About the Author : The author is a 22-year old perennial dreamer who has been engaged in a perpetual war with words for a better part of his life. Like every 22-year old living in the 21st century, his journey began with a borrowed laptop, a slow internet connection, and a pretty boring life carefully studded with gems of existential crises on Monday mornings.

He started out by writing on the world’s biggest Q&A website called Quora; where other equally bored 22-year olds found a connection with his writings, leading him to amass the trust of over 40000 followers and more than 11-million viewers.

The author is a self-proclaimed specialist at writing fictional crossovers (a genre he proclaims to have invented), where he narrates what would happen if a beloved fictional character from one universe was to meet someone from another. Many of his fictional-crossovers, mostly featuring Sherlock Holmes, have gone viral online, garnering him immense praise and extensive hate equally; which is a perfect balance to maintain for your works on the internet.

When empty inboxes greeted him in response to his proposals to the publishers and literary agents, he decided to self-publish his debut novel on the internet at the age of 21, which became a Bestseller on the twelfth day of its release and spent time in Amazon India’s ‘Top 10 Selling’ and ‘Hot & New Releases’ lists. A year later, the same book is resting comfortably in your hands and being read by the most awesome person in the universe.

The author spends his time experimenting with various writing styles when not running a fiction blog which has pulled readers from over fifty countries. He can be found writing Sherlock Holmes short-stories, fan-fiction, Honest Trailer reviews, first-person observational comedy pieces, and fantastic battle scenes when he gets time from binge-watching TV series. He is a cinephile, loves photography, likes to discuss world news and fashion trends with equal interest, and admires retiring to his solitude with an old dusty book of fiction and a cup of black coffee… with two sugars.

TBH i read it because it was free :P
It was a good read and engaging if not jaw gripping but still engaging.
There were a few typos here and there but overall a good read. It was good for a debut author.
The only thing that I didnt like was the climax. Sorry but no I did not like it that much or maybe I was overexpecting.

Somewhere in the deep valleys of the Himalayas ,devoid of any sunlight and beyond the reach of mankind lies a secret treasure which if discovered can change the present and future of a not an individual but a nation all together. The treasure is guarded by secret society of seven masters, each of who has a book that leads to the next master. The secret had been fiercely guarded and passed on from one generation to the next since the age of Great Emperor Ashoka and was supposed to remain concealed hadn’t the multi-millionaire business tycoon Harish Vashistha shot himself in a press conference. What transpires is a chase that changes many lives, some for good and others for not so good.
Aarav is a treasure hunter. He pursues stories of ancient treasures and often finds that most of them are just a myth. But sometimes his efforts pay off and he finds real tangible treasures hidden in old forts or temples. He, along with Rehann, is always looking out for the next big mystery of hidden treasures. So when Aanya Vashishta comes to him with her father’s last letter to her, he is more than happy. The letter is a coded message leading them to the next clue. In the pursuit of this treasure, they come across the powerful and charismatic Shayna who is one of the masters guarding the ancient secret. What follows is thrilling pursuit filled with life-threatening events and revealing the hidden intentions of each of the characters.
The Secret of the Himalayan Treasure is a debut novel by the young author Divyansh Mundra. For a first time author, Divyansh has done a commendable job in terms of research and command over the language. Treasure hunt in itself is very thrilling and as the protagonist of the book says, it is the journey to the end that matters. The plot revolves around a typical treasure hunt. Although the story is engaging for the most part, I felt it dragging a little towards the end. About 20-25 pages could have easily been shed in the second half to retain the momentum. The twists in the story line were interesting in the beginning but they became overwhelming in the second half and I had to think very hard to link one twist to the last one. As mentioned earlier, the language and choice of words is meticulous but there were a few grammatical errors that could have been taken care in proof-reading. I am sure the author will address this in the next editions. Over all, a good read and the author looks promising.

Scales all expectations.

I have been following the author, Divyansh Mundra, for a while now so I knew what the book was and where it would lead me. However, when I began reading, I wasn't expecting the story's start to intrigue me to the point where I couldn't stop myself from finishing a chapter. Not only that, I wanted to move to the next chapter right then. I'd be lying if I said it didn't keep me up at night.

