Forever Fluid: A Reading of Luce Irigaray's Elemental Passions

Rate this book
This book provides a rich feast of literary and philosophical insight, offering as it does the first English commentary on Luce Irigaray's poetic text, Elemental Passions . It explores Irigaray's images and intentions, developing the gender drama that takes place within her book, and draws the reader into the conversation between "I-woman" and "you-man" in the text.

Its short-comings are overshadowed by the contribution this makes to Irigaray's work and its reception. I would also speculate that the majority of the work's weaknesses arise from its troubled production and the (crucial and welcome, yet often weak) contributions of series-editor Grace Jantzen.
