This book is written for all the window Shoppers of the magical things. If you're interested in anything metaphysical from tarot to oracle cards or crystals or runes or Angels or even meditation this is the book to give you a summary on all these things including astrology. Radleigh is easy to love and adore. The book gets only 4 stars because there was potential for so much more & I feel like the publisher just felt like it was time for another summary book since it's getting more popular these days.

Nice one in a book Guide with lot of options on how to connect with the universe. Each chapter a different tool, clear and easy to understand on what is means and how it works. A good book when you're looking for something that suits you. Or when you want to learn something new but don't know what yet. Just open the book read and feel, what is calling for you?

While this isn’t a new book, a lot of synchronicities led me to it. I don’t watch Gaia often, and usually only new shows turn up on my homepage. The other day, a show from several years ago popped up on the topic of divination (which was not something I’d been actively searching for). Turns out it was an interview with Radleigh Valentine. I wasn’t familiar with him but I wound up entranced with his personality and approach. Before the show was over, I’d picked up a Kindle version of this book.

Radleigh’s approach is to take the fear out of communicating with the Divine (Source, the Universe, your guides, God, whatever you choose to call it). His primary tool is psychic communication with Angles, but he’s also authored several books on manifestation and Tarot decks. In this book, he presents several oracles for communicating and manifesting through your own intuition with assistance from the Divine.

As I stated above, I was drawn to read this due in large part to the author’s personality and I’m happy to report it shines through. The information is also on point. Although it’s intended to be an introduction and overview, it covers a lot. Including:

Communication with Angles
Communication with Faeries
Tarot and Oracle Cards
Lenormand
Runes
Pendulums
The I Ching
Astrology
Numerology
Meditation
Mantras

I’m sure there are more, but the only one I can think of that wasn’t covered was reading tea leaves.

In each chapter, Radleigh lays out what type of person might be drawn to that particular oracle and an overview of how each system works and ways to manifest with it. Some chapters, like Astrology, I skipped over since I’ve studied it for over a decade but others I spent more time on. Regardless of what you’re drawn to, this is intended to be an overview for beginners so more study would be necessary. Except, perhaps, for the pendulum. They’re pretty easy to work with. However, he’s included a list of further reading for each topic and they’re pretty inclusive. I was happy to see my favorite astrologist, Steven Forrest, on the list with the same book I always recommend to people when they’re beginning their astrology studies.

I was mostly drawn to his section on reading the Runes, since I’ve worked with them but didn’t feel a great affinity for their message. What I wound up following up on was Numerology and the I Ching since I’m drawn to the more analytical, puzzle-oriented oracles. I do wish Angels or fairies spoke to me, since Radleigh would probably be amazing to work with. And I love the idea of mantras, but do not have the dedication to use them effectively.

I find that I rate non-fiction even more subjectively than fiction, always keeping in mind how far it advanced my own knowledge. This one didn’t add a lot to what I already knew, but it did propel me to look into a few methods more deeply. And it was a joy to read.

I rated this book four stars.

What a joyful book! I follow Radleigh’s wonderful readings on Instagram, so as I read this fabulous compendium, I could hear his voice in my head. If you don’t know; Radleigh sounds so joyous there’s almost a permanent giggle in his voice.

As to the content; it has a brief outline of many different divination tools which you can use to contact Spirit/Source/God/Divine (Radleigh rather obligingly frees you to choose the name you prefer).

As he points out, it is an introduction into each, as they all would demand a very large book on their own to go into great detail. But there’s sufficient information to give you an insight and a great start.

Radleigh’s humour is apparent throughout, and it’s more a conversation with the author than a dry, boring manual. It really is quite a fun read. I know; I just said that about a non-fiction book; wonders will never cease!

He makes it OK to think about it. I know so many people put off some things such as tarot, as they’ve watched too many movies. But Radleigh’s friendly explanations seek to reassure people a) the connection is divine b) not necessarily religious (particularly in context of meditation).

As a Reiki Master myself, I was having a conversation with a Methodist about my practice. She had difficulty trying to see past the source of the energy I channel. It’s Universal energy, but her beliefs meant she could only see this as claiming to be her version of God, and that somehow made it sacrilegious. And that’s OK; as Radleigh is keen to highlight, we’re all allowed our own views. Trying to keep an open mind enough to explore other options is very exciting though, so I think we both urge you to try.

