Daisy and Posey are on their way to spend a day at the beach. From building sand castles to playing in the ocean waves, Daisy is excited to show her friend all her favorite things to do on the ocean shore. Then a wish from Daisy causes Posey to show her what it's like on the ocean FLOOR as he turns her into a mermaid for an underwater adventure.

Not precisely the world of make-believe, but the underwater story elevates this installment a bit. Once again, Anna demonstrates a wonderful, whimsical imagination that young readers will easily engage with and connect to. In this book, as in the last one, Anna adds a thread of mystery that drives the story forward and gives it a purpose. And of course, she continues to excel at making all things adorable. With mermaids all the rage among the grade-school and younger crowd right now, this tale is a timely addition to the series.

In this book, Daisy and her imaginary friend Posey go on a beach trip. Daisy goes into the water and Posey turns her into a mermaid since she asked to. She goes under the water and meets some sea friends. However, she can't talk to them.

Instead, Posey can. In this book, he talks cat, whale, and octopus! The octopus had lost her friends, and the clues she has is a garden of orange and purple sea stars, sounds of a murky song, and a treasure chest.

Sir Pounce, who is Daisy's cat, and is now a fish, found the first clue. They saw the whale pass them and Posey talks to the whale. The whale said the chest is buried underneath. They found the chest and they opened it. There was actual treasure inside!

Sea polished shells, orange lion paws, abalone shells, yellow limpets, sand dollars, and purple sea scallops. The octopus, who is now named Inky, finally finds her friends. She is very happy. Daisy then hears someone say her name and she woke up. Turns out it was a dream! But wait, there's a sandcastle of her home in the beach and there was a note. It said "What a FUN day! See you soon!" and the wave washed away the sand castle along with the note.

Daisy goes home and her cat is back to normal. Sir Pounce woke up, darted out under her bed and Daisy noticed something. It was a seashell from Inky's chest! Turns out this wasn't a dream at all, it was real! Daisy couldn't believe it! Her cat curls up on her and Daisy is glad this was real and not a dream.

Very good and sweet short book, would recommend to other kids.

This has been one of my favorite books of the series! Daisy goes to the beach and Posey wants to come (and bring her cat Sir Pounce too). Posey tells her she can turn into a mermaid so she does and she helps a whale, but then she wakes up and realizes it was all a dream. I love the message that you can do anything you want in your imagination and we all really enjoy these quick reads!

In this one Daisy gets to be a detective instead of a diplomat. And there's a new kind of magic; she has an adventure with Posey but not in WOM. I miss Jasmine and Lily.
