At the end of the last volume Subaru ended up taking a suicide bomb to the face but thanks to quick actions from Ferris we do not see a reset to the story (and get to see it seems there is resurrection magic or the cat people really do have nine lives) after Ferris casually mentions she only died once super casually. Now the war against Petelgeuse continues as the cultists are eliminated one after another and Petelgeuse is starting to run out of vessels to hijack. However we do see a restart to the story in this volume as Subaru discovers the harsh reality of his body switching foe. With new knowledge and the trust of his allies how will Subaru protect those that need him and avoid the fate that came before the reset? Only time will tell. :)
And there's another reset, but this time to a later event! Subaru, armed with more information, comes up with an even better plan than the previous one and manages to find out why the witch cult wants Emilia. It's a cliffhanger that leaves you wanting more and eagerly awaiting the next volume!
