Restless

It is sweet and lovely. This story is about learning to love herself and growing up. Overall, I enjoyed the book. I think this would be a great story for women who are feeling a little lost in the world.

First, I want to thank Michelle Bellon for providing me with this book so I could bring you this review.
Restless by award winning author Michelle Bellon was very special book on many different levels. I knew this book was very close to the authors heart and it came out via her writing.
Her cover of Restless was so breathtaking! It was perfect for every time Malea left. Kudos to the graphic designer.
I loved how Restless was dedicated to Michelle’s Fiancée Chayne. He taught her what love really is and gave her peace. Plus, I loved how she gave thanks to Avril for helping get this book back into the hands of the readers.
I really loved that that there was a character by the named Heidi in the book. What I loved even more is that the character was a lesbian just coming out to her roommate’s. That whole storyline I really loved and put a smile on my face.
The beginning of the book got me so hooked. The emotions and feelings Michelle put into Malea’s walk down the aisle as she was about to marry Garrett were priceless. I could totally understand all of what she was thinking and feeling. It was an incredibly powerful scene. I too could relate to her character as I felt all those feelings when I got married. Unfortunately, my intuitions were right and I shouldn’t have. Mine ended in divorce.
There were so many great stories within he main story that made this overall story great!

Restless is an utterly inspiring novel.
The story was all about Malea who always run away when things get tough. She has this commitment problem, and whenever her relationship with her past boyfriends gets seriously, she tends to break up with them and hurt their feelings. Getting married to Garrett, she now thinks if she did the right thing or not. She has been questioning herself on how can she be a good wife and a mother if she still has unfinished issues with herself, and that’s what she needs to fix before she ruined everything.

In this book, you’ll get to know Malea, on how she changed her lifestyle from being the so-called “party girl” to being a mother and a wife, and how she tries to work her relationship with her husband, Garrett, despite her issues. She also has a lot of insecurities in herself like how she would be a good mother to her baby if she never experienced motherly care from her own mom and how would she be a good wife to Garrett if she always runs away when she gets too close to a man.
We see what we want to see, dear. – Michelle bellon, Restless
I liked the story and how it was narrated. In fact, the whole plot is good except for the way it moves from one scene to another, and it is a little bit confusing for me. A lot of questions are forming inside my head as I read this like what happened to her friend who is secretly in love to Malea and what happened before she got pregnant (this is the missing part of the story that makes me feel agitated).

I also loved the book cover. Just one look at it, it already describes who Malea is. It is perfectly made for this novel.
I am recommending this book, especially if you have a lot of “what-ifs” in life and if you are still having doubts about your own decisions. This book would really help you to understand yourself better. If you are like Malea, surely this one is for you to read.

Restless, is the latest novel from author Michelle Bellon, that tells the story of Malea and her fear and aversion to commitment. The story opens with Malea and Garrett's wedding, but then flashes back to before the wedding to lay the groundwork for their relationship. Malea is a young, intelligent woman who likes to have a good time and is described by her best friend as a "party girl," but also devoted to her studies and her new job after graduating. Malea has dated and has been in a long-term relationship (which she ended because she was feeling over-whelmed by her feelings), but is very direct and upfront about the fact that she "does not do commitment. " Enter Garrett, and things begin to change. Garrett is the all-around perfect guy, especially when it comes to tolerating her fear of commitment and run-away weekends alone.
Restless explores Malea's ability to give love and try to commit, although she is unable to feel someone else's love in return. Throughout the novel, the reader watches Malea try, succeed, fail, and keep trying to maintain love and commitment with one person. I love the story and how the author takes the reader through her growth as a woman, wife, and mother. This is a wonderful novel, and I am a fast reader, however, there are parts of the novel where I'm left with questions (maybe I missed these things?)....
What in the world happens to Ethan after the wedding?
The patient that was so important that Malea was using her phone during the reception - no one seemed that important when it flashed back to her time at the nursing home.
The all-important moment of understanding her past and what has prevented her from committing and feeling love... There wasn't much to that to justify her feelings and actions up until that point.
Also, although kind of silly, what happened to her car during the wash-out when Garrett picks her up?
Lastly, why did no one ever get this girl to an AA meeting??? Taking off to strange towns, strange bars, and strange hotels alone did not seem very healthy!
Seriously though, this is a great novel that explores questions that are most likely very relevant to a great deal of readers. How does one know if someone really, truly loves them, and if they do, then what does it feel like? Does everyone deserve that amazing, unconditional love? What does it take for someone to give in to that vulnerability and trust that someone loves them? Michelle Bellon provides a moving story of Malea's self-reflection and self-discovery and I look forward to reading more from her (and hopefully about these characters) in the future!

Synopsis:
The MC Malea has a difficult time with commitment and runs away every time someone gets too close.
The story is a good one, a little predictable and childish, but good. My major issue with the story was that I couldn't relate to Malea at all. She is a well-written character, though. She lacked major character development throughout the book up until the last few chapters. I really loved Garrett though! He stayed consistent throughout the book and I really enjoyed reading about him.
The language used through the book was very good and enjoyable. But at times, it felt the narrator (Malea) went out of character.
Another issue I had was the way the story jumped from one scene to another without any transition. For example, one page they are arguing about how many kids they would like and in the next page she is pregnant. There was something missing from that scene to the other one. The lack of transition happened a few times through the book and threw me off.
Overall, though, it's a good book to read. The pace was good and consistent The writing style was great, but at times, it seemed to fall apart. And the cover was well thought out.

"Restless" by Michelle Bellon reminds me for me a lot, that I am scare of commitment. That is how party girl Malea Winters is, she runs at the sign of commitment. Malea blames her ways on her parents, and honestly I don't blame her. Her mother was not really a mother, no love, no passion for her child, and her father was business with one woman after other. Which is why she swore off men, and stay very close to her friends.
This book was predictable, but that is only because I kind of understand how Malea is feeling, she was a girlfriend, then a wife, and became a mother, but it annoy me how quickly the book was jumping through the scenes. However, you can truly see how Malea tries when Garrett enters the picture, and you can see how much he tries to be with Malea. Garrett marries her, and they have a baby, Malea struggles with how she can be a good mother and a good wife to her baby and her husband, which is typical for most woman, but it is extremely difficult for Malea since she have a history of leaving her boyfriends.
