Our weakest moments in life often come when faced with adversity. The ability to cope with difficult situations can define who we are and how we go forward in life’s journey. We can all learn from Jose Esparza. Born sight impaired, Jose was guided and inspired early in life by a teacher who took the time to show him how to channel his triumphs and misfortunes into poetic artistry. Take a Poetic Journey through life, love, grief and victory.
The author is an acquaintance of mine. I enjoyed reading his poems. A lot of the poems reflected on his love, loss and moving forward after the passing of his partner. These peoms hit me most, almost to tears at times. Other poems included were nods to Disney, San Francisco, Coffey Park (where a big localized fire occurred a year and a half ago) and a motorcycle advanture.
A couple of minor criticisms: As indicated in the forward, the author has a visual impairment. With this in mind, I wished the poems were in a more readable font and larger print. I did note a couple of proofreading errors (possible missed words) and in at least one poem, it was not centered on the page. In a few poems the last line was aligned left, instead of centered. Things to clean up in future editions.
Overall I enjoyed the collection as a nice tribute to the passing of the authors partner.
