity. I think after all these years of trying to understand where my creativity lies I have realised that creativity is in your hands, you just have to work, need to find ideas and inspirations wherever you go, work on it see other people's work take inspiration from it, derive something out of it and well that's how I started my page and that's why I am working around it and I think that is the only way to go about it. This book on a whole wasn't that great and I wasn't surprised. . . My Verdict : 2.5/5 ⭐
The book mainly focuses on two things, the theory aspect and the practical aspects which covers the exercises. The former has certain examples of and quotes by famous people and it also includes the results of the researches done which are related to creativity. The practical aspect asks us to maintain a journal and practice the exercises mentioned for 48 days. The book was an okay read for me because I didn't get the results. The cover of the book is beautiful and the book title is quite catchy. The language used in the book is simple and the theme is a fresh one. The book is well researched and other people may find it useful. Certain things like the concept of mindfulness and it's relation to creativity is something that I didn't know of so I liked that part. The author has also mentioned various types of meditation which we may never have heard of. I liked the idea of the book but it didn't work on me.
