After accidentally flashing the audience with her knickers, Em Brown decided that writing was a safer activity. She enjoys writing romance, particularly erotic historicals. For more about her works, visit www.EroticHistoricals.com.
Radcliff Barrington learned that his cousin loses the Brayten Estate, through gambling, he immediately searches to whom he would buy back the title.
Darcy Sherwood would do anything for her family, she gambles just to be able to support them. Not only that she’s on top of her game, but Darcy is also a beauty that captures every man’s attention. Her biggest win was the Brayten estate, coincidentally owned by the person who mistreated her sister, and she wants revenge.
When Radcliff first met Darcy, he insulted and belittles her. Much to her annoyance, Darcy didn’t give in to Radcliff’s monetary offer in exchange for the deed. What Darcy did was to offer a challenge to Radcliff…
“You will submit to being my suitor—an ardent suitor—for a period of six months. You will tend to my every wish and command. Only then, upon your satisfactory and unconditional submission, will I relinquish the deed to Brayten.
Once he accepted it, will he have the patience to be at the beck and call of Darcy? Radcliff is known to be a ladies’ man, will Darcy succumbed to his undeniably good looks and charm?
It's been a while since I read a book from this genre and glad I picked this one, it captivates me from beginning to end. I immensely enjoyed reading this short story. Georgette Brown is a new author to me and I’ll definitely read more of her work in this collection. If you're looking for a short and well written historical romance I definitely recommend this one.
So far I have only read the first two books in this set, but oh my goodness how fabulous they are. If the others are half as good as these two then I will have chosen a great set to read. Although there is a lot of passion, and the soft BDSM scene there are good stories to go with the steamy stuff. I can't abide books that are written just to shock, or that have no decent storyline to enjoy. Thankfully this author has the perfect balance between the bed sports (if they make it to a bed) and a story you can get your teeth into. Although there's the occasional continuity error, it's easy to let it pass and I look forward to reading more of the books.
I found this box set a good book. I liked most of the books through the box set with an exception of a couple of the books. My most favourites are the countess and the rake and both the tempting of the Marquess of Alastair books. I prefer the books that have a mix of plot and storylines and some sexual encounters but not too overwhelming.
If you are looking for hot and steamy with HEAs then this series will not disappoint. They are for very mature audiences, very hot sexy scenes with lots of details, light domination & bondage and often reformed rakes.
A young woman takes u an invitation, meant for her cousin, going to save a young girl from a known rake. However, things go askew, and well, you need to read this delectable short but roguish story.
2: That Wicked Harlot This is a Regency Romance with a very big twist. A woman doing everything for her family to survive, and keep one step of the debts that, even back then, plagued her small family of her mother, sister, nephew and herself. Working in a gambling den, by night, she has had the ability to revenge the wrong done to her sister, five years earlier. The Baron, an aloof arrogant and curt gentleman, recruited to restore property lost in a gambling den, to none other the woman whose sister, had attempted to pull his brother down, into an ill advised relationship, five years earlier. The clashes between two people, both endeavoring to get and keep the upper hand, ending in sexual encounters that should had set my kindle afire. Warning: Have refreshments handy, and be prepared to read until finished, as it is impossible to put down, and it is a full length novel.
3: Tempting a Marquess Another shorter read. A woman in Regency England appears to have an expiry date for marriagibilty. You seemed better off wed, to almost anyone, than unwed, and a spinster, reliant on parents and relations to support you. Unless you gained employment as a governess. Off course, sex before marriage, was frowned upon and to have carnal thoughts, and act on your bodies needs, in that area, was not accepted practice. Men, on the other hand, could do as they pleased. They had the power and the social backing, to not deny their physical desires, unless it became known. This story highlights the thought processes, of both male and females, and how very confusing their rigid social expectations must have been, to a person of intelligence.
4 Tempting a Marquess for Christmas
The story from Tempting a Marquees continues, with another encounter, which unfortunately was to be there last. Both lovers try to forget the other, however, events unfold, causing the Marquess to have very good look at his emotional attachment and a rescue is required. You need to read this sexually charged story, to get the writer's true impact.
5: The Countess and the Rake
Two people, both living two different lives, one during the day, in society, whilst the second is masked and camouflaged, part of the sensual world of Madame Botreaux's Ballroom. This is the story of what occurs when they run across each other in those two separate identities. This book could just burn your fingers.. it's that hot!
