When St. Patrick’s Day brings bad luck… “Marry me.” I thought I was dreaming when I heard Derek say the words to me. I’ve had a crush on my brother’s best friend forever, but I never thought he’d look twice at me. Even though I was almost done college now, I was still just Jason’s poor little sister. While he was born with a silver spoon, and the matching Ferrari. But now he wants to marry me? I mean, use me. At least he was honest, and told me straight up that he needs a wife in order to collect his trust fund. Talk about an astronomical hit to my ego. Derek could have any woman though – so why me?
Derek Can she survive my dragon? She’s going to drive me crazy. Her beautiful smile, her witty humor… her never-ending, drop-dead gorgeous body. My proposal was the perfect solution – at the time. I need my trust fund to finance my tech research, and she needs…well, me. She doesn’t know it yet, but I’ll prove it to her. That is, if she can accept my fire-breathing, possessive nature. And if my clan doesn’t kill her first. I’ll trade my trust fund for her protection any day. But will she still have me after she finds out what kind of monster I become? And who the hell could have guessed that her secret would be even bigger than mine?

Getting unlucky is what this book should be called!
If your unlucky enough like me to have chosen to read this book you'll get the title ! Oh how I wanted to like this book! Dragons ✔ St Patrick's day references ✔ well that's about all this book has going for it. Bad characters ✔ poor storyline ✔✔ at times I felt lost or uncertain about the story. It did not have a well written flow! Free with KU and that's the only lucky thing about this book! Zero stars of optional!
This is a quick little read that starts out with a spoiled little boy who turns into a responsible man, and it’s all because of a woman, as all great romances start. I wasn’t too sure about the characters in the beginning, but they grew on me and by the end I was so excited for them to get their HEA. The author kept the story moving with twists and turns that I never saw coming. This book is the perfect poolside distraction, and I am looking forward to reading more by this author
For a book that was four 🌶️ in my Smutty Sunday newsletter, I was pretty disappointment in the smut category. Normally, I am a “we ain’t here for the plot we here for the *insert smut vibes here*” but this book didn’t even deliver on that front so it’s hard to give it much credit.
The book description was also way better than the actual book turned out to be. It was so short and the author just didn’t pace the story well for how short it was.
A bunch of characters in this book also really grinded my gears too. There is a cringey “stereotypical gay bestie” roommate character and I hated it. Holy fuck did I get frustrated with the MMC and all the misogyny that was there. It wasn’t overt “you are a woman and don’t know anything” misogyny, but the “well I didn’t mean my shitty comment like that and you’re at fault for taking it so poorly even though what I said made your conclusions natural and never apologize” gaslighting misogyny. They also villainized the mom and then throw in a child loss dollop at the end out of fucking nowhere for why she’s the way she is? Yeah. No. The smut was not even good. It’s a no from me dawg.
This is about her elder brother's best friend who is a complete arsehole, playing the field, all the while laughing at her longtime crush on him. Until he isn't. He needs her to play the good little fake wife. He really doesn't deserve her. Until he finally does. He comes to his senses just in time, realises what has been right in front of him all along, and turns into someone worthy of her love. He just doesn't realise how much his life will change, and how much their connection will change her. The characters are great, the world-building good, and I read it all in one sitting. The story sounds straightforward on the face of it but it really isn't. There are surprises and twists that make it fun and interesting. Just read it for yourself and enjoy!
This is a different viewpoint and twist on dragons. Even though it was a short story I liked it. Derek seemed like a rude, entitled jerk until at least halfway through the book. I didn't like him much until I understood a little bit more of his childhood and saw the real person in hiding. Jenna was always a strong character. And I liked her brother Jason too. This book ends in a happy ever after. I would love to see Jason getting a book too. Possible Spoiler Alert- I would also have liked a little more information on the prophecy and to find out what powers the magenta dragons have.
Getting Lucky: A Fake Fiancé Dragon Shifter Romance had such a fun, promising concept. I loved the fake fiancé trope mixed with dragon shifters—it was cute, easy to read, and had some really enjoyable moments. That said, I couldn’t help but feel like this story should’ve been more. The world, the characters, and the romance all had so much potential, but the novella length made everything feel a bit rushed. I wanted more depth, more buildup, and more time with these characters. Overall, a quick and enjoyable read, but one that left me wishing it had been a full-length story.
This has nothing to do with St Patrick's Day 🍀. This showed up on my "smutty Sunday" email distribution and it sounded ridiculous enough i checked it out.
This is a really silly novella, there were a lot of errors and most of the time it didn't make a ton of sense. And it was not smutty, whoever added those chili peppers in the email blast should get fired 🤣
Great brain cleanser though after a way more serious book.
Great short read! I was hooked from the start! Derek was definitely a bit annoying and he definitely did not deserve Jenna from the get-go, but he did redeem himself and I was happy that it all worked out for them in the end.. The characters are great and the story is really interesting. Could have been slightly better, but no complaints. I enjoyed reading it!
I thoroughly enjoyed this short, fast paced read Jenna was a love from the beginning and Derek was a little full of himself and didn't explain himself very well It isn't until later that we learn what he really felt before Throw in his over protective mother, some threats and some surprises and you end up with an extremely entertaining book that holds your attention from beginning to end.
A wonderfully well written paranormal book by Jacey Ward! A Must Read, HEA! This new world leaves the door open for more stories, I can't wait to see who fall in love next. Not a long book, I read it in a few hours (in between making dinner). Hot and steamy, but not over done. St. Patty's green and gold was never so bright or sparkly or HOT. No cliffhangers.
I have just finished reading this story and I found it hard to put it down until I finished it. I love dragons and this one was a good read .you fond that it's your best friend sister that gives you the love of a life time.you need to go and get this book anyone that loves dragons. I would like to wish you all the best for your future stories.
I completely enjoyed reading this fast and furious, new take on dragons! The characters are developed perfectly, with just enough background to make sense when reading! Loved it!
I was expecting a sweet and spicy little shifter novella and only got 2/3. There were dragons. The MMC was not sweet, he was an arrogant dickhead, and the spice was as bland as ketchup. I’ll end on a positive: There were dragons.
I have read a lot of different shifter books & I feel this is the BEST by far. I definitely recommend this book. Lacy sure knows how to write a good story.
Interesting. I enjoyed reading it. It was a good book. I usually don't read shifter type books so I was surprised that I enjoyed it as much as I did. I will keep an open mind.
This was my first Dragon shifter and I absolutely loved it. It grabs you from the beginning and I couldn’t put it down. This was a quick read that was well written story.
I enjoyed reading this story and all its magical moments. It's my first dragon shifter romance and my first Jacey Ward story but I can't wait to read more.
I like the story, but it lacks depth. It’s a quick, easy read with a twist or two. The concept has potential, but the characters and story fall short. I still enjoyed reading it, and you may, too.
The story wasn't too bad for such a short story. I wish it had more to the story. It could be really great. Has a few love scenes and a crazy older brother. Not a bad story.
Oh man… this was so bad 😂 to be fair, it was a very short book but there was no plot building. I wouldn’t event call this a ‘fake-fiancé/ fake engagement’ considering it lasted all of a day?