The plot was interesting. Yep, there were a couple plotholes, but they can be overlooked, because it's the hunt that holds you. Some places were too predictable, the others kept me on the edge. Descriptions of the Indian heritage and history were perfect. Made me smug and proud. I absolutely loved the dialogues, be it Aarav's self-appreciating intelligence, Rehaan's humour, Aanya's confused sweetness, or Shayna's wicked absurdity. I could connect with Aarav the most, somehow it felt like it was Divyansh himself peeking from between the words, and as surreal as it was, it was necessary. The way the story turned deserves merit. It isn't easy connecting dots and making it evident while in disguise.

At a few places though, there's an unavoidable shallowness. When it comes to the love factor of the story, or the emotions and all things real, everything that takes our focus away from the treasure hunt for a moment and makes us realise that feelings too are involved here, lacked a bit of intensity. I failed to be into it and I just thought that could have been worked on more because then, the book would be more than perfect.

In a nutshell, the story definitely made me happy because it's been a while since I read something this admirable and excellent from an Indian author. It certainly breaks all barriers.
Also, the book definitely has the potential to be turned into a series. I am sure it will be an amazing experience to read more on Aarav, Rehaan and Aanya (especially Rehaan and Aanya, as a unit, I mean).
And, not to forget, if Secret of the Himalayan Treasure is ever published in print format, I'm so getting my hands on the copy. Word.

A temperamental treasure Hunter,Aarav, is approached by the heir of a recently murdered billionaire, Shayna Maheshwari. The quest: To uncover a treasure hidden since Emperor Ashoka's times. The treasure trail is in a series of 7 books which are with 7 different people and are passed down since generations. One of them has turned rogue and it is up to Aarav to help uncover the clues and also dodge the traps. It is an exciting book, would highly recommend it as a fast read.

The story and pace of the novel is good for an Indie novel. The premise is well thought out, and characters undergo a wave of turmoil for a novel this short. The main characters are introduced at the right points in the story, with adequate time to reflect on their roles. The imagination of the author is commendable, and the vivid thinking is evident in certain sequences (especially when it involves action and torture). The story can be categorized as a treasure hunt with a love story, where the main characters embark on a treasure hunt with their own purpose in doing so. If you can relate to what the author is trying to picture, you will have a great time plowing through the novel. But, as with any debut novel, there are certain things which could be improved.
The main characters lack depth, description, and even individuality when they speak. The protagonist highly resembles Benedict Cumberbatch from the Sherlock series, and there are feeble attempts to conceal the fact (the story also has Watson, of course). Repetitive use of the same words (eyes are always 'darting', characters are always 'waddling' etc), ill use of phrases, and wrong use of words littered throughout. However, once you get past these shortcomings, as is common to any Indie author without a professional editor, you see that the story has substance, some scenes are worth reading as they immerse you into the action (especially the action sequences are well thought out). The first half of the novel seems to be very light, and the story progresses by leaps and bounds in the second half. Although the author tries to gel the most popular Indian Genres (History, Mythology, Love, Mystery) into one story, it ends up being some of all, and none of each. But, the story has soul, and that's what matters.

Okay, this book was a fast-paced thriller. I do like stories which keep me on edge but the story in this case was moving way too quickly for the reader to absorb everything that was happening. Filler scenes in between the main plot points would have helped the characters to feel more fleshed out. It would have created more space for the reader to connect with these characters which were largely underdeveloped.
Linked to the above point is the lack of description. While different locales were described, there were no individual scenes for all the characters. You are introduced to them, their past etc., through dialogues and not flashbacks of their history or their thoughts in the present. This would have helped the readers understand and have diverse opinions on the characters in a better way. Or perhaps that is just the author's writing style.
The plot mainly revolves around three or four characters who are part of this interesting quest, although it would have been more intriguing if other perspectives were given.
For example, a perspective from the unknown villain who can be seen planning his/her next move or scenes with other minor characters (who directly or indirectly move the plot) reacting to the incidents would have added to the suspenseful atmosphere or at least created this feeling of something sinister lurking around the corner.
I am given to understand that it is a self-published, debut novel and this situation can create limitations for editing, and further research. However, it's really good to see that the author did what he could. There is definitely some heart and soul that went into the story and that needs to be appreciated.

