How can you love someone when you don't know who you are anymore?
Julie: He’s the newest Sexiest Man Alive. I’m the most cheated-on woman in Hollywood, and my life is a PR nightmare. It can’t work.
Ian: All I want is a chance to show her that I am what she needs. I’ve waited for years, and I won’t give up, even if it means being tangled in all her drama. Some women are worth the wait.
The perfect guy comes with a pinch of kink, and the heroine could be seen as difficult and lost. Swearing is a must and being a mess is a prerogative — midlife crisis in progress.
"He holds me tight as I sob as if my Chihuahua is dead, my Botox went wrong, and my broken heart has shattered into a thousand pieces. I'm so glad I left my couch and my ice cream. Great fucking party." I was gifted the ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) of this book! Now I’ve never read one of Gabrielle G.’s books in the past and I did not know her prior to being approached to review her book. But I consider myself extremely lucky to have been gifted this work of literature. Can I just say… Y’all are in for a treat!...(Yes my inner Texan came out because my Southern Belle side is just that excited for this book and this book series!)
“I hate being so vulnerable, so broken and indecisive. I used to know what I wanted, who I wanted. I always thought by forty, I would have my shit together. I’m far from it.”
*side note* Can we all just agree that it is universally known that dating sucks? Doesn’t matter what age you are when you are commencing in the timeless act of mating or whatever it is we do when we seek another to share companionship with… but that, the awkward act of putting oneself out there to potentially have their hearts smashed, is a terrifying thing.
Julie, our heroine, has been married and divorced, and right as our story is beginning she is just getting out of a serious relationship. Unfortunately for Julie her breakup is more public than the average person. She is a writer and producer in Hollywood and is pretty well known and her ex?... one of the hottest country stars to date. Her most recent break-up definitely takes the cake for most public embarrassment. Ryan is Julie’s best friend. He’s a famous hunky actor who has looks that make the female population swoon! Too bad for everyone else, he is madly in love with his fiancée and soon to be baby mama…which kind of makes him even hotter- am I right? Ian is good friends with Ryan, and has been an acquaintance of Julie’s for a long time. They all run in the same circles. Ian is of course, a deliciously sculpted Adonis of a man who is an incredibly successful actor and director. Ian’s secret/ but not so secret? – He has had it bad for Julie for a looooong time! And now that she is single, he just wants to find a way to be there for her. Sounds like a great group of people who have a lot in common right? Well you would be correct! But let’s not forget that the paparazzi are the devil and drama and jealousies are found in all age groups. Just because you may have lived through something similar before does not mean you’re wiser to know how to handle it the second or third time around. Add some steaming hot sexual tension and some seriously blood pumping moments and you won’t know whether you want to Kiss, Kill, or F-…(*ahem* you get the idea)…the characters!
So what do I think overall?
I’m so glad you asked! I give this book four wine glasses AKA the whole bottle! This book had me rolling! I was laughing, I had “Awww” moments, and I especially had “WTF- Are you SERIOUS?!” moment. At one point in the book, I honestly didn’t know who I was rooting for. And yes, I’m being vague on purpose because this book isn’t released yet.
This is a must read! The book comes out on MARCH 12TH, 2019!!! Go preorder it on Amazon, add it to your TBR list on GoodReads. Well my dear friends, that's all I have for you for know! As always, let me know what you think and if you read it DEFINITELY let me know what you think!
This is my first book by Gabrielle G and it won’t be my last!
Let me tell you that there are going to be lots of times when you want to scream, yell and throw your kindle at the wall from these characters but it is worth it! Stick with it cuz it is GOOD!
I absolutely LOVED Ian! There was just something about him that stuck with me and made me love him from his very first scene. For being an actor he is very laid back and doesn’t act like and actor haha.
Julie on the other hand took some time for me to love lol. It doesn’t happen too often that I have the love/hate relationship with the heroine but Julie made me want to shake her and make her see the right way! But in the end I TOTALLY understood why she was the way she was, and you will too once you read the whole book!
Overall Gabrielle is a new author that I am going to keep reading for life now!
