Enzo is a 17-year-old who seems older. He isn't a particularly nice boy, nor a particularly good boy. He's not a boy at all, but a man in a young body. And then a gorgeous young girl steals his Rolex and throws his life a little off kilter.
As this is a prequel novella, I wasn't expecting it to feel as well-rounded as it is. I already feel as if I know Enzo and Kai. I can tell their story is going to be dark, twisted and gritty. I just hope it ends up with a little joy because the journey to their end is going to hurt!

A very interesting start! I have no clue where this series is going to go (I rarely do with Ella Miles' work) but I'm intrigued by the little tidbits we got. A short, dark, and suspenseful romance story, Lured by Lies is a prequel novella to the new Truth or Lies Series by Ella Miles. It's filled with betrayal, lies, twists, lust, obsession, danger, and an unexpected ending that will leave you begging for the next book.

I'm usually not a fan of dark romances. However, Ella Miles has a way of making them enjoyable. This book is the prequel to her next series. It was very enjoyable and I look forward to seeing how things are going to go. I just hope when everything is done that Enzo and Kai will get a happy ending.

Enzo And Kai’s Story Is A Dark And Twisted Slow Burn That Will Have You On The Edge Of Your Seat. Amazing Twists And Turns!
This is the prequel (book 0.5) of the six part Truth or Lies series. It is incorporated into book one, Taken by Lies, comprising the first ten chapters. Each book reads like a roller coaster, with unexpected gut-clenching twists and turns. Enzo and Kai both grew up in a brutal world, but one was raised in luxury and the other in extreme poverty. They have an undeniable connection, but every time they cross paths or begin to drop their defenses, something seems to pull them apart. There are many questions and many lies, but answers do come with patience. The books are best read back to back since the plot is very complex.
The myth that surrounds the Black name in Miami and beyond is legendary, demanding both fear and respect. Danger defines Mr. Black; ruthless describes him. He rules Miami, where he runs Surrender, an invitation only club where deals are made by the high-powered members of the underground that frequent it. Mr. Black also runs many other clubs in Miami, has a fleet of yachts that he deals with, and runs a security firm. The fleet gives him access to the lawless waters of the ocean as well as the world beyond Miami.
Enzo Black, seventeen, drinks to numb the memories that haunt him. He grew up in comfort and has more money than he will ever need, but his life has not been easy. As the son of Mr. Black, he knows he has an image to maintain. There is no room for feelings for someone like him. He has blood on his hands. His father has trained him in the family business for years, expecting that Enzo might one day take over. His second hands happen to be his two best friends, Langston and Zeke. The twists and turns in this story are amazing. You won’t see what is coming! The characters are carefully crafted. The story is written in first person. The POV alternates between Enzo and Kai. Enzo is seventeen and Kai is sixteen in this prequel novella, where Enzo is living in luxury as he prepares to take over the family business and Kai is struggling to get her next meal without owing another debt. We are giving a little bit of background on our main characters in this novella that will hopefully be beneficial as the series continues.
The way that these teenagers talk to each other... why do they think that they are in some action movie where there will be dramatic pauses and people with cower when they speak? If a seventeen-year-old boy talked to a sixteen-year-old me the way that Enzo speaks to Kai, I would literally laugh in his face. I understand that they both live in a different circumstance -- Enzo, being raised as a killer, and Kai, being raised just to survive -- but it was getting truly annoying by the end of the novella.
Am I supposed to be shaking in my boots when Enzo acts like he is a certified killer? Yes, he has actually killed people, but almost every word out of his mouth feels embarrassing rather than intimidating, as if he is playing a character in a high school play rather than on the hunt to kill someone. And with Kai -- the way she acts just seems completely inaccurate to how anyone would act if they found out that they were in danger, especially from the boy she has had two interactions with in the past twenty four hours.
Enzo is always one step ahead when it comes to Kai's plans. She thinks that she can outsmart him with all of her actions, but he is able to anticipate nearly every single one of her next moves. Which is to be expected, because she is literally a sixteen-year-old girl and he is this "villain" that men twice his age will listen to. Honestly, Kai's survival instincts are minimal at best, and I was more concerned about the fact that she cannot keep her mouth shut when necessary than the fact that Enzo is walking around town guns blazing.
I have to say that this novella did not leave me as excited as I thought I would be to continue with the series. The writing seems a little out of touch for teenagers, but the first book in the series takes place three years later, so I have hope they grow into their character traits and get a better dialogue between them. Lured by Lies is a very quick read -- it took be less than thirty minutes in total to read -- and definitely touches on some more dark topics, which the author does mention that trigger warnings should be checked before proceeding with the series.

The ending is a tease of what is to come and I can't wait for more to come!!! This book has some triggers, so be warned, and the series promises more triggers as well as a love/hate dark romance. Lured by Lies by Ella Miles is the ultimate set up of a lot more darkness, twisted and unpredictable plot, not to mention violence yet to come. Wonderfully well written book full of passion, emotions, longing and violence creating a truly dark romance with gripping suspense.
These characters are just as compelling as the plot and ending with a cliffhanger is guaranteed to keep the reader hooked! For me, Taken by Lies is an absolute must read I cannot wait for!

This prequel novella provides a very tempting start to this enticing new series. Enzo and Kai are introduced to readers here and you know that there story is going to be intense, dark and hot. Edgy, suspenseful and twisty, this quick read leaves you hanging and hungry for more in preparation of book 1, Taken by Lies. I am very intrigued and eager to see where the story goes from here because both these characters seem to be in-between a rock and a hard place.

Great Book
Enzo is told by his father to kill Kai but when asked why no answer was given. Enzo takes Kai on a boat and leaves her in the water to survive and get away so she can live. Kia returns to the shore exhausted but tries to keep going to get to her father so they can leave but unfortunately she is picked up by two men on the shore put into a van and kidnapped. This is a great start to this series and I am looking forward to reading the next book.

Lured me in!
Oh what a great start to this series! Two lost souls, both desperate to escape, one destined to die. This book sets the stage for what is sure to be an explosive story. So many questions, so many lies. Enzo and Kai are sure to have one heck of a wild ride! Excited for the next book!

I want more!!!
I gave this book 5 stars, wish it could have been more. This book gives a glimpse into how everything went wrong for Kai. It tells you how she met Enzo and how things fell apart. I want the next book asap! The writing grabs you from oage one. The characters are well written and relatable. Will definitely be reading more of Ella's work.

Not for the faint of heart
This book isn’t for everyone. This book is gritty and hard to read at times. It is well written and interesting. I do wonder what will happen next and in the future.

Holy Moly!

Teasers
Teaser, I have a love-hate relationship with them. They always give you just enough background to setup the plot for the main series but leave you hang on an epic cliffhanger since you only just get to know the characters. These does have the males for a good series.

Wow...just, WOW!

Loved this prequel novella. Short but gives you a taste of some great characters. Love the style of writing Ellis Miles does. That need to know and can’t put it down feeling.

This prequel was great! It gave enough of a storyline to make good story but also managed to leave a lot unanswered which is what prequel should do! Can’t wait to read Taken By Lies!
