The rules for demon slaying are simple. Rule #3: Never tempt a demon. ...With a promise you can’t keep.
Surrounded by her great-grandfather’s demon bodyguards, Lyn’s days of running from would-be assassin angels finally slow down.
For about .04 seconds.
When knowledge of her divine ancestry reaches a secret sect known as the Sons of Solomon, a not-so-new enemy rises from the bowels of Hell, sending Lyn, Sam, and Angie into a fight for their lives.
As Lyn’s role in what could very well be Armageddon comes to light, one certain truth becomes obvious: Good and evil are not black and white.
The rules go out the window in this third installment of the riveting Daughter of Eve series by award-winning urban fantasy author J.D. Brown. Perfect for fans of Darynda Jones, Illona Andrews, and Izzy Shows.
J.D. Brown knows that vampires exist because she’s dating one and no, he doesn’t sparkle. Unfortunately, he’s not immortal either (or maybe her standards are too low). A magnet for subcultures and weirdness, J.D. was that socially awkward girl with more fictional friends than real ones. As a child battling a hearing loss and a medical condition with no name, J.D. found comfort in books where strong women always saved the day and got the guy. An obsession with Charmed, Sabrina the Teenage Witch and Buffy the Vampire Slayer led J.D. to believe that her mutated chromosome made her something more, not something less. Thus her stubborn flare to persevere was born. A lover of fine cuisine, coffee, and shoes, J.D. never understood why shoe stores don’t serve Starbucks and soufflé. She resides in Wisconsin were she writes urban fantasy—aka vampires for adults—and has political debates with her dogs. She loves to hear from fans and is active on http://Facebook.com/AuthorJDBrown
would like to thank jd brown for the arc to read and review and give an unbiased view of this amazing book ....and wow what a book
never tempt a demon
wow jd brown does it again...a compelling story of good v evil..with fights between demons and angels...who are the good guys and the bad...
the characters are developing nicely which when you think lyn and sam are opposites..one an a part angel the other a demon its adds very nicely to the mix...and then there is lyn bodyguard who has lost her earthly body but who is still around just only angels and demons can see her
its a tale that will keep you reading late into the night and you wont be disappointed...cant wait for the next book in this series
What do you do when you are being chased by assassin angels , you surround yourself with great gradfathers demon bodyguards . Lyn is finally not running for the grand total of about 3 seconds . When the secret sect Sons of Solomon start coming after her. Whats a girl got to do to get 5 mins of quiet time and a cup of coffee. With her guardian and the fallen angel that is bound to her. Well they run and fight to save Lyn from opening the portal and then from the sons of solomon . Will she and her band of misfits survive the onslaught from every angle and will Lyn get her cup of coffee . The characters are getting better with each book . Lyn is still snarky and kicking butt . But there is an underlying sadness within her. She lost her best friend and she is still trying to figure out what the heck she is suppose to do . Angie well she is doing her best as a guardian angel to help Lyn keep it together . She is the literally the anget sitting on her shoulder . Sam well he is being his broody sexy self . Who is trying to help Lyn but he also has his own agenda . He is one conflicted man / angel . You will like him . The story is heating up with the building feelings between Lyn and Sam and the author teases us with the feelings they are starting to have for each other . Those are so much fun to read , cause you know there will be some snarky comments escaping Lyn's mouth each and every time . Angie and Lyn have the sweetest relationship , more like sisters then friends . you will love them . The twists and turns the author takes us on will have you on the edge of your seat . As i say there there were a few parts that i really couldn't connect with and i felt the story just kind of drug a little . Overall i truly enjoyed this addition to the series and I can't wait for the next book in the series . So if you want a great series with lots of snark and sassiness in the heroine and hot sexy fallen angels and demons who you think that should be trying to steal your soul but they are protecting you . These are the books for you .

First Line: Belial stalked along the corridor leading to the advisory room of his brother’s domain.
Review: Lyn (Evelyn) Conway, Daughter of Eve, a paranormal investigator set on destroying demons, is back, only this time running for her life while being protected by…demons, and sexy hot Sam (an angel turned), and Angela (a true Guardian angel that’s now wearing a target on her back).
