When a Highlander Weds a Hellion Julie Johnstone is book 8 in the Highlander Vows: Entangled Hearts Series. This is the story of Broch MacLeod and Katreine Kinntoch. I have read the previous books (and Loved them!) but feel you can make this a standalone book if you wish to do so.
Broch mother died never letting it know to her brother who his father was, so it was assumed he was a bastard. Broch worked hard to be a productive part of his Uncle's clan, being a great warrior, and being King David's right had man. When task to bring in the 'Hellion of the Highlands', who is Katreine. Katreine's sister died which the family lays it on the hands of their neighbors. So when the King is working to end the clan feud between the two with a marriage. But Katreine isn't having it and her family is standing with her. Broch vows to help find out what happened to her sister and bring the information to the King if its found true. But things are found out..of course the sparks are flying between the two...and there is a mystery to unwrap.
This book took me in from the start! Loved it.

At last !
Broch is here , how long have we waited for this book , but Julie has done us proud.
Really enjoyed reading this , poor Broch got hit with a real Hellion but took it like a man .
Katerine is so feisty and funny in places but she has a beautifully tender side ,for those she loves.
Her bothers characters were also wonderful , I do hope we see more from them and Brodee .
The book had some really tender moments, written beautifully as always with so much emotion , by Julie, and the action ran smoothly throughout the story.
This is a great addition the the Entangled Hearts Series, I cant wait to see who’s next , I have a suspicion who it is,but that may be a spoiler so I’ll keep it to myself .
I received an advance copy of this book and chose to submit a review

When a Highlander Weds a Hellion by Julie Johnstone is a wonderfully written and thoroughly captivating story. Broch is a Highlander with a reputation and has something to prove. He is quite the irresistible hero! Katreine didn’t get the nickname Hellion of the Highlands for no reason. She is a beautiful, strong willed, stubborn female who shows him what he was really missing. Her character was so fun and easy to like.

A lot happens in a small amount of time and it hooked me from the very beginning. It is fast paced, unpredictable and full of action/adventure. I really loved the storyline and the characters. I only have one tiny question, not important enough to affect my review in any way, but what happened to Sheba? I didn’t realize until hours after I finished the book that the cat never made another appearance. Absolutely loved this book though!! 5 stars

WOW… just Wow!!! When a Highlander Weds a Hellion by Julie is book 8 in the Highlander Vows: Entangled Hearts series and what a series. Though in a series this book can be read as a standalone. This Medieval Scottish story is some of Julies’s best writing to date. Kudos Julie! The characters are just wonderful and the descriptions are very visual. It also has a twist of the enemies to lovers genre. I am not going to tell you what that twist is so you will just have to read this book to find out and when you do you will understand what I am saying. It also has a bit of a mystery to it so what more could you ask from a story. This story had murder, an arranged marriage, an attack, injuries, a tough heroine, trying to find the truth, an ongoing feud, a bastard, running away, misunderstandings, resentment, jealousy, kindness, a piece of land to be split, love and so much more. What an amazing story and I highly recommend you read this book!

***This book was gifted to me and I am voluntarily reviewing.

When I'm in the mood to travel to Medieval Scotland through the pages of a book, Julie Johnstone is one of the first authors to whom I turn. Time and again, she creates intriguing, complex characters who capture my interest and my heart then skillfully guides them along a tumultuous, frequently dangerous, always emotional journey to the love and happiness they so richly deserve. Her ability to bring the Medieval era, Scottish countryside, and people of that time to life through her words never fails to immerse this reader deeply into the lives of her characters as they battle the forces standing in the way of their HEA.

I adored Broch. My heart ached for the boy inside the man who had always stood just outside the circle of his chosen clan and rejoiced when he finally found his rightful place. I admired his tenacity, his loyalty, his sense of honor, and his patience. And I fell hard for his tender heart. He needed a strong woman to challenge him and, boy howdy, did Katreine fit that bill! She's more than earned her "hellion" status but the reasons for her fierceness are those to which anyone who has lost a loved one to tragedy can relate. And it's that very quality that draws Broch to her. The banter between these two is all that is wonderful but the tenderness, respect, and trust that slowly develops and gradually opens their hearts to the possibilities of love is all that and more.

