Simon Christopher Francis Furman is a British comic book writer who is best known for his work on Hasbro/Tomy's Transformers franchise, starting with writing Marvel's initial comic book to promote the toyline worldwide, as well as foundations for both Dreamwave Production's and IDW Publishing's takes on the Generation 1 minifranchise.

This new version of Robotech is really growing on me. It has similarities with the original story, but there are some big changes. It also makes the story new (since I am fairly knowledgeable about this entire series of novels).

The SDF is trying to return to Earth, but Earth fearing alien invasion doesn't want them back. Meanwhile, the Zentradei are trying to infiltrate the SDF-1. The mystery about Roy Fokker and his double is explained and it sheds a sinister light on Dr. Lang. The story ends with the Invid making an appearance.

Good, interesting story and good artwork make this a Robotech fan's kind of comic.

This series is switching gears from one I enjoy to one I want to finish. Art is still enjoyable, but the logic is a tad meh.

This volume was a delight to read, only because it really fleshes out a lot of the more subtle intrigue of the story that the original cartoon didn't quite get to go into detail about. And there's so much to unpack including the weird clone of Roy, the enemy spies in Macross City and the SDF-1 finally returning to Earth! With all this going on and the many intrigues even with our alien antagonists, this book has a lot to offer.

I really like how they've chosen to visually represent Rick Hunter's new ability to perceive things somehow through protoculture - it really works in the comic medium.

And oh man, what a cameo for the next Robotech arc!

I would probably like this a bit more if I had started the new comic series from the beginning. I've seen the old Robotech anime saga, and I got confused pretty quickly. Fortunately, enough of it made sense that I could follow the gist of the story.
One last note is that I read the trade paperback version instead of the Kindle edition, but the Kindle edition is the only one listed.

Great collection of issues. This group is all new ground for this retelling. Lots of interesting things happen in this volume. The Invid are on the ship and a mysterious Invid hunter comes through with them.
