Tess Thompson Romance...hometowns and heartstrings.

Tess Thompson is the USA Today Bestselling and award-winning author of contemporary and historical Romantic Women’s Fiction with over 60 published titles. When asked to describe her books, she could never figure out what to say that would perfectly sum them up until she landed on, Hometowns and Heartstrings.

She’s married to her prince, Best Husband Ever, and is the mother of their blended family of four kids and five cats. Best Husband Ever is seventeen months younger, which qualifies Tess as a Cougar, a title she wears proudly. Her Bonus Sons are young adults with pretty hair and big brains like their dad. Daughters, better known as Princess One and Two, are teenagers who make their mama proud because they’re kind. They’re also smart, but a mother shouldn’t brag.

Tess loves lazy afternoons watching football, hanging out on the back patio with Best Husband Ever, reading in bed, binge-watching television series, red wine, strong coffee and walks on crisp autumn days. She laughs a little too loudly, never knows what to make for dinner, looks ridiculous kickboxing in an attempt to combat her muffin top, and always complains about the
rain even though she chose to live in Seattle.

She’s proud to have grown up in a small town like the ones in her novels. After graduating from the University of Southern California Drama School, she had hopes of becoming an actress but was called instead to writing fiction. She’s grateful to spend most days in her office matchmaking her characters while her favorite cat Mittens (shhh…don’t tell the others) sleeps on the desk.

She adores hearing from readers, so don’t hesitate to say hello or sign up for her newsletter:
http://tesswrites.com/. You’ll receive an ebook copy of her novella, The Santa Trial, for your
efforts.

Much to her father’s horror, you can find her everywhere on social media.

There was the most annoying sound she'd ever heard and her poor head was pounding when she finally found her cell phone.
California had been home once a long time ago.
Jackson was sure he was slowly
losing his mind because he thought he saw someone he knew was gone and that was the girl he'd been head over heals for had been gone for a decade and some change.
There was a grave marker with her name on it clearly someone had a morbid sense a humor.
No she could see just who was behind this and he was sicker then she ever thought.
And never once in her life did she think she'd have to prove she wasn't dead especially to someone she'd known forever.
Jackson starred at his brother like he had two heads nothing he said was making any sense.
Yet seeing her with his own eyes after all this time was almost to much for him to handle.
Maggie really wasn't much better but she honestly didn't want to wreck his life either.
Nevertheless he had something he needed to take care of and oh boy this wasn't going to be easy and he'd been right like a proverbial lead balloon.
Jackson knew he'd just corrected a huge mistake weather she believed him or not.
The only reason she ever came back was the devil was finally coming to collect that mean ole miser she'd once called dad and before he was done she was going to get the ugly truth.
Maggie wasn't about to back down especially not after all these years she rather know then spend the rest of her life with all the what ifs.
But there was also hope.

Touching and tender

Like a good cook, Tess Thompson bastes her stories with flavor and richness, bit by bit, until they’re bursting with all the necessary ingredients—warmth, caring, tenderness, love, and lots and lots of romance.

In Book 1 of the Cliffside Bay books you meet Brody and Kara, a football superstar and a woman on the run. Book 2 focuses on Jackson, a hometown doctor, and Maggie, a hopeful Broadway star. And Book 3 highlights Zane, a restaurant owner, and Honor, Brody’s assistant.

One of Thompson’s gifts is creating family. Not just the biological ones but the ones that come from friends. From community. From strangers stepping up to help those in need. Cliffside Bay may be a sleepy town on the Northern California coast, but life throws some horrendous curves to the people who live there. To offset these challenges, grit and determination weave through all the stories along with the pure and simple love of people who care, people who have your back, people who put you first because that’s just what you do.

Get the tissues ready. My eyes teared up many times over the beautifully tender moments. It’s not always a straight line to “I love you and want to be with you,” but the journey is well worth the rocky detours. Thompson’s stories shine. I know you’ll love these Cliffside Bay books as much as I did.

Series gets better, book by book.