There's much more to this story involving clan feuds, deception and betrayal, mysterious murders, and sibling rivalry but going into detail would reveal spoilers that are better discovered within the pages of the book. I will just say that there are multiple secondary characters who I sincerely hope we'll be seeing more of in future stories.

When a Highlander Weds a Hellion is the eighth book in Johnstone's Highlander Vows: Entangled Hearts series. While readers of the series will recognize Broch from appearances in previous books, this book stands completely on its own. However, if you're in the mood for a fast-paced, adventurous, and deeply emotionally Medieval romance, you can't go wrong with Julie Johnstone. I highly recommend all eight books in the series.

When a Highlander Loves a Hellion
By Julie Johnstone

Broch MacLeod has discovered his real family and he intends to do whatever it may take to find his place in it even if it includes marrying Katreine the lady known as the hellion of the Highlands.

Katreine Kinntoch is very strong willed, independent, and she is being forced to marry her sworn enemies son. She may not like it, but she'll do it knowing she will never surrender her body or her heart to her soon to be husband. She has a great plan. A plan to make him hate her so much and so bad that he will send he packing back home, but sometimes the best of plans don't always turn out the way we intend and danger and treachery soon bring them closer. Closer then she ever expected, but will they trust eachother enough to love eachother or will they succumb to the revenge?

Julie Johnstone is as ever the perfect writer when it comes to Highlanders. She wrote an amazing book with characters that were both sweet, sexy, feisty, and wonderful together. These two were made for eachother and it doesn't get better then this. I can't wait to see who she writes about next in the Entangled Hearts Series because whoever it is you know it's going to be a real page turner if it's written by Ms. Johnstone.

When a Highlander Weds a Hellion is book 8 in the Highlander Vows: Entangled Hearts series by Julie Johnstone. Although part of a series it can easily be read as a standalone book.

Highland warrior Broch MacLeod never knew his mother because she died not long after giving birth to him. She also wouldn't tell her brother who the father was so Broch grew up knowing he was a bastard. Because of that, he has always fought hard to earn his place in his Uncle's clan, and through working as the King's right-hand man. It's as the latter that he is tasked to finding a woman who has disappeared rather than marrying a man who she believes murdered her sister. The marriage was meant to join two feuding clans and allow them to share a much fought over piece of land between the two holdings.

Katreine Kinntoch is the woman in question. She loves her family and she doesn't want the feud to continue between the clans but she refuses to bring herself to marry the man meant for her even though the King decrees it. When Broch does indeed find her he promises her that he will investigate fully her allegations including raids that had been happening at her home and if he finds that she is correct he will advise the King to not make her marry.

What happens when he does investigate is quite a twist, and I don't want to say any more about it because it's better to read for yourself. I will, however, say that Broch and Katreine have an immediate attraction to each other and when they end up in each other's arms there are definitely fireworks.

This book is fast-paced, exciting, definitely not predictable, and was a real pleasure to read. I loved how Broch and Katreine were so perfect for each other, they complimented each other beautifully. There were dark moments to the story but they were lifted easily by the fabulous light-hearted moments, especially Broch's flirting, oh and fabulous scenes involving Katreine's black cat! The latter definitely had me laughing out loud. I enjoyed this book so much that despite it being so late in the series I want to buy the rest and read them from the start!!

Broch MacLeod has grown up thinking he had to forever earn his place. He has fought with the dangerous Dark Riders, fought and won many battles and still has had to endure ridicule about being born a bastard. We have known this about Broch from the other stories...his need to belong is really in his head. His clan, laird and King (he is now the King's right hand) all love, respect and feel he belongs. Brock still has the achy need to know...who was his father and if the woman who his Uncle says is really his mother (she died when he was a bairn)... Which brings us to now. The King has sent Broch to make sure a wedding happens. The Blackwell first born must marry the Kinntock lass. Uniting their waring clan...There has been raiding, murder and heartbreak. Broch is to find Kitreine, who has gone missing and whose nickname is the Hellion of the Highlands, and make she weds Brodee the eldest son. He finds Kitreine in trouble and rescues her. Both feel an instant attraction, but Broch knows he can not act because that would mean he would let down the King. Kitreine BEGs him to find the truth who murdered her sister (who was supposed to marry Brodee) so he can call off the wedding. He agree and starts investigating. What he finds is a whirlwind of mystery, love, loss and more murder.

