To protect his boy…

Brisbane is no stranger to hardship. At nineteen, he feels lucky to have a job and a roof over his head—at the same time. All his life he’s had to look out for himself. He’s never had anyone to guide and protect him until Malcolm.

Malcolm is an alpha tiger shifter dedicated to protecting the unique shifter community of Morningwood. He’s been tracking an elusive shifter hitman for months. But the slippery target travels freely in the normie world—no one ever suspects the golden retriever of brutal murder.

…there’s no threat he won’t face.

When the dog is taken in by the unknowing Brisbane, Malcolm has a choice to make. Determined not to let anything get in the way of his mission, Malcolm tries to ignore Brisbane’s jaded innocence and handsome smiles. But it’s clear the young man needs help even though as a normie, he’s off limits.

When danger arises, Malcolm whisks Brisbane away to safety, but when the hitman begins to sniff closer to home, Malcolm will have to decide what’s more important—his mission or the man he loves.

Sweet Meat is the third book in the Welcome to Morningwood Omegaverse Romance series. It can be read as a standalone.

Finally gotten around to reading the other Amari brother’s story. 😁 And was able to catch up with my favorite characters from the other books in the series. Delightful and interesting. This series definitely kept pulling me in for more books. Brisbane is a sweetheart. ❤️ I really enjoyed this one a lot.

I think this is my new favorite book from this series... and the reason for that is simply Brisbane. He is without a doubt the most awesome character in this book. I love Malcom and how he is so protective and loving towards Bris, but when it comes to truly incredible courage and yeah a good dose of stubbornness it's all Bris. I loved being back in Morningwood, visiting with old friends again. Love this series a lot. This book had everything, it was at times sweet and adorable, at others scorching hot and yeah enough suspense and scary stuff of give me an adrenaline rush or two! Loved it!

Oh, I liked this one a lot more than the last one. Daddy kink 😍

I loved both mc's a lot. Brisbane was sweet and deserved a daddy to take care of him. I was glad Malcolm had zero issues with Brisbane being a "normie". The drama wasn't OTT either like the last one.

The jealous side of me could have done without Brisbane ending up working for Remy, Malcolm's previous boy, but whatever. I still enjoyed it and it helped that they are actually mates so it was all better with Brisbane. That's just my picky self.

I'm really enjoying this series! It's fun of all sorts of my favorite tropes - this one has an age gap, daddy kink, first times, and plenty of love, humor, and action.

Malcolm (who is Maddox's older brother from the previous book) is trying to track down a crazed hitman when he stumbles across Brisbane, a human "normie"who knows nothing about shifters. When Brisbane sees too much, Malcolm decides to bring him back with him to Morningwood (nope, I still chuckle at that name) for protection, despite knowing the risks in bringing a human back to his hometown.

These two were very sweet, sexy, and perfect for each other. Malcolm was a great daddy for Brisbane, he wanted to provide and care for him with all aspects of daily life, and once Brisbane was able to open up to him and let go of those fears that this thing between them had an expiration date, he was really open to a relationship with him.

Loved getting to see Maddox and Wes back, and there was plenty of action in this one, too. Still hope Dusty will get a story, too!

I really enjoy this series and look forward to the next book!

I received an arc in exchange for an honest review.

This is the best one in the series. (but then I would be prejudiced that this is not a teacher and student relationship).

