If you enjoyed the thrilling action of Star Wars and the suspense of Invasion of the Body Snatchers, you'll love this epic adventure.
Recruit is pretty much a remake of any number of stories. Startrek did an episode of beings from another galaxy taking over high ranking starfleet officers, Robert HeinLein had the puppet masters, TV had the invasion of the body snatchers, and countless others. The story was getting really good, until this little invading alien menace was revealed. That killed the story for me. I mean, I'm glad the story turned out the way it did, but still, something like this is hardly original, and to be honest, I really don't think it was necessary for the story. The author could have come up with some other mechanism to explain the behavior that got them where it was in the story. I'm not the least bit interested in continuing with this series. For what it's worth though, I liked the story up to that point, so there is that.
A good start for this space opera storyline, but one that would have been mch better had the author utilized a decent editor. The narrative suffers from missing words, misused homonyms and incorrect grammar. I realize this is par for the course these days, but it still rankles when found.
Character and plot development is acceptable, with several plot twists though these are perhaps less hidden than intended. This first installment ends on a positive note, hinting at more but not requiring the reader to follow.
I loved this book and the characters stayed up till 2:00 AM to finish it! Tried the use the like to get the second book but it didn’t work I hope I can get it from Amazon.
Recruit is one of those books that keeps the readers attention till the end. Then wanting to read the next in line as soon as possible or sooner. I gave it 5 stars but it was a 6 star read.
I've seldom enjoyed a novel as much as I have this. Fast-paced, and we'll plotted. The characters are well described, and they are as good as any I've read.