Absolutely loved this book! Had to finish it today because lord knows I couldn’t expect Julie to not make a mess of her life if I waited till tomorrow. Julie is a hot broken mess of a woman trying to figure her life out after horrendous betrayal. Sure sure they say 40 is the new 20 but what does that actually look like? Julie Legg that’s exactly what it is! If this girl can figure it out and find love so can you! Sure it’s gonna be a mess and there’s gonna be collateral damage but there always is! I love that these characters are just all broken in different ways and keep trying to find their way. Ian is soooo damn swoony then you find out he’s a kink master level 37 with a black belt! Yes! Sign me up! He’s got his own issues but is soo funny and thoughtful don’t even try to stop yourself from falling! Don’t bother you’re already half way gone girl!!
Go read this you will laugh and get mad and maybe have a little boo hoo! Happiest of debut writing for Gabrielle! I love your tribe gimme some more!!
What an awesome debut novel from Gabrielle G.! I really enjoyed that the characters were in the over 30 age spectrum. It’s nice to relate to characters in my age group.
The main character, Julie (Jules) is a hot mess due to hitting a low point in her personal life and it doesn’t help that she’s receiving media attention at the same time. I found Jules getting on my nerves throughout the book and I just kept thinking “Get over yourself.” This by no means is a negative factor to the book, but a testament to Gabrielle G.’s writing skill.
Luckily, Jules has her best friend Ryan, who is also part of the Hollywood Industry to help her get out of her funk. This is how she meets Ian, another Hollywood Star, whom she shares overwhelming chemistry with.
All characters are real and flawed, no matter that they should be older and wiser. When it comes to love and friendship, nothing is truly uncomplicated.
Always & Only by Gabrielle G. is a definite MUST read that will join the ranks of the BIBLIO-ELITE!!!
This debut novel of Gabrielle G.’s had me on an emotional rollercoaster from the very beginning.
Poor Julie Legg is the victim of her boyfriend Paul Hoffman’s constant cheating and finally enough is enough. After this last scandal, she’s dejected, humiliated and just needs her best friend, Ryan Marley, to help ease her out of her misery. Only, it’s Ian Porter who comes to her door to pick her up, and she’s keenly aware of their immediate attraction.
Ian was a perfect gentleman in this book. He’s wanted Julie for years now, but just hasn’t had his chance to be with her. Their relationship almost seems doomed before it ever starts. It’s like they just can’t seem to get on the same wavelength.
He discourages her from desperate pity sex, even after she literally begged him that first night. He was super patient with her during the course of this book, at times, with startling surprise. Julie had some flighty and unjustifiable emotional breakdowns, which were frustrating and maddening to say the least. There were times I just wanted Ian to say “this bitch isn’t worth it” and walk away because she put the poor guy through Hell.
Julie wasn’t your typical protagonist, but that’s actually what I liked about this story because it’s super realistic in that we don’t choose who we love and despite how irrational, selfish and ridiculous our emotions are sometimes, we are all worthy of love. And that was Ian with Julie. He forgave her over and over again for her insecure and quirky ways even when she didn’t deserve it. And trust me when I say, she had many moments where she needed to get her head out of her ass! I felt like Ian beat himself up over things that weren’t really his fault, despite how Julie felt on the matter. He was her knight in shining armor for sure, even when this damsel in distress needed a hard reality check.
Ryan was the best friend that tended to flirt with that line and there were times I was sure Julie and Ryan were going to end up together and thought, in fact, that maybe they should… But again, the heart wants what the heart wants. Ryan and Julie’s relationship was both complex and simple in the most beautiful of ways. I felt bad for Ryan in several moments of this book, but also wanted to smack him silly too as he spiraled out of control, wallowing in his own drama. I won’t divulge everything, you’ll just have to read it for yourself ;-)
Then there’s Ian’s family, which spun another story all together.
All in all, this was a great read with a fresh take. It was dramatic, sexy and funny! I loved the multiple characters and their stories, and I really liked that the characters were older. I enjoyed this book thoroughly and will definitely be reading book 2- Never and Forever!
This is my first read by this wonderful human being/author! I have been catching up with March still & finally had the chance to devour this book! Let's just say that I was full after eating this book up!!
Ian & Julie are well developed characters already! A something I really enjoy and love reading (aside from most of the books out now being in the 20's and early 30's) this was refreshing! Their chemistry was off the charts. Ian is the swoon worthy type and your knight in shinning armor that will come save you in the end of the day! I LOVED that about him, he was so much everything, the feelings, the actions...basically a perfect #bookboyfriend!
