Magazine editor Gemma Carmichael has been secretly in love with her co-worker Blade for 5 years and when he suddenly breaks off his engagement, Gemma decides this is her chance to woo her man. He signs up for a matchmaking getaway and she decides to do it too, positive they're a match. But to her surprise, she's matched with Sawyer Bennett, a brooding romance author who only came on the island to write and who doesn't even believe in love. (Obviously the Sterling sisters have no idea what they're doing!)

Romance author, Sawyer Bennett, did not sign up for this. He thought his travel agent cousin was sending him on a nice, normal vacation in the Bahamas, not to bad reality TV recreation. The only romance he's interested in is the one between his characters. After all, family history has shown him that true love is just fiction, which is why he's so good at writing it. But now, he's stuck in a romance book situation, with contracts that can't be broken and matched to the pretty but kooky redhead, Gemma. (Obviously, the Sterling sisters have no idea what they're doing!)

However, the magazine Gemma works for would provide great publicity for his next release, so he agrees to help her win her true love in exchange for her putting his book on the reviewer's upcoming list. Seems like an easy enough way to pass the week. Sawyer still doubts the existence of true love but by the end of the week, he can’t help but wonder if he could finally have found the write woman for him after all.

Did someone say "Bahamas?!" I'm in love with the idea of this new series, especially with the romantic setting, and can't wait to read all of these stories of this matchmaking week.

Gemma has been "stalking" her co-worker, Blade, and just knows they're a match made in heaven so when the Sterling sisters match her with grumpy romance author, Sawyer, she's just a little put out.

I adored the plan that is hatched between Gemma and Sawyer. So many laughs were had as this duo worked hard to get what they both wanted. These characters are quirky and fun, which made for a very entertaining read. And do you know what? I'm kind of dying to read one of Sawyer's romance books--why isn't he real?!

I love the way Shirk weaves a wonderful tangled story of realizations, humor, and romance, and just the right dose of reality--I could have read about these characters for 100 more pages.

Did someone say love in the Bahamas? Um, yes. I'll read that. Especially if it's by one of my favorites, Jennifer Shirk. She really knows how to put together a story that plays out like a perfect movie in my head. This whole story was fun, full of smiles and giggle moments. I love that kind of escape. My only wish is that this book would have been longer. I would have loved another 50 or so pages. This story went by way too fast!

Of course, as a reader and reviewer, I loved that Gemma was a writer for a magazine and Sawyer was a romance author. Sawyer wants Emma to get his book reviewed in her magazine so in exchange he agrees to help Gemma win the love and attention of her crush. Everything gets tangled up quickly as Gemma and Sawyer both go all in for what they want. The whole journey was fun and the ending is sweet. This book gave me a bit of happiness which is always what I'm looking for.

I really enjoyed the premise, a matchmaking island retreat. The H/h were both likable and shows that opposites do attract! I thought it was a quick, fun escape.

Of course, only a twisted mind like mine would create a character who writes romance but doesn't believe in love. That's Sawyer. And I give this book 5 stars for just him alone.
But I think you'll love this little novella just as much. :-)

An entertaining escape-from-reality with plenty of laugh-out loud moments!

Take a quick, fun, romantic vacation to a tropical beach resort with Jennifer Shirk’s A Match for Mr. Write. It’s one of ten works in the Resort to Romance collection by ten different authors all linked by one matchmaking week. This entry focuses on the story of magazine editor Gemma Carmichael and romance author Sawyer Bennett.

Gemma has her sights set on her co-worker, Blade. When she discovers that he’s no longer in a relationship and planning a vacation to the Bahamas, she sees her opportunity to show him that they’re a match made in heaven. Without Blade’s knowledge, Gemma makes reservations to coincide with his. But, when she checks in, she finds that it’s matchmaking week at the resort and both she and Blade have been matched to others.