J.D. Brown keeps the escalating heat between Sam and Lyn, all the while pumping up the threats on Lyn and Angela’s lives. Packed full of action, fast-paced, lots of thrill rides through portals, and new and challenging enemies at every turn.
The banter continues between Lyn and Angela – realistic, emotional, and fun. There are a couple new story-stars introduced here, and I’m hoping one of them comes back into the next story. I got a bit attached this demon from the trunk (you need to read it to know her:)
I’m never disappointed in the monster mash mix Ms. Brown pens – and this story leaves me ecstatic there will be another book in this series.
I give Never Tempt a Demon (A Daughter of Eve Book 3) by J.D. Brown, 5 stars.
Lyn thought the battle was done. She thought she could breathe easier now. I mean, she's got all these bodyguards now so life should be good, right? Well, her life is so not that easy. Turns out now the Sons of Solomon are after her. Can she fight them and keep her life together? Not to mention the guilt she feels from the results of the last battle. Is she really meant for this?
I love this series and this installment more than gave it justice. You see Lyn growing and adapting, but she is still human so she has faults too. The story is so well-written and the story pulls you in immediately and does not let go until the end. All of the characters are wonderful, they are friends of mine and I was so sad when I had to let them go in the end. I am on the edge of my seat until the next book comes out!
I highly recommend this book and series to lovers of a wonderful, strong female character in an urban fantasy story.
This book and series was quite amazing!! This series has it all...Action, suspense and comedy. Lyn is hilarious!! Lyn with her best friend Angela are really put through the wringer again as does Sam the hot as hell angel that she still bound to after three books. A few new key players are in this book. We see who the true leader is and what they are after. This series is definitely Paranormal/Fantasy but not Adult. There is a little heat but nothing to blush about. Its fun that way because the author concentrates on the story instead of throwing sex around everywhere. You can never go wrong with this author. She's a great writer. I've been with her since the beginning and she has drastically upped her game! Well done!
The Daughter of Eve series starts to get a little darker and even more involved with its 3rd installment, Never Tempt A Demon. We are getting to know and understand the motives of the characters so much better in this book. The author is doing a great job of character development and growth. The story has gotten scarier and more pensive. I was on the edge of my seat with anticipation as I watched this story unfurl. I found myself rooting, and rooting hard, for Lyn and friends to come through it all safely. I also found myself rooting for Lyn and Sam to work out their issues and get together. You'll have to read the book to see how those things turned out. Now I'm just waiting not-so-patiently for book 4.
I am delightfully baffled. I have no idea what to expect will happen next in this series and I LOVE IT! Lyn is at her snarky best as she tries to untangle what’s really going on. As the Legions of Heaven and splinter factions of Hell all vie for the honor of killing her, Angie and Sam have to take some drastic measures to keep her safe. We learn a little about Lyn’s history and the history of the Daughters of Eve. We also see the political manoeuvring become more complex as the powerful turn on each other. I can’t even begin to guess what might be in store for Lyn next, but I know it’s going to be an adrenalin rush I don’t want to miss. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author.
Lyn (Evelyn) Conway, Daughter of Eve, an paranormal investigator is back and again the author hits it out of the park. There hasn't been a book yet that i haven't enjoyed by this author and this isn't going to break the trend. There is action, adventure and so much more for the heroine and her friends.
I enjoyed this book so much that i found it hard to put down and do other things. PS. this is a good thing. My favorite thing about this series is the attitude of the Lyn and how she speaks her mind and the attraction between her and Sam is hot hot hot. Get ready for action, some romance, some angst and just an overall good read.
If you enjoy Urban fantasy with a sassy heroine then this is the series for you.
Awesome book! It was a fun read full of even more sass, excitement and a Hell of a lot of demons. It seems like at this point pretty much everyone and everything has it out for Lyn so it's a good thing she's got her bestie and Sam looking out for her. And it seems like she is finally figuring out that the line between the good guys and the bad guys is not as black and white as she first thought. And the more she learns the bigger her headache gets... Some days there just isn't enough coffee. I am really loving this series and I can't wait to see what kind of trouble Lyn and company get into next. In my opinion Never Tempt a Demon is definitely recommend.
