I eat steak with my bare hands, swing a sword and have a daughter who doesn’t speak.
I'm what no one would call normal.
I'm a capo for the Italian mafia. Any good I had left in me was snuffed out a long time ago.
She came in like an angel, a bright sun, meant strictly to treat my daughter.
I should have never met her. Never cared. Never fallen.
I never should have done it.
Here’s my story.
I'm warning you now… it’ll hurt.

Trigger Warning: This book is NOT a typical romance. This story does not end with a typical HEA.

It seems that I’m the only one (or at least in the minority) but I think that this book was just okay.

The premise was so captivating, and I was really excited to read it but, unfortunately, I didn’t like it. I think that the main reason for that is the writing style, it just wasn’t for me.

I have to give it +1 star though because of that ending and, of course, because of Nia. One of the things that made me add this book to my tbr was the combination of the single-dad and mafia tropes. I thought that was original and it caught my interest immediately. Thankfully, the relationship between Nia and Seven was one of the things I enjoyed about this book. Of course, I liked the relationship between Nia and Isla, but I have never read a “single dad mafia” novel before and that’s why I’m focusing on that.

Overall, I was disappointed by this book, maybe because I had high expectations after reading all these 5-star reviews. It wasn’t bad by any means, but it wasn’t that good for me. 3 ⭐

5 AMAZING STARS to this book. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Once again Bry surpassed herself, put all her gut into this story. I feel numb after reading it. What I want right now, is to be left alone so I can crawl under my cover and cry my heart out.

I said I was ready, but I wasn’t ready AT ALL to read SE7EN and Isla’s story. It is heart wreaking, a roller coaster of emotions coming from everywhere.
Don’t even start with the END, it broke me, I died a little too, but I knew this story couldn’t have ended any other way. She has chosen the best one.

Isla is such a young passionate docteur who spends all her time at work. She is so naive seeing the good in everyone but she is strong too.
I’ve loved her straight away.
The way she keeps to herself because she doesn’t want to admit what happened to her.

SEVEN, he intrigued me and knowing what happened to him even though I feel cheated that he didn’t tell us everything haha I love him. He has a big heart, but as the Capo he can’t and he doesn’t want to show his weakness. But he is so kind to Nia.

Nia, she is a strong little girl. I cried for her. She didn’t deserve to start her life the way she did but I am Happy she found her happy place.

Now, if you will excuse me, I am gonna get back into my corner and cry!

THANK YOU Bry! 🖤⚔️🖤

I went into this book telling myself to go slow and savor getting to read it for the first time. Ha! I finished it in one sitting...then started it again. Bry Ann did it again, she blew me away in ways I was not expecting. How she was able to create a character (Seven) who could top my book boyfriend claim on Frances is beyond me!

Seven - Any reader is not going to be able to keep themselves away from this single dad. From his nonverbal demeanor, love, and sexy mafia status. This man was dealt a bad hand of cards for the early part of his life, and yet, he does not let his demons defeat him. They may be running around in his head and on the streets ready to take a hit at him, but he keeps fighting for his life, his daughter, Isla, and himself. The amount of character growth you see in this book in regards to him is breathtaking and made me cry.

Isla is a young spitfire who is beyond perfect! The passionate love she shares for children, her best friend Danny Boy, and others is something most can only dream about and one of her best characteristics. She works her a** off as a pediatrician by day. But behind this doctor’s work persona, you meet a little book nerd like all us, readers. Isla is put through mental, emotional, and physical hell throughout this book, but it just showcases the strong female lead she is. No matter the experience she goes through, she remains optimistic and nice. She helped to remind me and Seven that being nice is not something she naturally is, but chooses to be!

Now to our little princess Nia, I was in love with her as soon as she was introduced to us! This little girl has went through so much and her soul has aged due to the past. Yet, somehow this girl has the most love anyone can show through their eyes. She created this love story between Seven and Isla, and more importantly created a family. The way she is able to conquer her fear of speaking and provide of a feeling of being grounded is beautiful.

The story was well paced, suspenseful, and lovely. I want to stay in my post SE7EN book coma. I am not ready to let these characters, world, or emotions go yet!

Bry Ann gave us a very realistic and magically HEA, something I greatly appreciate! Life does not end perfectly for everyone but we can choose to change our perspectives and see it differently. Thank you Bry for writing an exceptional book…5 stars is too small of a number to use when rating it!

This story deserves 10 Stars not 5!! 🖤🔥⭐️🔥🖤

Oh boy, I already know my review isn’t going to do this incredible, dark, twisted story any justice. Why, because I can’t put my review in enough words to explain how I’m truly feeling right now. Yes it’s that GOOD!!