Now, I’ve explored most of the things discussed in this book already, and am well-acquainted with my chosen ones. However, I still found this compendium useful. I’ve been prompted to revisit some things. For instance, I looked back through my birth chart, which now makes a lot more sense to me. And I looked up my numerology as well – kinda wish I hadn’t read the Name Essence though; tough times ahead, but forewarned is forearmed, and I can now prepare. Baton down the hatches!

So, you’ve seen the cover read the blurb, and some reviews. Should you read this one? You sure should!
Look, you’re obviously curious about things such as angels/tarot/astrology, so what are you waiting for? At least discover what your options are. And Radleigh explains in a way you will understand in his own wonderfully witty way.

Still not sure? See what your pendulum says ;)

This book is fluffy…it’s not even at the level of a 101 book. I was expecting it to be light, but not SO surface that very little is covered. The author even says on a few occasions that a particular divination seems too complicated or too hard. Yes, and? He uses solely the Ralph Blum book for the Runes chapter. One book?! Ralph Blum manufactured an inaccurate system and ignored the traditional runic alphabet, so it’s disrespectful to skip over any study of the actual runes. Only one inaccurate book and you feel like you can write a chapter on this? The mantras chapter is inaccurate, especially in its implication that one must dedicate hours a day in a traditional style to add a mantra practice to your life. Nope! As a student of
Yoga and Buddhism, this is so misguided. The chapter on meditation focused more on how “hard” it is than how to start a basic practice, and I found it to have inaccuracies as well. I did enjoy the Introduction, and his chapter on Lenormand inspired me to purchase a book to learn more, though he was discouraging about how hard it was to memorize the meanings. Two stars for his zesty personality and the introduction, but the rest of the book needed more research and an actual editor.

Radleigh is wonderful. He is magical. I could hear him as I was reading this amazing book. Full of fun stuff and magical things. I took a course in many of these many years ago and I got more out of Radleigh's informative and delightful description of ways to communicate with the Divine than I did from the whole course. Definitely a keeper and reference book. Now that I have read it going to start studying what I've read and use some of the techniques from the book. Thanks Radleigh. You are a magical Genie!!!!

Very Enjoyable!

Radleigh is humorous and informative, giving a very thorough get light introduction to the most common Oracles. If you've ever heard his sweet southern voice, reading the book will be as if he were sitting down having tea with you. While i have seen him speak, this is my first book by Raleigh and it's such a delightful read; I'm excited to check out another one of his works!

Even if you're familiar with Oracles, I'd still recommend this book. I found it to give me a new perspective and definitely sparked my curiosity in surprising ways!

A great introductory book for divination techniques and tools! Most of these are well known, so it wasn’t as much of a teaching compendium for me as it was a reiteration of skills and how another individual experiences these(I’m always pleased to learn how another experiences the world, so it was cool to see where Radleigh’s interests lie!). It gave me a lot of inspiration to always keep researching and adding to my own personal toolbox of divination skills.

A look at a wide array of divination tools

This is a very simple look at a wide array of divination tools along with their history all presented in a fun loving way. The author takes you through divination tools giving the reader enough details on each one to help them determine if they want to try it or not. Each one was fun to learn about and it was presented in a way to help someone who is curious or not learn about a new form of divination. I enjoyed it.

Interesting history on divination tools. Several I had not heard of or tried. I appreciated the author's research into each, and the tips on use. I prefer tarot cards, oracle cards, vision boards, crystals and stones and Reiki. I found myself drawn the Runes and will spend more time learning about them.

A joyful book that resembles playful Radleigh’s energy. I am one of his students of his Certified Angel Tarot Reader programme and love how he infuses knowledge with fun and humour. The book is no different. I really enjoyed reading about the different divinatory tools, their applications and history. Recommended for seekers of divination.

Love Radleigh Valentine. This book brought me back to loads of magical practices that I had fallen away from and introduced me to lots more with loads of related reading material to get my head into. Written with the light heart that is very much his style, this book was so easy to read and very enjoyable.

Love this

What a great little book.
Several of the things I already use and love but still learned something more about them. A lot of the other things I’d only heard about and it was a great foundation to see if I wanted to explore them more.
Love his writing style and sense of humor. So refreshing in a “good for you” book.

I enjoyed this overview of the many ways in which we can connect with the divine. Some are worth exploring further and not all resonate with me. I enjoyed every page.

There isn't enough information here to learn anything. It's just an introduction to these systems. "Compendium" is a misnomer.