6: Pleasuring Lady Pennington
A widow uses whatever means to share an evening with a man of her dreams. A short but explicit romp, between two adults.
7: Surrendering to the Baron
Each had come to the Chateau Follet for their own reasons. She was convinced by a friend that two wrongs made it right, whilst he came angry, that he be made a cuckold by his wife. However, a chance was given to them, that allowed her to expand her knowledge, and experience, so perhaps the marital bed wasn't as disappointing. He was stopping her from commiting adultery, and learning new things in the process. Could this house of cards they built collapse on them, or could it cement their relationship? You need to read the writer's story, to find out the whole erotic tale.
8: An Improper Proposition
She had lost a wager to him previously, a year ago, and had submitted to his attention. He was back, and it was to him she turned, with a business like proposal, to help her out of her family's financial bind. Together they experience the erotic Chateau Follet, and each other. Off course, there is much more than this to this romantically but sexually explicit tale. Perhaps you are brave enough to experience this couple's journey.
Some are 5* and some are 4*. Overall 4.5* Individual views: *****Surrendering to the Rake by Em Brown: good! Nice and steamy with a perfect HEA. *****That Wicked Harlot: wicked fun! This story is decadent for the times. Steamy and erotic, with a woman doing her best to take care of her family after her father died and left them nothing but debt. I love that Darcy was such a strong woman, comfortable in her own skin, and true to herself while going against the norms of society. An entertaining love story with a wonderful HEA. *****Tempting a Marquess: this story is good! I love Mildred and her inquisitive nature. A few drinks and her inhibitions gone, she entices Alastair and they seduce each other. Sensual, and sweet, I can’t wait to see what happens next with them. *****Tempting a Marquis for Christmas: Really good! Millie and Alastair’s relationship continues with more sensual encounters. Steamy, with a bit of angst and a nice HEA. *****The Countess and the Rake: delightfully entertaining This story flows beautifully, with a sensual attraction between 2 masked individuals that is unknowingly replicated IRL. Some complications, secrets revealed, and an HEA. A well written and enjoyable read. ****Pleasuring Lady Pennington:A short, steamy story This is a quick story with a proposition and the resulting night. A steamy read that concludes at the end of the night. ****Surrender to the Baron: pretty good Leopold and Trudie have been married for two years, but don’t share intimacy. Leopold has a mistress and Trudie is persuaded by a cousin to find her own pleasure at Cheteau Follet. What transpires from here is a mostly enjoyable storyline. ****An Improper Proposition: A good read This story was good. Rockwell is taken with Deana, but she is beneath his station. He hopes he can get her out of his system by “having” her, but ultimately realizes love is more important than a good match.
I enjoyed reading almost every Book in this Boxset.
"Surrendering to the Rake" 5🌟's was a Great Novella. I really wished Georgette would have written a book with this story, it was that good.
"Tempting A Marquess" A Great Story. 4🌟's A steamy yet kinda twisted Story.
"The Countess & The Rake" 4🌟's A Great Book. I enjoyed reading this Story. A Married woman whose husband has a mistress & refuses to engage with his wife. She finds going to "Madam Botreaux's Ballroom of Pleasure. she may not engage in the carnal pleasures, but she enjoys the position she holds over the nen who want her. Until Phineas arrives & throws her off balance.
"Pleasuring Lady Pennington" 5🌟's Was Absolutely Wonderful. Here was a Strong Heroine Georgeanna who knew what she wanted & went for it regardless of what Cedman tried to do to stop her.
"Surrendering to the Baron" 3🌟's? Was an ok read. I truly didn't appreciate how he treated his wife at the Chateau. I don't understand how his wife didn't know who he was behind the mask. If anyone tried to force me to have sex with him, i would have fought with everything I had in me. I would never surrender to a Man pushing himself upon my person.
"An Improper Proposition" 3🌟's was a bit to long & could have been better.
"Pride, Prejudice and Pleasure" 1🌟 I honestly couldn't finish reading it. The 1st 3 chapters were so confusing & a bunch of Narrative from Lizzy.