Now let's talk about Julie because I have a little to say about her. Despite knowing the situation she was in, going through and everything else SHE DROVE ME NUTS! It was a love/hate relationship with me and her because at one point it was fine, she was not indecisive, then BOOM change hehe drove me a little nuts but after reading the whole story it made a lot more sense. So, definitely keep through and give her a fighting chance.
All in all, I enjoyed the story line, the characters, and dare i say, the oh so sexy SEXY TIMES! I am glad I read this & gave it a 100% chance, well worth it! Will be a ongoing fan of Gabrielle!
I am rating this a 5 & RECOMMEND IT! H A P P Y - R E A D I N G
Gabrielle G. creates a masterpiece full of emotion, heartbreak and redemption. She weaves romance, bad situations, and true love into a story that makes you swoon and fall in love all over again.
Julie is a hot mess, which is real life for most people. I loved her and what her character represented: Heartbreak, Uncertainty, No self-confidence, confusion. We have ALL been there. All done that. I cried. I laughed. I said some not nice words about one of the characters. I felt EVERY. SINGLE. EMOTION. This author blew me a way!!! She takes celebrities and makes their story real because their lives are hard. Ian is a strong male that she needs, but doesn’t realize how much. Amazing characters, paired with scenes of steaminess, gives you the perfect equation for an amazing romance book!!
This books also shows that love can endure and weather anything in life. Their romance has so many ups and downs. So much hurt and heartbreak. But, they both get their heads on straight by the end and get their happily ever after. I can’t wait to see what this author brings next!!!
this is happening to you when you give a chance on a new author and when you read her book you be amazed. I'm so happy because Gabrielle gave me the opportunity to read her book it was "the book" so I received this book as an ARC copy and was wow. the book is well written also the characters. When you read ALWAYS AND ONLY you will meet Ian Porter and Julie. Ian is a loving and caring person with a dirty mouth. he had a crush on Julie for years but she was in a relationship with Paul the CHEATER. In the end, Julie had to put her brain out of her ass and see things clearly.
in this book you will meet Ryan; he was and still an enigma to me. i want to read his book so bad :(
I LOVED THIS BOOK! Ian ended up being my fav character and despite Julie being a mess, I loved her too!!! This book is a must read guys! I know the author personally and she ROCKS! can't wait to read more and more of her books ❤❤
Congrats to Gabrielle on her debut novel. Loved it!
So many times I wanted to strangle Jules!!! I loved how Gabrielle wrote all the characters, I suppose when you have reactions to characters it's a really good element.
Jules is distraught after getting the worst news in her personal life. She has her best friend Ryan to lean on. She tries her best to put a brave face and move forward. In the meantime, she meets Ryan's good friend Ian a handsome Hollywood star.
Ian has always had a thing for Jules but knowing she was in a relationship he respectively backed off. Now is his chance to get Jules back into the dating game and make her realize he is the one for her.
A triangle friendship full of lust, betrayal and the biggest lack of trust. This book has a little of everything you will wanna strangle Jules but like anything else, She needs to come to terms with herself in order to move on...
My Review 5⭐️ A͙L͙W͙A͙Y͙S͙ & O͙N͙L͙Y͙ Julie Legg has just gotten out of a devastating relationship with a famous country singing star. Not only does she have to get over this. She also has to figure out what she wants. Her best friend Ryan Marley who has his own issues or Ian Porter the heart throb who just so happens to be Ryan's best friend! One of the many reason I loved this book was because I could relate to it! The character yes maybe be famous but they are in their 40's! It's rare a Hollywood romance novel has characters this age. The second reason I loved this book was it didn't sugar coat how Julie went thru her break up. Break ups are hard, they leave you with issues that the next person has to help you overcome. That's the hard part trusting someone enough to help you overcome them. That's real! That's what this book had! The beaus in this novel were redeeming! Also very hot and steamy! “Do you know how difficult it was to see another man treating you with disrespect? Can you understand how much I’ve wanted you all along?” Ian Porter Can Julie make her decision before Ian gets tired of waiting for her? Pick up this 5⭐️ novel and find out!
ALWAYS & ONLY BY Gabrielle G 4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Release Date March 12
First off I’d like to say congrats to Gabrielle G for delivering such a strong debut novel. It refreshing to see characters that aren’t the normal 20-30 year olds that I’m used to reading about.