Sawyer believes he’s on a regular vacation to the resort only to find on check-in that it’s match-making week and that he has unknowingly agreed to cooperate by spending time with his match, Gemma, every day. When he happily discovers Gemma isn’t interested in him either, he concocts a plan to help Gemma snag Blade.

The premise is darling and the characters are quirky. At first, I liked Sawyer more than Gemma, but as I kept reading, Gemma began to grow on me. The irony of Sawyer is that he writes romantic novels while professing to be anti-love. While I still need a bit more convincing that Gemma and Sawyer belong together, they made progress towards doing just that herein.

He looked over her head and frowned. “Hold on just a second.”

“What?”

“You need to kiss me goodbye.”

From what he could observe so far, Blade seemed to be just her type. Sawyer couldn’t stand the guy.

A Match for Mr. Write is an entertaining read with plenty of laugh-out-loud moments. If you are seeking a light read to curl up with for a few hours to escape from reality, this tale fits the bill!

Gemma has had a HUGE crush on coworker, Blade for five years. Blade considers Gemma a friend, but nothing else. When she sees that he has signed up for a match making trip to the Bahamas, she’s all in. After all, they’re the perfect match! When she arrives, checks in, and then attends the first mixer she’s shocked to find out she’s not “matched” with Blade. Gemma finds she’s matched with the grumpy guy she ran into earlier.

Sawyer Bennett, best selling romance author, arrives to the Bahamas for a relaxing writing vacation. Little does he know his cousin has set him up on a match making vacation! Unhappy, but trying to abide by the contract, Sawyer attends the first mixer. Sawyer is surprised to be “matched” with the cute red head he ran into earlier. Once he learns she can get him a review for his new novel, he strikes a deal. He’ll help her win Blade over in exchange for a review. And it begins....

This was a quick, easy, entertaining read. Gemma and Sawyer were so perfect together, they just couldn’t see it! I enjoyed their friendship and their banter. I loved how protective Sawyer was of Gemma as well. They didn’t know what they had until it was too late! Gemma is willing to put it all on the line for Sawyer, but his past has him running scared. I read a gifted copy and all opinions stated are my own.

When Gemma finds out the co-worker that she has been crushing on is suddenly single she decides a coincidental meeting at the resort where he is vacationing is the perfect opportunity to get him to see her as more than friends.

Sawyer is a romance author who believes in love for others but not for him. What he thought was supposed to be a vacation to finish his novel is actually a week where he is matched with another guest. Gemma and Sawyer are matched but not interested in each other so they hatch a plan to both get what they want and that is when the fun really begin!

Fun and flirty I enjoyed this story. Gemma and Sawyer are so busy trying to accomplish their goal that they don’t see what is happening before their eyes and the people who matched them just might know what they were doing after all.

What a funny, romantic comedy that will have you laughing over the antics Gemma does to get Blade's attention. Spending a week on Joy Island in the Bahamas should be fun, except it is not exactly a vacation. It is actually a matchmaking week with a 99.9% success rate.
The characters are fun, quirky, and hilarious at times too. I liked Gemma , who planned this trip because her office crush was going to Joy Island and she believed he was her perfect match. Instead she is matched with Sawyer Bennett, a romance author, who does not believe in love. He only writes about it. They make a deal so Gemma can get Blade and Gemma will help Sawyer in return. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.

This is the first book I’ve read by this author, but it won’t be the last. The premise of the story is that Gemma has loved her co-worker, Blade, for five years and after his break-up with his fiancée she sees her chance to get closer to him. While pretending to be attracted to Sawyer, she gets the chance to spend some time with Blade. Take two people – one who believes in love and romance and a romance writer who writes about love but doesn’t believe in it and you have a recipe for a shake-up. This is a cute, easy-to-read story and I enjoyed it very much.

This is a fun, laugh out loud book. I adore the heroine. She is funny, quirky and sweet. The 'hero' is very anti-love. The irony is that he's a romance writer. He does grow on you a lot and I do end up liking him. It's a short and quick read and a terrific way to spend an afternoon.