Burning down the house hot! Georgette Brown writes in historical erotic romance genre. She is a good writer--sorry, my underline doesn't work for under good! Only 2 of these stories are short, 3&4 chapters. The other stories are anywhere from 16-34 chapters with the median about 18 chapters. I've read a couple of these stories before, but enjoyed rereading them. Tempting the marquess and the Christmas continuation continue with the same characters. Whoever thought the prim and proper British from the Regency period I'm guessing were this hot! A palace of pleasure, no, no prostitution, but a place of anonymity for the genteel is used as the meeting place of a few stories.
For the most part none of us are matched to our spouse by our families, for benefit of money or position these days(thank goodness) but this wasn't true for the British aristocracy (as well as other countries). Anyway, these stories are far far away from Georgette Heyer novels about the time period. Hold on to your panties, there is steam in these pages! Enjoy!
Plots are potentially fun to read. Variations of Taming of the Shrew and Pride and Prejudice plots are always welcome and fun to read. The premises and hook for these books are fun but these books miss the mark of being rereadable because they spend more time describing sexual deviations, sadism, voyeurism, domination etc rather than character evolution, plot. With a bit more verbiage and change of focus, additional plot and more indepth character development I believe Georgette Brown’s books would sell well even if she wrote a “sweet” rather than “steamy” version.
I finished the books because finishing what I've started reading is a personal obsession. I would recommend that readers read her full volume versions of her books. It's easy to skip/skim through the sex scenes and some of the dialogue of the characters is amusing. one of the unusal aspects was when she had the hero have the female assigned a separate room from himself. Usually the plot has the couple forced to share a room.
Surrendering to the Rake: Sebastian and Heloise’s story is spicy and condensed. Looking for a short read at lunch? This is the one. That Wicked Harlot: Radcliff and Darcy are two very stubborn people that make sparks in and out of the bedroom. Tempting A Marquess: Andre and Millie surprise eachother with their misjudgments of the other. Tempting A Marquess for Christmas: This is a continuation of Andre and Millie’s story. I was pleasantly surprised with how their story came about. The Countess and the Rake: Phineas and Gertrude’s story contains lots of hate and love. Also a rarity in their time, a divorce. Pleasuring Lady Pennington: This is another short spicy one for your lunch break. Surrendering to the Baron: Trudie and Leopold discover their bland convenient marriage might or might not be over based on deceit and wontan behavior. An Improper Proposition: Halston and Deana get more than they expect from their second proposition.
A Scintillating Collection to add to your keeper shelve
I love, love this collection of steamy, well-written historical romances. Em Brown writes as Georgette Brown and tones down the erotic factor to each story, but the storytelling is vivid as ever. I have read and reviewed individually most of the stories and they have earned high marks from me. I am discerning when it comes to steamy historicals and Em Brown delivers each time.
Ms. Brown reveals much about passion, pleasure and the unconventional themes to the Lords and Ladies of The Regency. My favorites of this collection are Surrendering to the Baron, That Wicked Harlot, and Surrendering To The Rake. They are all deliciously wicked and kinky.
Georgette Brown continues to serve up a full helping of lust to love tales. I had read several or the books in this collection previously, but some are new to me. The common denominator is the battle between arrogant alpha males and independent females on a mission.
Of all, The Wicked Harlot is my favorite. Darcy and Radcliffe were the perfect antagonistic couple, forming an on again/ off again relationship, spiked by outward lies and inward tenderness. I lost sleep finishing this book. Don't get me wrong- I enjoyed all the stories, but this one struck a chord of empathy in me.
Pick it up, dive in , and swim in a lake of sensuality. Enjoy
I had originally read the author’s short story An Indecent Wager and was pleased to the relationship between the two parties deepened in one of her longer works in this box set. While the writing suffers occasionally from a mistyped or wrongly chosen word in context, the depth and complexity the author brings, particularly to her male characters, is refreshing. This box set contains another pair of stories which, again, deepen the relationship between a marquess and his cousin by marriage. All the tales have a HEA, and while there are elements of dominance in the sex scenes, the more outrageous of them actually sort of take place ‘off stage’.
Regency society exposing its prurient side 😳 February 17, 2019 3.5🌟stars For me, this set is driven by titillation and passionate clinches, at the expense of good, witty dialogue, complex characters and a believable plot. For example, a girl from a society family agrees to her beloved aunt's arrangement for her to overnight at a licentious house party to "sow her wild oats" before marriage to a disagreeable fiance. Even if the aunt has a more noble motive, this was so not believable in society of that time period. For this fan of Jane Austen and Georgette Heyer, these stories just could not grab and keep my interest through to the end.