Seven is a capo for the mob, a single new father with a deep twisted darkness to him. When Marley and her daughter, Alex (the lead female characters from Graveyard Girl) have a chance to get off the streets and get a second chance at life Marley realizes she can’t keep all of the children with her. When Nia is the last child to be adopted Seven steps up. He knows she has experienced some sort of trauma but doesn’t know what since she refuses to talk. That is until until she meets Isla.

Isla is a hard working pediatrician who adores children deeply. When she walks in to see a new patient something draws her to her. When her life is in grave danger the last person/people she expects to help her step up but what surprises her the most is seeing how gentle and protective Nia’s father really is with his daughter.

This is truly a heart grabbing, funny as hell story about 3 broken people. I truly was drawn if for the start. I laughed so hard my sides hurt and they still do but it also brought ugly tears along with all the feel good moments. When reading this you need a big box of tissues. 🖤🖤

Indescribable Story....
From page one I was captured with this book. I loved each and every character in the story. Seven, ex-military, Italian Mafia Capo and his beautiful daughter Nia, who doesn't talk, meet with the exquisite Dr. Isla Grace, a pediatrician. Seven has adopted Nia and besides not speaking she has been abused and he wants to her to have a check up to make sure she is ok. Bry Ann has written an exceptional story line. As the story progressed, I was holding my breath page after page, I knew there was not going to be a HEA, and I was guessing the entire book trying to figure how it was going to end. I was wrong, totally not prepared. It was gut wrenching, heart stopping, such anguish, and heartbreak, what else can I say. This author is an exceptional author and proves herself book after book. Be prepared with your kleenex and read it today.

A story of love, loss, and the impact one person can have on so many lives. A story of how a person can overcome the darkness of their past and grow to be a good person and share their light with those around them. Showing that it's a choice to see the light out of the darkness.

Seven, a man who has demons, but is so much more than what you expect. He’s a crazy Mafia Capo, but he is also a loving, caring, kind man who will always be a hero to his daughter and Isla. A broken man that lives in the dark of his past. He has a soft side, but one little girl and one woman show him there is light to be found in his life.

Isla, a pediatrician who gets pulled into Seven’s life because he wanted a normal life for his daughter Nia. She claims to be an emotional woman, which she is, but she too, is so much more than what you expect. She’s strong, caring, and determined. She will go to the ends of the earth to protect children and those that she cares about.

Nia, a little girl who has seen too much for her young age. She’s reserved, quiet, and yet, she has so much love to share. She is the one who brings Seven and Isla together and she is the one person that they will protect at all costs.

I felt all of the emotions that the characters in this story felt while reading it. The pain the characters were going through, the sadness, the joy, the love, I felt it all. I loved it and wanted so much more.

The characters in these books, this is a standalone story from Roses & Thorns Series, evolve and grow so much in each book. Each one has grown in each story I've read, and I love all of the characters. The women are strong, they're fighters, and they're soft where they need to be. They fight for what they believe in as well as for the men they love, and the women who have come into their family. The men are ruthless, tough, and yet when it comes to their family, they are so different from what they show the outside world.

I give this story a 5-star review and so look forward to the next book by Bry Ann. I loved the ending of this story, it was perfect in every way.

What an absoultely amazig story!!

Bry Ann has once again, blown me away with this one! It was all so good; wonderful characters, sensitive issues, romance, darkness and then bam!!!! I was blubbering, emotional, heartbroken mess yet again! Completely blindsided by the ending! What can I say??? Please read this book (once you've caught up with the Roses and Thorns series) but have plenty of tissues close by. Highly recommended!

This book is a standalone and takes place after Frances and Marleys story, Graveyard Girl. I highly recommend you read that first to get a better understanding of the background.

I don't want to give to much of the storyline away. I will say that you will remember this book and its characters for a long time - they are all unforgettable ❤️

Seven adopted daughter Nia from off the streets. Nia is an elective mute and communicates by palm writing. Dr Isla Grace is a pediatrician who examines Nia when Seven brings Nia to her clinic.
Nia and Seven are in danger though, and they try to get to them by going through Isla. Seven takes steps to keep them both safe but he has his own demons, military PTSD.
Isla is taken and Seven discovers the enemy is his step father.

I completely fell in love with Seven, he is a giant softie and protective of his daughter even though he is still learning how to be a dad! It was Nia whole stole my heart, for a young girl who has seen saw much sadness she was a breath of fresh air.

Bry Anns' books are always emotional rollercoaster rides but this lifts you up to heaven and drops you quicker than a broken elevator cable!! Please heed the warning, this does not come with your typical HEA but Bry Ann finish was absolutely perfect. You will need a huge box of tissues and probably a lie down in a dark room afterwards!!

