David Auburn is an American playwright, screenwriter, and theatre director. He is best known for his 2000 play Proof, which won the 2001 Tony Award for Best Play and Pulitzer Prize for Drama.
“Sky, blue and dry. Frozen Stone, trees black, our breath, white. Smoke, birds, air, stone, ice. Ground glows with freezing cold and light // you kiss me, and you can taste the coffee and your happiness”
You can tell a young author wrote these plays LMFAOOO, otherwise, this was such a fun experience… I’ll never forget it.
Our production consisted of Miss You, Damage Control, the three monologues, What do You Believe About The Future?, as the first act, and fifth planet as the second act. I loved it. Our take was a campy one. 5/5 for production, 3/5 for the play.
David Auburn's Fifth Planet has a real interesting structure I think Playwriting students should check out. But my favorite play of the bunch Damage Control.