The characters were well developed and I loved Ian and his superhero, knight in shining armour persona. Jules was infuriating but relatable. Her relationship with Ryan is super realistic and I loved how they were together.
A story about love, friendship, betrayal, trust and communication. It was a great read. In all honesty, the whole people grow wiser with age is a load of bs. Lol. These 40 year olds are no better at relationship than the average 20 year old. Lol
I highly recommend Gabrielle’s debut novel to all. This is only the beginning for this author, I look forward to what else she gives us! Great job hun!
WOW, this was a wild ride through Hollywood. The debut novel by Gabrielle G. is a rollercoaster of emotions, heartbreaks and unpredictable situations. I would also describe it as chaotic actions that are followed by more drama and more heartbreaks 🤦🏻♀ You're transported into a world of the rich and famous, whose lifes are really strange and complicated. Not only because they are constantly followed by reporters and fans, their life being a public knowledge, but also their insecurities who they can trust or who only wants a piece of the good famous cake 🤓 Julie, oh Julie...this women is so annoying sometimes, that you want to strangle her constantly 🤭 She is the one who got hurt badly at the beginning and tries to find her way back to herself. The only problem is, she doesn't really know what she wants 🤦🏻♀. This constant back and forth, back and forth, can really make you scream 🤬. Then we've two very different men in her life. One of them is her best friend and one that waited a long time to have a chance to be more than friend. A really complicated triangle "friendship" which brings even more problems to the already very painful situation. In short, I loved this book 😍 and enjoyed it very much 🤗 I recommend this book to all the romance with drama, passionate "love" 🔥 and big HEA lovers.
Where do I start? How about this was Gabrielle G.'s debut novel! Yep, I'll leave this right here while you read and wonder if I'm lying.
Julie is a hot mess, there is no other way to describe her. But she is REAL!! She made me want to shake her, and throw my kindle. She's just ending a relationship were her ex constantly cheated on her. (This hit home a lot for me, although I'd like to think maybe I'm handling it better than her) But point is, she is a relatable character. You cannot help but connect to her at the same time you're wanting to just scream in her face.
Ian is that guy you can't help but love. He's liked Julie for years and even with that he didn't take advantage of Julie. Ian sticks it out and doesn't give up on Julie. Their love is this slow burn, that was enough to drive me completely crazy.
The love that Julie and Ian have is perfect, and their story was perfect! Sometimes love is stronger when it's worked for not just there, and I think Julie and Ian have that kind of love!
I absolutely loved all the characters in this book, they each brought something to the story! Every book I read by Gabrielle G. I love her more!
Thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and getting lost in Gabrielle G's world. The characters are vivid and likeable. Ian Porter is, for want of a better word, hot. Deliciously desirable and a great male character, as sexy male characters go. Jules made me laugh every step of the way. Her quirks are endearing and also very relatable. I enjoyed every rise and fall throughout the book and whenever I had to put it down, I was left starving for more - so much so I read it in one night. Romance/Erotic Literature is so hard to get right and I've seen so many writers get it wrong, but Gabrielle G treads the thin line between smutty and 'oh my god am I blushing?'. Loved it and will definitely be recommending to everybody (specifically girls) I know. Can't wait for more Angels and Sunshine books!
What a great story! I loved Ian & Julie’s story! The characters were very real... the story was well written, and it kept me turning the pages! Excellent job by Gabrielle G... a truly talented author! I’m looking forward to more of her work!
You killed this @authorgabrielleg! And there you were yesterday, doubting your abilities. Nah, you could have done better.
I am ecstatic. Undone. Completely in awe with this book. It's sweet, cheesy, angsty and kinky in just a right amount. I hated Julie. I loved Ryan and Ian. Gabrielle delivered this perfectly. All the characters were given proper screen time. I had a second lead syndrome too but oh well, when Ian's in the house, you don't need it anybody else. The steamy romance was up to the par with dialogues sputtering cheesiness everywhere. There's a depth to Julie and Ian's relationship. They fall in love but not unrealistically. Perfect timing for situations. I did not find it rushed. They took their own time for love, fights, tears and drama. Gabrielle, you owe me another book soon :P Please don't make me wait longer.
Congratulations honey, you took my expectations to a different level with this.
I read this book because book 2 has been highly recommended, and I’m a stickler for following series in order. I’m glad I read it because I think it’s going to be important to understand the history of the H and h in book 2.