4.75 stars What an enchanting compilation of stories to take one back to a time where elegance and chivalry ruled the day. I have read the first half of the stories in the box set and cannot wait to complete it. As the pages of each story turn, one is immersed in a world gone by made richer by the opulent descriptions of the time period. Each of her characters is well developed adding to the lushness of the storylines. Ms. Brown has penned intriguing short stories that will titillate any reader’s fancy.
8 Novella length stories told in dual POV with HEA’s. Perfect if you like your historical romance on the steamier side! From ballrooms, drawing rooms, card rooms, the “Chateau of Debauchery”, and Madam Botreaux’s Ballroom of Pleasures there are lots of naughty times. Some very light BDSM, like being tied to the bed or spanked. Well-developed characters and story-lines. I enjoyed all the stories and highly recommend!
This was an excellent collection of novella length, regency romances. Each book focuses on its own couple and has its own unique storyline. There is plenty of spice sprinkled into these books with hot scenes that feature some light BDSM elements. Plots offer drama, emotional tension and suspense. I found this box set very entertaining and enjoyable. By my own accord I am posting a sincere review.
I enjoyed reading these stories so much. I had to read it to the end. You have alpha males and strong females in all kinds of situations. There is everything from suspense, hot steamy or emotional situations. I highly recommend these stories. They are so enjoyable. I was given a review copy and voluntarily review it.
Hot and explicit adventures. In Tempting a Marquess, Mildred and Alistair meet in the Chateau Follet with an interesting outcome - this was the very first story I read in the series and it was hot. The rest of this boxset reads quickly and easily, is well written and full of hot and explicit adventures. I read an Advance Reader Copy and this is my voluntary and unbiased review.
This box set is a collection of some very steamy regency historical reads you never new what couple would get up to naughty behavior next or were they would be having said incounters that being said the dialogue was good but i wish some of the books had more not just the naughty stuff but its still a good read. I was allowed to read and advance copy of this book and this is my honest review.
This boxset is the greatest. If you want 8 sexy, steamy, well-written regency romances this is it in ONE book. MS Brown weaves a fast paced, hot story. You will be introduced to Chateau Follet, a place of innocence or debauchery, wild and wicked or mild sexual experiences. Who and what goes on there, stays there. I love having all these stories in one book.
This box set is a mix of short and novel length erotic stories. They end up being romantic because of happy endings, but the roads to them are uncomfortable, frustrating, and even heart breaking.
The writing is fantastic but could use proofreading in spelling and punctuation.
I love this era so much. The strong female who is supposed to be demure, showing her naughty side and the equally strong male who is brought to his knees. I love the flow of the stories and man, some scenes are fan worthy. Always left wanting more, but isn't that what a good writer does. I definitely recommend this box set and any writings by Ms. Brown.
Georgette has put together a great selection with an apt name. They truly are steamy and they are a joy to ready. I especially enjoyed 'That Wicked Harlot' and got a lot of laughs out of it along with the sighs. I highly recommend this collection to anyone who enjoys a Regency Romance, or even just a romance.
Love HOT Regiency Romance -loved her writing - the reason for the lack of a half star is in two stories two female characters are sexually assaulted _ it just throw s me off when reading a story - if I wanted that type of DARK I would have chosen that format of a book but I liked how her main heroin (s) are more realistic in sexuality. Overall well done.
What can I say, all the stories in this book are marvellous, the last one being my particular favourite. The romance is wonderful and yes there is sex but not crudely portrayed. Oh, if only there really were men such as the ‘heroes’ in these tales, I for one would be considerably happier with my lot.
It is my fondest hope that hacks, such as this writer, will finally climb down off the 50 Shades bandwagon. This steaming pile of trash is nothing more than a regurgitation of that genre. The acts that were written about are nothing more than abuse of women. Physical, mental & emotional abuse. Ugh.
These stories by Georgette Brown are delicious to read! The characters are written fully to feel their depth. The stories are each different and very enjoyable. They get steamier and hotter as you go!
Georgette does it again in this wonderful new boxset of steamy, passionate and funny stories. The heroin never disappoints in giving the man she loves, a run for their money.