I'm really enjoying Tess Thompson's "Cliffside Bay" series. I truly enjoyed the first book, "Traded." It had strong characters, an up to date plot, and lots of love. Book two, "Deleted," wasn't as great for some reason. It was worth reading, though, as it prepared me for "Jaded." This is the best book in the series so far. The narrative is fluid, and I like the fact that the author keeps the bedroom door mostly shut. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series to see what life and love have in store for the rest of the Dogs and their friends.

I found each of these stories compelling, but if I had read each of them separately I would have enjoyed them more. Having them in a bundle together, meant that the faults were glaringly magnified. Each heroine had lost her mother at the age of 10 in a horrible way, and there were many other similarities which I won't go into because of spoilers. I had to suspend my disbelief so much by the third book that I really didn't enjoy it as much as the other two, and the second was not as enjoyable as the first. I felt like Tess Thompson had a formula for writing these books - poor, badly treated heroine, tough but wonderful hero - which is a shame because I have really enjoyed her Blue books.

I have read and reviewed each title of this set under the individual titles.
I also have to state that I have already read or listened to 5 titles in this series, and that each title, although highlighting one couples journey to finding each other, also carries on the everyday backstory of the others that make the "The Dogs and Wags" and the other individuals that you grow to know, and love, along the way. So,in hindsight, listening or reading the series in order is recommended, but I found, like catching up with an old friend, after being away for a time, the tale is still as interesting and dramatic out of order.

I want a trip to Cliffside Bay

This is a new author to me, but I'm very grateful to have found her and this exciting series. This review will be short because I need to get to the next books as fast as I can. These are wonderful, complicated, unexpected, emotional romances. Don't try to guess the outcome because you'll be wrong. Please just relax and let the stories, with their mysteries, evolve. The happenings and secrets in these characters lives will shock you. Enjoy!

First books by this author

I thoroughly enjoyed these books. The characters were well developed and were not perfect cookie cutter characters. Some of the scenarios were hard to believe but the author introduced them in a way that was believable in the story.

I really enjoyed the town and the building of friendships during adversity. I want to read more by this author. I got this bundle free to try the author.

Tess provides views into putting God First, pray and family.

Some people feel they're not deserving of someone else's love or they can't provide love of another. Brokenness doesn't have to be shattered or placed together with cracks where water seeps through, we can replace or discard the brokenness and start fresh.

Trust, hope and believing is the secret of following the trail within the path of life's road map with faith that God has our future for us.

Healing the traumas hidden in the shadows

Tess’s stories take us deep into revealing and healing traumas that have been hidden in the shadows that no one wants to speak about. We become empathetic with each of her characters as they reveal their deepest fears and emotions. Thus, it brings awareness, compassion, and healing for all of humanity.

Small town but big stories!

Well written with great characters you want to be friends with. Each story was unique but I loved how all the characters were included in each story and kept the flow and feel of a tight knit group that became a family.
Each story was well rounded and included in depth characters and their own arc.

Touching & Complex Plots, Excellent Writing

These three novels build on one another, and center on a cast of characters that are woven together so that you feel familiar throughout the series. I had some moderate offensive language concerns that mostly did not really add to the narrative.

These stories are lovely to read; at the moment we are tired of reading and seeing what the virus has done to peoples lives all over the world. I have enjoyed them all and reading some of the other in the series. Thank You Tess.

Three Beautiful Beginnings

Tess has a way of drawing you into each of the characters of her books. And with these three you see where new love, old love, and friends are more like a family than individuals.

Great read

Great read. Clean read. Loved the characters, what wonderful friends they all became. They all came into their relationships with. A lot of baggage that they worked through with their partners. Stayed very close.

What a wonderfully uplifting set of books with gripping, well-developed stories. Refreshing to read about people's lives without being subject to explanations of graphic sex. Good language too. The author's vocabulary is excellent. Thank you. I look forward to reading the rest of the series.

Clean and Christian

I very much enjoyed this series bundle. The 3rd book is probably my favorite. I usually prefer a heathy does of sexy in my romances. This is a clean, sex-free (definitely not my preference), and Christian romance.

Dramatic

I wasn't certain what to expect from Honor and Zane's story as they are both so headstrong and stubborn but honestly, this is one of my favorites. With loads of drama and suspense this book will keep you guessing at every turn.