Julie Johnstone has once again weave a magical tale along with mystery to make to glued to the book. Her main characters are so full of life. Her secondary characters aren't quiet either, they jump out of the pages just begging for their own stories too....Love Book 8 in this series...it did NOT disappoint!

I’d waited quite a while for Broch to have his story & it was worth the wait. Another engrossing, enthralling read. The characters have lots of depth, Broch & Katreine are so likeable she’s feisty & a true Hellion. Broch is everything you want in a hero, honourable, strong, caring & toe curlingly gorgeous & I’ve loved him throughout the series. Whilst the Macleods have all had their stories new characters were introduced in this book & I hope that they have their stories as I'm not ready to leave the world of the Macleods! I loved the antics Katreine got up to & all the time Broch was so protective. I did feel the ending was a little rushed & what happened to Sheba? As well as a lovely romance there were some murders to be solved & two clans to pacify
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

Broch MacLeod has worked extra hard to be the best warrior in Scotland.  That need to prove himself has led him to now be King David's right hand man.  The task he has been given this time is to make sure a marriage between two warring clans takes place to bring peace.
Our hero might be an incredibly strong and brave warrior , but he has a desperate need to belong.  This could cause him problems.
Katreine Kinntoch is known as the hellion of the highlands.  Since the death of her sister at the hands of their neighbours,  she has learnt how to defend herself and be strong.  There is no way she will marry into that family,  and luckily her father and brothers agree.
Our brave heroine finds herself torn between family loyalty, the safety of her clan and the desire in her heart.
An exciting,  romantic Highland adventure with a murder / mystery to solve.  Lots of danger for all of the characters and surprising discoveries.
Great fun.

Brock and Katreine's story is okay. The problem is its a story that has been told many times by many different Historical Romance authors. Its like a cookie cutter storyline that most authors use for a highlander romance. Nothing new. But it moves fast. The H/H are both likeable and you understand there points of view. Its just not anything new!!

Two desires collide and loyalties are tested.

A powerful tale of a Highlander longing to belong and the Hellion determined to avoid marriage to the enemy. When an encounter brings the two together and may possibly bring their dreams to life the unexpected happens. One may get what they want and one may be forced to accept they will never realize theirs.

Julie Johnstone has honed her Medieval writing skills to perfection. Broch MacLeod’s longing to belong and Katreine Kinntoch’s strong will (truly a Hellion) jump off the pages. And the secondary characters??? Ms. Johnstone has written great supporting secondary characters that do not overwhelm the hero and heroine; however, they do make me wonder who is next. 😊

I have read this entire series but Julie Johnstone has gone way above the bar on this one! I have waited for Broch to get his story and am not disappointed in the result. He was labeled a Bastard and he has worked hard to prove his worth to his uncles clan. As the Right Hand to the King, he has been sent to get Katerine
Kinntoch to ensure her marriage to Brodee Blackswell. When Broch finds her she is about to be violated by Blackswell warriors. This story is about trusting yourself and others. Broch is honorable with low self esteem and Katerine is a strong, stubborn female. Together, sparks ignite and burn. This is a wonderful book with excellently written characters. Travel back to medieval Scotland through the pages of Julie’s book. It’s a beautiful trip indeed and one I’ll promise you’ll love. I was gifted this book and am voluntarily reviewing.

When A Highlander Weds a Hellion is book 8 in the Highlander Vows: Entangled Hearts series by Julie Johnstone. I have enjoyed every one of these books. They can be read as stand alone works, but they are so much better in a series. The richness of the characters is better tracked in reading them in order. I liked this book, but it wasn’t my favorite in the series. I did like the hero Broch MacLeod. But I wasn’t a huge fan of the heroine Katriene. I grow weary of “strong Scottish females” who actually are just stubborn and misguided. Overall a good book with complex characters and some twists and turns that I didn’t expect. I was gifted a copy of this book.