I think this is my favorite one of this series so far. The funny thing is I've been waiting for Dusty’s story, which I think is next. But this one just came out of nowhere and gutted me. I absolutely love Brisbane. My only complaint (and I don't want to give anything away here) but a golden?? Lol. They're supposed to be sweet babies. Ah well. Just makes it more fun.
Life for Brisbane just seems to suck. His own parents didn't want him and the one person who do, his grandmother, died. He doesn't really have many friends. If any, really. It kind of hard to trust people really when you alternate between living on the streets, in shelters and on someone's couch if you can. His job sucks, his apartment crappy, but at least it's something. Or was, until a dog, of all things, ruined everything for him. When he tries to befriend a seemingly lost dog, the dog brings with it a man, who seems to be cruel. But it turns out the dog is a killer who leaves no witnesses, and the man, Malcolm, is trying to save his life. But Malcolm isn't normal either, as Brisbane finds out, and they are now in hiding, well he is, for his life. What he didn't expect was the relationship he would have with Malcolm, and how it would finally feel like home. But surprises and danger are lurking in every corner and it's a race against time to survive.
Brisbane is one of those little guys that just brings out every protective instinct in you. He's snarky, but a lot of it is really a bravado to help mask what's really going on. He's terrified, a bit insecure, and totally out of his element. He doesn't ask for much out of life. He just wants a little love, if possible, and for things maybe, finally, to go right. Being an obsession of a killer is not what he had in mind. Being something to Malcolm is, though. The more he learns about the shifter community, you can feel the yearning to belong. Even more so, when he discovers male shifters can get pregnant. And it breaks my heart for him to see he wants something so much, and can't have it.
For Malcolm, he never expected to find another 'boy’. In his line of work, relationships are tricky. He's never home, so it's hard to care for someone. But Brisbane called to him and his tiger, and for him, that was it. He didn't care that Brisbane was a 'normie’. He just saw a man he wanted to protect and love. Someone he would give everything for. Which made him perfect for Brisbane. They're actually quite perfect for each other. They bring out things in each other, that they both need. Things to finally feel like they belong. That they are home. And for both of them, that's huge.
I still want to see Dusty's story, but this one was my heart. I adored it. Something about Brisbane. And the more you read of him, the better it gets.

I’m a bit conflicted about this one. There were certain things I liked, but I can’t really say it was a great book.

Things I liked:
- There was daddy kink. I like daddy kink..
- I loved the name of the town, Morningwood. :D
- I loved the hurt/comfort parts.

What I liked less:
- I didn’t like that Malcolm kept Brisbane a secret. I got why, but it was obvious this wasn’t going to fly in the long run. Their secret would come out, and I wanted Malcolm to come up with a solution, and not just let it go on like that.
- The writing was not that great at times. Like how Brisbane suddenly knew all the names of the people walking into the house while they were Malcom’s colleagues and friends and Brisbane had never met them. I guess I missed the part where it was explained that Brisbane was clairvoyant. Total fail on the author’s part.
- The whole thing with villain was a bit strange. Golden Bone, really? That’s the name they came up with for him? I wasn’t sure how I felt about him. He wasn’t scary, that’s for sure.

So overall this was a nice story, but I can’t say it really impressed me.

Such an interesting hitman concept. No one would have suspected a cute dog of being a vicious killer. The plot unfolded naturally and flowed beautifully. The couple was adorable and I loved how they grew closer together. They were really sweet and charming. Brisbane was the perfect amount of bratty and independent without being annoying and Maddox was so sexy and protective. I could have read another 200 pages of this couple.

Malcolm, Maddox brother is one of the main characters of the third Morningwood series book. He is a member of the Elite Force who protects Morningwood from Normies and Normies from dangerous shifters. Another thing the reader learns is that Malcolm has a serious Daddy kink. He is not in search of a boy, but is very surprised when he finds one - who turns out to be a Normie! With all the danger and the Human's lack of knowledge about shifters - there is so much for him to learn about them, in addition to his own emerging kinks similar to his shifter mate who is quite a bit older then he is. Everything initially takes place in only a 24-hour period which is overwhelming.

Suddenly Malcolm's younger brother Maddox (and his mate Wesley) are great with his new "secret" mate, friendly, full of sarcasm and puns. These two welcome the Normie, put him at ease, and shock him continuously. I thoroughly enjoyed these aspects of the book, but something I learned during the course of reading this book is that I really don't care for Daddy kink stories. Some are more extreme then others. I mistook this for another May December romance, though I soon learned I was very mistaken.

Since I began reading this Morningwood series (I'll be beginning number Five shortly as soon as I finish writing up my review to number Four: Pot of Gold) I never looked to see what was coming in the next book. So I am completely surprised by each new storyline and sometimes not pleasantly so. But if you enjoy books involving shifters and Daddy kinks, this one should be right up your alley.