Gripping story and beautiful narration- I ENJOYED READING this book. It is rare to get such good book to read amidst flood of typical rom-com or Y.A that has captured bookstores here in India. There is mystery, there is thrill, romance and emotions.
Waiting for more such books!!

An average thriller ,too much bollywood type but still very much readable. Finished in just couple of days. Grammar isn't great and the romantic angle comes across as forced. Fine for a quick light read.

Fast paced thriller !

For a beginner, this is a well crafted book. It is quite fast paced and not even a minute of it is boring. I recommend this one to all fans of Ashwin Sanghi.
Initially the book is all about rich people and rich lifestyles and that making them arrogant brats. Eventually their vulnerable sides are brought out as the story progresses. I read the whole book in one go, which has happened after a long time.
The twists are a bit predictable and the pace of the treasure is unbelievable. Characters change their locations with a high speed and even one of the guys make a remark about this. The character development of female leads could have been improvised on. But considering that the author is a 21 year old male, this was a nice attempt.
A good read for those who love fast paced thrillers.

The story is really good and so is the writing style. Prologue is beautifully written. The story didn't seem boring anywhere. Character development is average. There should have been some more shades to it. Nevertheless, if you keep the fact that this is the first novel by the author, its does exceptionally well. Hoping for more adventures and much more exploring of Indian culture.

The first book from our beloved Quoran and fictional crossover writer Divyansh Mundra. Can get a glimpse of both Sherlock and Divyansh in the character Mr. Aarav Kohrathi. Well researched historical facts about the locations are an icing on the cake. Though, some of the passwords and incidents were easy to guess in the first go. Overall, a decent read.

I am one of those fans of divyansh mundra, who, at times, open quora just to see if he answers any questions. ...
oh my God......
I wonder I am in love with this book..... it's my first book on treasure hunt..... at first, I thought it is just like any other treasure hunt novel with certain fights, silly ciphers, awkward and unbelievable chases..... but, dude, it is not..... it is way more greater than what we expect....
> the novel moves within the premises of India and is greatly interlinked with all the history bringing out the facts that will surely put u to the edge of the chair ..
> I never read it in the perspective of aarav... all the way, I am in an opinion that divyansh mundra( Mr.Divyansh mundra, i think he deserves that now) is speaking his words out.... I am really fond of his witty dialogues in quora.... that's a treat for the fans....
> I personally feel it would have been so better if the protagonist is bit strong and self motivating himself..... he is so weak to circumstances like love... wait, only love.... Ok, he is not a womaniser, the author is successful in creating that opinion....
> all merits of the story apart, the only demerit that really disappoints me is that the author diverts the story to the stereotypical concept called love..... he is aarav.... he is a renowned treasure hunter, he claims a lot of interest in geography, history etc... even the prime minister of India is a great fan of him.... he is designed to be Sherlock Holmes or Hercules poirot ... but such a great protagonist doing things like flirting, staring intensively etc is insane....
> i am not judging him.... as of I know, the author writes unique answers there at quora..... when it comes to writing a book, why he takes over the same Bollywood style.....
> beginning with quora, winning millions of fans by his unique answers, getting his book published with a concept bringing out the facts, history and essence of India is never an effortless attempt, rather it is priceless.... and its worth appreciating......
> I am waiting for a paperback novel to get into my shelves as I do not want to lose a pearl in my collection.....