Broch MacLeod, King David's Right Hand has been sent to the Rough Boards to find Katleine Kintoch and see her married to Brodee Blackswell, Laird Blackswells heir, to unite the two clans and stop them from feuding. When he arrives he finds three Blackswell warriors trying to abuse her, he quickly despatched two and injures the other and sends him on his way. After speaking to her and her family they tell him about the discourse between the families stating that Brodee is a murderer and that they keep raiding them, promising to find the truth and petition the king of it proves true to stop the wedding Broch goes to see the Blackswells.

Now, everyone knows the legend of Broch MacLeod, the Beast of Skye and how they call him Bastard, as he knows not who his father is, and not even sure if he is a MacLeod, so imagine if you will, what would happen if the truth of his birth came to light and he found that not only does he have a father and that his parents were wed, but that he was also the eldest and so the heir.

As you can probably guess, Brodee is not a murderer, but someone is, and that same person is responsible for the Ill will between the clans, and..... Broch is the one that has to wed as per the Kings dictate.

So now not only does he need to find who it is, but he also has to contend with a very angry wife.

This is absolutely brilliant, I read it in a day, I couldn't put it down, not that I wanted too, it is exciting and I was rooting all the way for Broch and even Brodee, and thought Katleine was a spoilt child who didn't want to see further than her family's hate, I could understand it, but felt like shaking her, but then that is the brilliance of Julie Johnstone's writing. It makes you feel.

I received a copy and I am voluntarily leaving my own honest opinion

As an avid reader of this series I waited a long time for Broch to have his story. He started out as a secondary character who grew throughout the books, almost like he was calling out for his HEA. Thankfully Julie heard him and has written a story worthy of him and as always given him a heroine who is bold, fierce and brave. Broch has spent his life trying to prove his worth not realizing he is worthy, he has also been searching for a sense of belonging. In this book his mission for the King takes him to a place he never thought he would find. Katreine, our fearless heroine is determined not to marry the man she blames for the death of her sister and forever be tied to the family she hates. Enter our cocky hero, as you can imagine sparks fly instantly between these two. Together they fight to find the truth while resisting their attraction to one another. Ultimately the truth is revealed and love wins out. What makes Julie’s stories so good is that although they are set in medieval times her characters are believable and you become immersed in their lives. Her females characters are always strong, independent women who may want love but lose nothing of themselves in the process, which is so true of us Scots. I love her use of language and attention to detail. I cannot recommend her series enough. Even if this is your first read you will enjoy it and want to go back and read them all.

Be still my heart. Oh yes, needless to say, Julie Johstone has outdone herself again! She is a master at at creating a tale with an enthralling, fast paced storyline that will not let you go until you turn the last page. Even then I wanted to go back and read a few parts!
Thought a bastard, Broch had fought his whole life to prove himself. He is sent by King David to find the fiesty Katheine, who is know as the Hellion of the Highlands (yep and she is that!). He is to make sure she marries Brodee Blackswell which will help join their clans. But what he finds is something he cannot tolerate and finds out some truths about the Blackswell clan.
He ends up being wed to her himself and the action begins!! Humorous at times with a mystery, murder and some wonderful moments between the two. The characters come alive with some amazing secondary characters that hopefully will appear in future stories plus a cat names Sheba!! What more can you ask for? I highly recommend this latest installment in the Highlander Vows series. Although it can be read as a standalone, I urge you to read the entire series!

Once in awhile you come across a story that has romance, mystery and intrigue all rolled into a story that you fine you are unable to put down.

Julie Johnstone has achieved in doing that with her latest book.

Brock McLeod is our hero sent by Kind David to try and bring peace to Clan Kinntock and Clan Blackwell.

This mission changes Brock’s life forever a lone man trying to fit into a family after being known as a bastard all his life

Until he meets the hellion, Katreine Kinntock, who has some nice surprises for Brock, some will have you smiling to yourself.