Sawyer and Gemma both went to a resort with high expectations. Gemma was hoping to get a coworker to fall in love with her and Sawyer just wanted to peacefully write his book by the beach. However the resort was running a matchmaking week of adventure and romance where they get a say in what you do and who you do it with. Now paired together as a match, Sawyer and Gemma have some ridiculous experiences while trying abide by the resort rules.
The story was very funny in parts, like laugh out loud ‘oh my goodness she didn’t just do that!’ So I was entertained and it really kept my interest. Sawyer was a really nice guy, very thoughtful. Gemma seemed more than a little obsessed over her long lasting coworker crush. And it made her seem kind of shallow but she slowly comes to her senses as does the commitment phobe Sawyer.

I laughed out loud throughout the entire book. It was so fun to read! Gemma is a very quirky, eccentric character and her goofy ways had me giggling throughout. Sawyer and Blade were interesting characters too, although I didn’t think either were a good match for her.

-‘She raised up on her tip-toes and pecked him lightly on the cheek. Whew. That wasn't so bad. Quick and painless. No reaction. No sense of attraction whatsoever. Like kissing her uncle. Almost. Except Uncle Henry had always smelled like tobacco and Sawyer, on the other hand, smelled of a unique combination of fresh soap, tropical sea air, and hot author. She needed to get out of there.’-

This is a really quick read and a great way to escape reality for a little while. This is definitely another winner from this author in my opinion. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and I highly recommend it.

Another fun book by this author with characters that felt like real people, with real quirks and faults, and with qualities that made me care for them. I laughed out loud too many times to count while reading this book and loved the swoony romance inside as well as the internal conflicts Gemma and Sawyer both battled. I only wish this book was longer, and that Gemma's realization about Blade had been shown to me instead of just an internal thought telling. I can't wait until the next book in this new series is published. The beach resort setting is my happy place and I enjoyed my ocean getaway while reading this novel.

A cute, light novella set at a Bahamas resort that does matchmaking.

Gemma decides to vacation at the resort after she finds out her office crush will be there. Sawyer thinks he's going on a regular beach vacation, but his cousin has set him up hoping he might meet someone.

Both characters are likeable, but with such a short number of pages to get to know them it didn't feel very deep. I think I would have enjoyed the book more if it had been a little longer or gotten more in depth with the characters connection/falling for each other.

Overall, though, it is a quick read with a fun premise.

I've read and thoroughly enjoyed all of Ms. Shirk's books, and they all earned four or five stars from me. I expected this book to be no different, but it was.

Don't get me wrong. I didn't dislike it, but probably because of its brevity, there simply isn't as much character development or slow simmering build-up as in her longer works. That makes it more difficult to care about the characters or to have much empathy for the stupid, sometimes selfish, things they do. One of Shirk's earlier books ... about a very unlikely, but totally lovable Cupid... was also quite short, but it contained more than enough feel-good humor to up the entertainment factor. This book also has a little bit of humor, but not enough to compensate for the shallowness of the characters. Or maybe I'm just old, and the intended humor didn't hit its mark with me this time around. (Verrrrry possible!)

Bottom line, I will always enjoy this author's style of writing and her ability to spin such sweet HEA romances. No matter what happens in her books, and no matter how predictable the plot may be, I can always count on them to leave me with a nice bouquet of warm fuzzy feelings in my heart and a smile on my face.

Gemma is not quite stalking Blade, the man she thinks is "the one," but she follows him to a resort during a matchmaking week, thinking they'll be spending a lot of time in each other's company. Sawyer just wants alone time and is pissed when he finds out his cousin has booked him into a matchmaking resort and he's paired with a woman who's mooning after another man.

This is a super sweet romance (just kissing) with a dingy heroine and a hunky hero who tolerates her cute mishaps and even tries to help her win her true love...until he realizes he wants her for himself.