When I was told about the book, I thought I was ready, but... I was soo, soo not ready for this emotional rollecoaster... This is one of those books that will make you feel the full feelings from joy to tears.I laughter, I screamed, I cried, I sobbed at the end..
This is the story of Seven, who is thought to be tough, rude monster, but his love for the little Nia and Isla, the ones he love deeply is something else. Yes, he is tough, fierce, rude at times, but he is soo soo gentle, such a loving, caring father and lover...
Isla.... This little woman is so naive, she wants to see only good in people... But beneath her vulnerability is strong, caring woman who will do everything for her Danny boy, for Seven, for Nia, patients, little kids who need her.
Nia... This little angel, little princess entered my soul and I love her deeply. She is such a strong kid. I smiled with her, I cried with her...
Danny's wedding was one hell of a emotional scene, especially his BUG scene.

Finally we get the story of the new guy that showed up, seemingly out of the blue. Seven is such a contradiction, he is all alpha tough guy who doesn't talk a lot. But he has a soft spot for his adopted daughter Nia. When he is with her he is all soft and gentle. Isla is a do gooder, a pediatrician, and very naive. She is all caught up in a giant dangerous mess she doesn't quite understand. When Seven and Isla are together they both feel this attraction towards each other but both thinking they need to take this new found relationship slow. There are some twists in this book they will make u laugh, some will make u real sad and even shed tears, but it's a defs must read forsure!

Not what I was expecting at all. This is dark mafia romance with a twist. This story didn’t always flow seamlessly but it definitely packs a punch. My mind is blown away…

I hate & love Bry Ann at the same time for this one. I know she gave a warning it wouldn’t end in an HEA but damnit I was so invested!

I love Seven. I have to say out of all the books I’ve read, he is by far one of my favorites. It may just be me, but I can see a light in him, as dim as it may be, under his dark and dangerous exterior. And for some reason I’m drawn to it. Isla is so pure compared to Seven. She’s so sweet and loving. Her heart is so big. I love that Bry Ann made these two characters so opposite from one another but they go well together.

And then there’s Nia. Sweet Nia. This girl has captured my heart. She is so damn strong for someone so young. She has seen and been through a lot in her life but Seven has stepped up to be her dad and these two together are a bit comical. He’s so tough but with her he’s gentle. Can you say swoon? It’s just one more thing to love about him.

It’s been a long time since I’ve connected with characters as much as I have with Seven, Isla, & Nia. Thank you Bry Ann for writing this story. Thank you for bringing these characters to life. This books will stay with me.

One more thing....I’m claiming Nia. She’s my fictional adoptive daughter. Fight me on it! 😉❤️❤️

Quick read. Not my normal genre, but I loved this book. I had a whole range of emotions reading this story, laughing crying, etc. Isla is a doctor who sees the good in everything even Seven, a ex-military turned mafia single dad. They meet when Seven brings his adopted daughter Nia to her office. That visit caused a chain of events that lead to danger to the “family”. Be warned lot of violence in the book, but there is tons of love too. An unexpected ending that made me cry, but I loved. It should the true loved that Seven has for his girls.

Wow. So many emotions...

What an amazing story. I almost didn’t read it when I read the author’s warning, but I’m glad that I took the chance. This story gave me all of the feels. It was sweet and sexy, swoony and funny and OMG so incredibly heart wrenching. I’ve never read this author before, but I will looking for her books from now on.

Pain

How could you do this to me? I'm so emotionally hurting right now. I now understand why you said this isn't the typical HEA. I take back what I said in another review. Se7en is my favorite character in these books. I am so happy to have read it due to Isla and her quirkiness. Otherwise this was hilarious, sad, dark, and sweet.

Tragically we're together in heart.

I want a happy healing process end, but not the way it seems. But it in up as family forever deal. So much tragic events with death. For some people who want fantasy story to be like reality this is for you, with a surprise situation of a healing ending this for you. I am for the ending of the story. Okay slow burn book.

DNF!!!

I tried but I can’t be bothered. The writing is so bad and disjointed I can’t finish this. Also this story is full of backstory that I feel doesn’t add to drama. The Dr. acts like a child even though she’s A DOCTOR and PEDIATRICIAN!! I can’t with this. It’s like an ADD teen started writing this and kept getting interrupted.

Oh my heart!

Wow, its been a long time since a story captured my heart. The characters in Se7en are perfect and left me wrung out. Their stories, yes they each have one, fit together like puzzle pieces, and it plays out in the only way possible.

Great Storyline

Not what I expected but very good. Some things just are truly messed up for kids growing up & that’s what makes them who they are when they become adults! I can relate to this story more than most. Thanks to the Author & the skills to writing a great story.

A great story that pulls you in and when done leaves you wondering what the heck happened.

A dark story of love found and lost. How lives are changed and how the characters grow and change. You never know what is around the corner and that is what makes it so believeable.

I didn’t make it far into this novel. I thought Isla was immature and silky. I don’t think I was the target audience for this novel. I prefer my mafia romance darker with more sophisticated female characters.