Something else to be aware of is that there is a great deal of violence in this book on page and left to the imagination. There is a very clever killer being hunted, or is it frighteningly the other way around?

4 stars. I'm reading this series all out of order (for what reason? I don't know) but it's fine because they are still so wonderful. Kiki is one of my favorites for a reason. Her books always have a lot of heart and emotions and just the right amount of steam and amazing smut.

I loved, loved, loved the characters so much. Malcolm and Brisbane were perfect for each other and I loved their dynamics and the way their relationship was. They brought out the best in each other and they both go through some pretty great character development. I know that the side characters (i.e. his brother, Maddox and his mate, Wesley) have a book of their own that I should've read before this one but whatever, I'm excited to get to it because I really liked them and am curious to get to know them more.

Overall, this is such a fun and refreshing series and I'm enjoying it immensely.

Definitely sweet

This third book is a bit different as we start in the normie world with busboy Brisbane who is dragged kicking but not screaming to Morningwood, when he is not quite assaulted by a hit man who is a dog. Malcolm has been tracking the hit man for months, when he rescues Brisbane, he decides to stash him at his house.
This is a sweet story which a tiger Daddy, so there is a bit of kink, use of toys and some light punishment. I enjoyed Brisbane's brattyness, and how with a look he can wrap Alpha tiger Malcolm around his fingers. Wesley and Maddox make great secondary characters, and show how much their love has grown. I am enjoying reading this series and can't wait to read the sheriff's book next.

I wasn't super fond of book 2 in the series so it took me awhile to pick up book3. This one, at least IMO, is better than book 2. I think, in great part, due to the fact there seems to be lots of action and a more intriguing story. Malcolm, a tiger shifter, is part of the Elite Force, tasked with tracking down a dangerous shifter hitman in the "normie" world. While doing so, he encounters Brisbane, a sweet young normie man, down on his luck and in the wrong place at the wrong time. The story revolves around Malcom trying to protect Brisbane from the shifter hitman, who Malcolm thinks will try to kill Brisbane to tie up loose ends. Of course, along the way Brisbane and Malcolm develop all the feels along the way. As always and HEA is guaranteed.

The best so far!!!!

The instant attraction between Malcolm and Brisbane cuts until the daddy\boy dynamic is introduced. Then it's just HOT!! I love a possessive alpha with a kink. Malcolm is in control and possessive and gives Brisbane just what he needs. Brisbane is young, inexperienced and in need of a daddy. A crazy guy decides Brisbane is going to be his and no one will stand in way. Of course Malcolm has to keep his boy safe and big has to show appreciation. Definitely want to hear when it comes out on Audible.

Not my thing

Whilst the story was good enough, the power roles is not something I enjoy, so I skipped over a lot. The first two books had a little bit of this uneven power dynamic, which I found a little uncomfortable but could ignore.

This book had a lot of action in it and a good plot but the 'relationship' ruined it for me. If you like that stuff this book is fine therefore I didn't give it 2 stars.

It is a shame, I like this genre and a hidden shifter town/ omegaverse with this plot line is my kind of book usually.

Delightfully different.

I absolutely LOVED this fantastic, charming, engaging, poignant, lovely, adorable, sexy, delightfully different, and unexpected twist on the standard, stale, staid, and same old paranormal trope. The identity of the human was hilarious as hell! I recommend one clicking this marvelous gem ASAP.

Malcom’s turn with a twist

Malcom means more Maddox being snarky in the background, and I loved it. I was so happy to see him back, with Wesley. This book was different because it was fraught with danger for Brisbane, and I loved the little domestic discipline weaved in.

I still can’t wait for Dusty’s story!

Lots of fun

I loved the mystery with Golden Bone and his obsession with Brisbane. Malcolm's insistence that he needed to break all of the rules that he had spent a lifetime upholding, in order to protect Brisbane, was an interesting twist in the story.

Normie or not ?

This book started out cute and sweet when a human gives aide to a shifter golden retriever . Problem is that this shifter is a hit man for hire . But Malcolm comes to his rescue and that's when the story gets interesting .