The story is so compelling I found I was not sitting on the couch by on the edge trying to read a quick as I could, truly engrossed
I was actually cheering for the secondary characters as well

Fast pace, compelling read

Will Brock find his family his happy ever after, can I suggest you read this great book for all the story.

A pleasure to read this book.

Will Brodee and William get HEA

The story starts when Broch a legendary highland warrior, is given a mission by King David to find Katreine and have her wed the eldest song of Clan Blackswell. Katreine, on the other hand, has no intention of forsaking her beloved father and doting brothers for a husband, especially a hated Blackswell. I loved both Katreine and Broch they fit so well together and I adored their mutual respect for each other along with the romance. The pace of the book was perfect and the twist in the plot at the end wrapped up the story perfectly and it hooked me from the very first page. The talent of Julie Johnstone shines through each word and I recommend reading When a Highlander Weds a Hellion! Enjoy!

My Thoughts:
I really was entranced with Broch and Katreine's story. It pulled me right in and never let go leaving me wanting for more! As usual with this author's work you will find a bit of danger, treachery and love.

When Katreine is forced to wed Broch she never intends to give in to his charms but instead to make him dislike her so much that he'll send her back home.

Can this pair end up trusting each other enough to choose love over revenge?

Julie Johnstone books always entertain me and I am always looking forward to the next read.

I gave this book 4.8 of 5.0 stars for story line, plot and character development.

I received a complimentary ARC of this book to read. This in no way affected my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.

I was super excited to read Broch and Katreine’s story. I absolutely loved their story! It took twists and turns that I never would have imagined. Katreine is a kick butt lady who is full of spunk. I love how she stand up to Broch, even though he’s a tough warrior who isn’t used to being challenged. A fabulous story, full of adventure and intrigue.

Broch McLeod, the King’s Right Hand, has been tasked to find Katreine Kinntoch and see that she is married to Lord Blackswell’s heir, Brodee. The Kinntochs and the Blackswells are sworn enemies. There is a land dispute between them, but the more important reason for the feud is that Katreine and her family believe Brodee murdered her older sister who was his betrothed. No sooner has Broch found her and rescued her from a band of thugs sent by the Blackswell to find her, he found out that the nickname Hellion of the Highlands was deserved. Getting her back home included chasing her through rough water, battling a pack of wolves, and spending a night in a cold cave – not exactly the way or place to begin to fall in love. When Broch goes to the Blackswells, he does not find answers to the raiding on Kinntoch lands or the murders, but he learns who he really is. He returns to tell the Kinntochs Katreine must marry the Blackswell heir, but she won’t be marrying Brodee. Who is the Heir (any guesses)? Who is Broch? Who murdered Brodee’s betrothed and his mistress? Is there an HEA in here somewhere?

This is such an exciting story, a fast-paced unpredictable Highland Adventure. There’s danger, murder, suspense, and a good dose of humor. Broch is a warrior through and through, tough, brave, protective, and loyal. He has a tender side, too, but he doesn’t show that to everyone. Feisty is not a strong enough word to describe Katreine. She is petite and beautiful, and fierce, courageous, determined, and loyal. She rarely shows her tender side to anyone. The interaction between these two is humorous, entertaining, and poignant. William was hilarious, kind of like a sidekick to a super hero. Julie has another winner with this one. The latest story in the Highlander Vows: Entangled Hearts Series is not to be missed. I think it might be my favorite in the series.

Wow! Really, really good. I couldn’t put it down. Intrigue is rife in this story only eclipsed by the passion that this couple experiences from their meeting. The author does a great job depicting the longing to belong that Broch feels and the loyalty Katreine has for her family. I love that Broch is so wise and sees through every one of Katreine’s ploys. It’s inevitable that the passion they share brings them together.

This is book number eight in the series. 5 Stars! This book is my favorite in the series. But they are all so wonderful stories. I love the characters and the story-line. Enemies to lovers is always a fun adventure. The writing is great. This author is a wonderful storyteller. Highly recommend. Can also be read as a stand alone but the other books are great also.