The Himalayan Secret by Divyansh Mundra is yet another mystery book on the age-old secretive society of Samrat Ashoka and the great treasure that the society is guarding for centuries. There have been a lot of novels written around the Unknown Nine ministers of Ashoka who were appointed by the Emperor to safeguard the secret and ensure that it is protected from falling into the wrong hands. The secrete have been passed on from generations to generations and various writers have tried to keep them alive in the books – the Tenth Unknown, The Mahabharata Quest: The Alexander Secret; Nine: Vengeance of the Warrior; Nine: The Rise of Kalingan; Nine- The Curse of Kalingan, The Mahabharata Secret; etc., etc…

The Himalayan Secret is a fast-paced book and easy to read. However, there were a lot of gaps/flaws in the story plot. I have tried to mention some of the holes here, but they are not comprehensive. I am sure you would be able to find a lot more 

• Can’t understand why Aanya Vashishtha, the daughter of one of the richest man in India, meets a treasure hunter (Aarav Kohrrathi) after her father kills himself leaving behind a simple letter. At the time when her father commits suicide, she is not even aware that her father was part of a secret society. On reading the letter (after her father dies), Aanya couldn’t find anything unusual, or any sign which indicated to her that her father wanted her to unveil the greatest treasure of India. Then what leads her to meet a treasure hunter and seek his help is not clear.
• The writer mentions that there were 9 knowledgeable men appointed by Ashoka to take care of the treasure and these 9 people develop a book which carries the secret. However, within few years of the formation of the secret club two of the trusted men betrays and the rest of the members of the secret society works in eliminating the two betrayers and form the ring of seven. But what happened to the books that were with the two betrayers? If the secret to the treasure was mentioned in 9 books in the beginning, then how did Aarav discover the secret to Ashoka’s treasure from 7 books?
• The books mention that the ancient book was written in Sanskrit during the time of Ashoka, whereas the official language during Ashoka’s period of Prakrit/ Brahmi.
• On discovering the Book of Strategy (Arthashastra), Aarav enthusiastically narrates the history of the book and mentions that this would be the original book that Chanakya would have written. If this book was written by Chanakaya then how come Ashoka discovered it at Kalinga after the war?
• Aarav, Rehann, Aanya, Rehya along with 4 men very easily get into a foreign land (Nepal) and starts digging a historical and holy site. Wasn’t there anyone to stop them?
• After ripping off the floor of an ancient monastery in Nepal, when the group gets their hand on a lion statue, they pull out an ancient cloth which carries the map of the treasure. I believe the map would have been made during Ashoka’s period, which means approx. 2300 years old. Do you think a cloth can survive for that long?

and the list continues…

To cut the story short, I felt it was not a well-researched story.

Overall, I would rate the book 2.5 star

Just came across this book on Kindle and thought to give it a go. After finishing the book there were thoughts about something good and something not right in the book.
First Good...
Writer knows something about history. I am not a person who is interested in history, but since he has published it in the book, he must be having knowledge. Good.
Language was good and gripping.

Now somethings to think about....
Plot felt more inspired by the likes of Rozabal Line and Krishna Key, only to read that there was actual tonnes and tonnes of gold!!....Need to step up a little
More particularly, when Divyansh made everyone climb all Himalayan range in just one day (or half a day???) to reach the gold....it sounded amateur. First of all, not digestible....secondly he should have created some background around the characters where they could be doing something routine for the readers to absorb the fitness levels of all of them?? That would have been a bit more realistic.
Lastly the love story - Uh no...he could have done away with that dramatised touch.

But I just researched for the writer and learnt that this is the debut novel and he is a young writer. It is commendable. I guess his work will mature over the years to come.

I wish Divyansh all the best with his future works.

Moving and Mind Blowing

The story is so good and the narration is so fantastic and gripping that I wish that this epic was really a part of history.
It's more than a fictional story to me.

