Anna Cazut is born of a breed of angels chosen to live on earth. When enemies threaten her family, Anna is forced to leave her people behind to become Forsaken and raise her niece among humans. But destiny, and a male named Riley Wares, is determined to bring them both home.
Riley, struggling with the feelings he's kept hidden for a decade, helps Anna fight to regain her life in their society and guides Marissa to learn about the true powers of the Fallen. But everything could end in a moment when their own people threaten to end their way of life forever.
Anne Schlea is an avid reader. She has a deep love of paranormal fiction, history, and mythology. By merging these loves into one, she creates a vibrant world any reader can step into. As a child, Anne read the entire paranormal fiction section of her hometown library in Northwest Ohio. Today, her personal collection holds over 3,000 titles.
Anne lives in the northern suburbs of Atlanta, Georgia, a short drive from the Appalachian Mountains. She attends Dragon Con every year where she loves to meet new writers and attend workshops. Her writing buddy is a Siamese cat mix named for the Toto song Rosanna.
I gave this book 3 stars because I thought the story was good and the characters like able. There were times I wished there were more details added. For instance there is zero detail about Anna’s condition until she is leaving with Riley, it’s then brought up in conversation and then the topic is pretty much done. Also I felt like the author just also teases you with a hint of sexual steamyness (is that even a word?!) and then hello it’s the next chapter, talking about the next day..... I could of used more detail there! 😜❤️
The main downside to this book is, there is a tremendous amount of typos and grammatical errors throughout the entire book. It’s usually not a big deal if I find a couple but there are multiple errors in each chapter. If that type of thing triggers your OCD, then read with caution.
All in all, I liked the book. If there is a 2nd one, I’d read it.
The Fallen by Anne Schlea this is a wonderful story to read. I was pulled in from the very first page to the very end I can not get enough of these characters and plot. I highly recommend this bokk to everyone who loves reading about fantasy and paranormal romance.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I really enjoyed reading the first book of this series and look forward to the next installment. Anne brings you into the story and makes you feel you are in the room watching everything happen.
(FYI I tend to only review one book per series, unless I want to change my scoring by 0.50 or more of a star. -- I tend not to read reviews until after I read a book, so I go in with an open mind.)
DNF
I didn't like the writing style and just couldn't get into it. I didn't make it past the first chapter because I just didn't care about the MC, her niece or any of the plot.
First time read the author's work?: Yes
Will you be reading more?: No
Would you recommend?: No
------------ How I rate Stars: 5* = I loved (must read all I can find by the author) 4* = I really enjoyed (got to read all the series and try other books by the author). 3* = I enjoyed (I will continue to read the series) or 3* = Good book just not my thing (I realised I don't like the genre or picked up a kids book to review in error.)
All of the above scores means I would recommend them! - 2* = it was okay (I might give the next book in the series a try, to see if that was better IMHO.) 1* = Disliked
Note: adding these basic 'reviews' after finding out that some people see the stars differently than I do - hoping this clarifies how I feel about the book. :-)
The description sounded interesting, and the majority of stars given were 4 & 5. I contemplated giving it two stars, but chose three stars because I enjoyed reading this novel, though with some big caveats. The writing is sloppy: poor grammar, misspellings. I expected the author to be foreign born with English not her primary language. Nope. So what’s the reason?
The novel is relatively descriptive about “the Fallen” and their mission. However, the plot was slow to get to the point. Eighty-plus percent into the novel, I was still wondering about the plot line.
The characters are interesting, as well as the idea of a group of angels hunting demons, but very little happens in this book. Most of the story seems to be the retelling of what happened previously. I’m assuming there is no previous book. Plus the ending of this novel seems like a teaser for another book to create a series. This novel screams “end of part one.“
