Leah Reed is the perfect wife and mother, living a privileged life. Erin Blake recently graduated college and is interning at a law firm, while Amber Shephard is a deadbeat mom trying to stay sober to be part of her young son’s life. These three women are complete strangers on different paths in life until one single day connects them in a horrible way. All three of their lives are turned upside down. Erin is unexpectedly pregnant with Leah’s husband’s baby. In turn, Leah finds herself raising her young child alone. Amber tumbles further into substance abuse. For each woman, the future seems bleak as they realize that missing someone you love is the hardest thing to heal. These women have to work through the aftermath of what happened, striving to rebuild new lives from the pieces left behind. Their journey of self-destruction, discovery, and growth over the hardest years of their lives. Falling apart can leave you with fragments of who you once were…but those pieces can also make you whole.
It’s super cool when your friend writes a book! Loved Fragments. It’s told in multiple POVs and it jumps around back and forth in time which kept me intrigued and wanting to know what was going on the entire time. I didn’t guess the tragedy that the characters all shared and was pretty surprised by it when I learned what happened. It was a great reminder of how life can happen and the ways we can choose to deal with things outside of our control.
