I am so glad I picked up this book from an airport on one of my journeys. Although the title didn’t catch me, something about the first page did. And now I am so happy to have read this.
This book made me laugh, get emotional, and think a lot. The author could not have done a better job in making people think about critical things like religion, life itself, meaning of life. As you read along, I started questioning why have I never questioned things the way Mariya did because her thoughts seem completely rational. However the world we are in has categorized normality and abnormality into black and white and there is no grey space in between, whatsoever. The book made me think deeply about all this. The conversations Mariya had with God was especially thought provoking, in some sense it is a belief system through which everyone goes through. Later some choose to stay as believers, some choose not to.
The style of writing is also very catchy. The author gives everyone a first person approach which makes their stories told from each one’s perspective. In life isn’t that what we all ask for, to be able to tell our own stories!
I feel like I would have missed out on something major had I not read this.