Thank you for giving us a truly thrilling, moving and mind blowing experience with such an impeccable writing! :D

I would suggest this book for a very light read on a run-of-the-mill kinda day.
Coming to the way the book's written, it is easily a novice's work with grammatical errors and a rocky narration style, giving attention to unnecessary detail - that makes it difficult for readers (or at least me) to keep the train of thought intact.
To me though, the book looked like many others on Wattpad - except the action tuned up and the dirt tuned down.
Anyways, I can see why the majority crowd would like this novel though. The characters are imperfect just as they should be and somewhat likeable too (though they lack depth). The riddles, puzzles, questions, a map, a "grand" adventure and the prospect of a treasure hunt combined with a little romance never hurt nobody. Also, it tends to appeal to the Indian masses specially because never has there been a Dan Brown style story in an Indian setting or at least a try. (Oh and too bollywood!)
This being a debut novel, I appreciate the research that went into it to correlate the minute details in history and setting. The story had to be carefully framed so facts and fiction align to come alive beautifully. That being said, it wasn't really a great suspense and runs really fast at times. If I might dare, a bit of a childish narration too.
Nevertheless, I have to salute the author for a great story, his refreshing ideas and for overcoming all the struggles he may have overcome to bring his work into the absolutely fierce Indian market.

Another novel based on the millennia-old secret society, supposedly founded by the Emperor Ashoka, and the secret it has been guarding all along, this one too follows the familiar formula of a few killings, a few riddles and some action packed adventure.
It's a quick, light read if the reader doesn't apply his / her brain much. Otherwise, there are several holes in this story; many of the actions of the characters are illogical and many sequences are implausible. And, the same old problem of poor editing (or none at all) plagues this novel too; I could count, without meaning to, at least sixty errors with respect to diction and grammar! Do people not read what they have written?
Considering that the author is a twenty one year old, and going by the vivid descriptions and the dramatic turns at some places in this novel, I feel that he has it in him to come up with better works in the future. Let us see...

A decent and easy read. As an debut author, he did a nice job.
It's not perfect. there are some plot holes and some totally unrealistic situations but the magnitude of the plot created by author keeps you engaged throughout the novel. Full marks to the imagination. The character development could have been better. The climax doesn't justify the hype created by the beginning of the novel.

I will be looking forward to the author's future projects. At least, he is better than chetan bhagat kind of authors which are polluting the indian literature with their shitty rom-coms.

Hey there Sherlockians! Looking for more than the 13 episodes? Here's s5 ep1 for you, albeit without lighting and an Indian Sherlock, but same demeanor. A well-thought plot, nicely written. As his fan of Quora, I've always loved how he describes the setting of the scene and he doesn't disappoint here too. The characters developed are kept close to reality as well. The writing style has a natural flow to it and the story has been written in an engaging way. If you've read him at Quora, you know what you're in for which won't be disappointing.

The research, the write up makes you believe at some points that the history to the places mentioned are somehow real. They make you Believe. You can almost picture the place, the people, the dramatic situations as if they are real, as if you are there at that moment. This is what this book makes you feel. A good read indeed. I will not be disappointed if a movie is to be made out of it.

The plot twist, the drama, the love and everything that a fantasy novel should have.

At every stage you expect something, and the third thing happens. So it keeps you engaged throughout.

Must read.

The book is super amazing! There were certain aspects of the plot which ended the way I thought they would, but the way in which the whole thing unfolded was simply brilliant. I also liked the way the author tied up certain loose ends in the story, how there was attention to detail and of course research on history and geographic locations is pretty impressive. Overall, a very good and fast read.

Aarav, an intelligent and egoistic treasure Hunter with Rehan, his friend and Anaya, daughter of a high profile man who recently committed Suicide, sets a mission to find the culprit and the greatest treasure of Emperor Ashoka, somewhere hidden in the Himalayas. Shayna Maheshwari is someone you would love to read about and is my favourite character in the book.

It's a good story by Divyansh Mundra. Nice characters, kind of expected the twists, but the narration was best. The climax could have been better. Plot turns around riches, the riddle breaking is fun and amazing. Aarav is best, but I wished Rehann have more riddles than Aarav. I really wished Rehann and Aanya to get together.

Thrilling, unique and satisfying

The characters are well created and the narration is decent as well. Emotions were well described amidst the pace set by the author on the treasure hunt. The character of Aarav Kohhrathi can be explored more and can be penned further to a series of Treasure Hunts. A good read!