I liked the characters and the writing is good. Dialogue is good and believable. I liked the ending and left feeling satisfied.
But I was extremely frustrated during the bulk of this story. A bunch of forty-something Hollywood players acting like a bunch of selfish kids. Back and forth in a triangle, it was hard to follow at times. Eventually the H and h redeem themselves (to me at least), but it was a tough go for awhile.
I started reading Gabrielle G when I was gifted a book from the Darling Devils series. After I devoured that series I knew I needed more of her work. I love the crossover of characters from series to series. The group in each series are different but blend together to create wonderful friendships. In this series you will discover friends who are opinionated but love each other regardless.
Ian and Julie's story is sure to drive you insane. These two adults are self centered - especially Julie. You discover even middle aged adults make huge mistakes. Ian has wanted Julie as his for awhile. When her relationship with her long term boyfriend ends, he takes it as his chance. Her best friend, Ryan, plays a huge role in their relationship as he is Ian's friend as well. There is a lot of self doubt, indecisiveness, and plain stupidity. Getting past the fear of trying again at love is costly, but worth it in the end.
The Scoobydoo gang, which consist of the characters of this series, will frustrate you beyond end, but will also win you over!
I finally got to the point to read Gabrielle G. debut novel. I read Darling already, and Julie plays a part in this book and she didn’t really leave me with a good impression on her 😬
This book is about friendship, hurt, betrayal, love, but also losing said friendship. In my opinion a book is a good book when I feel for and with the characters in the story. And I did, I really did!! I totally wanted to jump in and shake them, slap them, hug them and console them, lol.
I totally recommend this book, even if I sometimes didn’t like the main character(s), but this is what the author wanted and she made that happen! I’m excited to see how the stories in the Hollywood world continues!
4.5 Stars From the Author of one of my favorite books of 2019 "Dan Darling" comes this semi related story. I can honestly say that Ms G. kept me guessing on this story between Julie and her BFF Ryan and Ryan and his BF Ian. I had noo clue what Julie was going to do and that my friends is what kept me glued to this story. Julie is a woman that you want to b*tch slap and at 40, you would think has her act together, but not when Hollywood is involved. Ian is yummy and HOT, Ryan is a WIP and along with all sorts of interesting characters that grace these pages and I am looking forward to reading more.
Always and Only. What can I say about this book... I loved that it was a story touching on something different like addiction which made the story more genuine. Right amount of grit and emotion without making it boring and sexy sences 😍 I loved how Julie managed to find someone special in the midst of having already suffered heartache and a lot of self doubt about herself. Ian is the handsome Hollywood bachelor that thought he was immune to finding someone he could love the way he loved them after again being heartbroken. True love never runs smooth 😊
Omg how many times can my heart break while reading a book?? I didn’t actually count but it was A LOT! I actually feared for the life of my kindle on several occasions. This story was filled with so many laughs, tears and steam there was no way I could put it down. I am totally reading this series out of order because I read book 3-Often & Suddenly first but honestly it doesn’t make a difference. I love the way the characters are introduced and how they intertwine with each other. Now onto book 2 because I need more of these people and sleep is overrated.
Starting with the main cast, Ian the man with the knight in shining armour complex (what an idiot), Ryan the best friend no one needs in the end and Jules (saying what a b*tch) flaky, unreliable looking for love but doesn't want it. The added cast are not as bad because if they are feeding off the mains energies well what is to be expected of them. If falling in love in Hollywood is that messed up who needs love, and for a mature romance...yikes! It would be better if they were in their 20s because immaturity rained down, just as much as the sex scenes.
I liked the story more because it taught me that you don't have to be a teenager, both in real life and in fiction, to behave like an immature and self-centered person. Julie became a load-bearing, frustrating and supermature person. I admired Ian during the middle of the book. In the end I was disappointed.
Me gustó la portada... y fue lo único, porque QUÉ HORROROSA OLLA DE MONDONGO FUE ESTA!!!! En serio tenía cuarenta??? No eran cuatro???
This story sucked me in so fast and had me hooked until the very end!!! Julie drove me nuts but Ian's patience with her was amazing! The secondary characters also kept me wondering and I'm so excited to get their stories as this series continue!!
I have more expectations about this book. Ian was too good to be true since the beginning and I really hated the attitude of Julie during the story. She’s on her 40’s, but her reactions seems a teenager
