An incredible fanfic that hits a lot of famous tropes in a very adult way. It puts checkmarks on sick!fic, kid!fic, slow burn, friends with benefits, pining, oblivious idiots in love and come with some incredible TEMPORARY character death (it's a comic book fandom, what else is new).
FabulaRasa is pretty much THE authority on DCU fic in my book. I have sampled other authors in the fandom but I come back to her because the quality of the writing, characterization and sheer willingness to not pull any punches is on another level with her.
If you only ever read one DCU fic make it one of hers.
This particular story is personal for her and it show. It deals with chronic illness and treats the character suffering from it in the most human way possible. The reader never once has to feel pity or feel emotionally manipulated. The story is ALSO incredibly funny. Come for Bruce Wayne parenting a bunch of ninja with his partner in crime Alfred. Stay for Hal Jordan and Bruce Wayne having a love story for the ages.
This fic has it all and needs six stars actually.
