Rate this book
A latent Ch05En gene destines someone for greatness. Maybe you'll be a rock star, or CEO of a fortune 500.

Maybe you'll be a superhero.

Welcome to the world of Ch05En.

Factions is an inclusive anthology that offers additional details on three of the major factions in the Ch05En Universe: Freelancers, Capes, and The Aggregate. These stories stand alone but when read together give alternative perspectives on events that all take place in the same timeline. Follow the Freelancers as they embark on their first mission, the Capes as they chase the Freelancers, and The Aggregate as they try to accomplish their goal while the aforementioned groups clash.

~ABOUT THESE STORIES~

Freelancers:

"A former police officer, Lip's seniority allowed him to keep his job in
the face of the global defunding of police forces everywhere. Newly
retired, Lip finds work as a cameraman for a Global Television network
devoted to showcasing the lives of Freelancers who are looking to make a
name for themselves. Assigned to an Elementalist named Ziem, Lip finds
himself showcasing the Freelancer's exploits with his newly formed team
made up of a Specian moleman and a woman who throws things exceptionally
well. Here's what happens when people use their powers for personal gain."

Capes:

"Meke's Ch05En gene made him a Fighter, someone inherently good at taking
massive amounts of damage. Unfortunately, it also gave him The Static - an
entity inside of him that forces him to fight each day or risk going
berserk. When the Global Heroes Society sends Meke on a mission with his
partner Trill, an Elementalist who can manipulate fire, he discovers that
there's more to his job than just getting punched in the face all the time.
He also finds a kind of love only he can enjoy along the way. Here's what
being a Cape is all about."

Aggregate:

"Born with telekinesis, Kay spent her childhood in a poverty-stricken city
as part of a family that lived all the way at the bottom of modern society.
Escaping her father’s physical abuse, she spends the better part of her
teens and early twenties as a Genetic Extremist, helping those with strong
Ch05En genes thrive as she works for their leader, Ghost. Realizing she
traded one type of abuse for another, Kay escapes from Ghost’s thrall to
try once more to make a living while also helping people like her. When she
sets up shop in a small town not unlike where she grew up, The Aggregate
come calling, offering her a deal she just can’t refuse. This is what
happens when you negotiate with terrorists."

A day in the life of a few super hero's

An interesting concept for a story and it makes you think about the days in the life of a super hero. Where do you get your jobs and who are your Friends. A little choppy to read and tie all the characters together but a fun read nevertheless.