The continuing adventures of Lynn, Angie her guardian angel BFF and Sam the fallen angel. Lynn has made a deal with her great grandfather to open the gate there’s just one problem she doesn’t know how. Sam looks for a way to help her and protect her once her usefulness to grandfather Lucifer is up. Angie looks to keep her safe. And Lynn is looking for answers. Introduced is a new group to the mix the Sons of Solomon. Action packed, tons of surprises and lots of laughs too. A great read, can’t wait to see what happens next! I received an ARC from the author. I voluntarily review this book. This is my honest review.
Never Tempt a Demon is a spectacular continuation in A Daughter of Eve series!! It seems like Lyn can just never catch a break. If it’s not assasin angels hunting her, it’s a Son of Solomon? As Lyn learns more and more about her expected role in this impending war, her, Sam and Angie find themselves once again running for their lives. But at the end of the day, only Lyn knows exactly what she has to do to get them all through this. This is a 5 star series, hands down, and you must read it!!!
This book had the worst editing so far. It was so distracting and very disappointing. I've also decided that if I ever see or hear the word squelched ever again it will be too soon. Repetitive phrases aren't cute, they're awful. I don't know, I'm committed now I think, but I'm also hesitant to buy the next one given Brown clearly didn't bother to even proof read her book. Most of the errors should've been picked up on a read through. Hence the two stars. The story itself is okay.
Wow, this is another thrilling installment of A Daughter of Eve Series. The storyline is well-written, fast-paced, filled with deception, danger, twists, suspense, demons, and angels. The developed characters have substance, are likable, and/or detestable, and will surprise you. There are sadness and loss woven into this fight between good and evil. I loved it. I voluntarily read an ARC and this is my honest review.
Just wow! This series keeps on getting better and better. So many twists and turns that this one will keep you on your toes, there is never a dull moment. Fast paced and beautifully constructed, it's a real page turner. There is no black and white, only blurred lines, and the characters are amazing. I adore the portrayal of Lucifer in this one. Funny and well written, I love this book.
Lucifer has sent an army of demons, of various shapes and sizes, to protect his great-grandaughter, Lyn, but can they protect her from a new enemy, the Sons of Solomon, who will pull out all the stops in an attempt to destroy the last Daughter of Eve. Once again plenty of action, humour and the unravelling of secrets, great read. Can’t wait to find out what happens next.
Oh J.D. you have done it yet again! This is a great addition to the already great series. To say they just keep getting better and better is an understatement. Od if I could give it more stars. Keep them coming J.D, thank you!
The Daughter of Eve series continues to give me surprises and I couldn't be happier. The writing is excellent as we follow Lyn, Sam, and Angie. This is a voluntary review of an advance reader copy. I cannot wait to see what comes next.
What a read, it has it all. Laugher, action, and a superb written storyline. The characters brought the book to life. This whole series is not to be missed. I recieved a copy and this is my honest review
I am loving this series more and more as I get through it!! Lyn has gone through so much being a daughter of eve. And Angie eeek!! I couldn’t believe some of the things that I found out about Sams past! Woah!! I can’t wait to find out what happens In The next book!! Ahhhh!
I enjoyed it immensely. Characters were described so well it is if you were in same room.you could picture them in your mind. All the angels, fallen angels and even Lucifer! What a great line up.
So book three in the series and what a cracker this is, Lynn is certainly getting into some strange situations. Cannot wait for book four, who knows what will happen next. Highly recommended.
This book just did not hold my attention loke the previous ones. I plan on finishing the series no matter what it just wasn't as engaging for me. It might be my mood that is just not into it.
I got steadily more and more annoyed with this book. I am not sure who the antagonist is anymore. I understand that the author wants to show that nothing is black and white, but I don’t know who the bad guy is and who the good guy is, so I don’t really care. The author doesn’t explain anything about the two different sides. There’s no real explanation for why an angel would fall, and what the difference is between demons and fallen. I wish that the author would explain more about Sam. I just wish this book (third book by the way) didn’t leave me with more questions.
I received this as an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review.
J.D. has done it again.
Eve finds her self in another mess requiring help from Angie and Sam. She now finds out what the gate is and does, knows she is expected to open it. People not being able to see Angie makes talking to her a bit difficult but as always her protection is ever present.
The book is well written, fast paced and always interesting.
