Security Alliance International is a security firm that is owned and operated by retired SEALs. It is made up of elite warriors culled from some of the most revered military forces. Every operator has impeccable ethics and doesn’t quit until the job is done.
Vortex Vivi DuMond’s clinic is caught in the crossfire of a turf war that threatens both her life and livelihood. Can the NOPD and Feds handle it or does she need more? Joel McDade runs the Florida office of SAI and he’s been roped into protecting Vivi as a favor to his old client Ronnie DuMond. As much as he would like to refuse, he knows he can’t. Can the retired Navy SEAL protect the good doctor and her clinic? Or…will the vortex of events make that impossible? Watch what happens when two people are caught in a whirling mass of threats outside of their control. Will they be pulled in together or will the conflict pull them apart?
This is the first book in my new series and it's a stand-alone novel. However, you may enjoy reading First and Second Down from the First and Ten series. It's where you meet the DuMond family and all of the fun people who are featured in this book.
Bestselling author Lea Hart writes sexy, feel-good romances. She loves a sharp quip, an icy gin and tonic, and a long walk when the muse disappears. When she’s not writing, she spends time with her family and friends and attempts to stay on top of her TBR pile.

When your protector ends up stealing your heart...
The Security Alliance International Series is about a group of retired Navy SEALS who use their skills to provide security services. This is the second book that I've read of this series, but I did read them out of order as this is actually book number one. Each book is standalone, so this wasn't a problem, but it does feature characters from the next book, too.
Vivi is trying to help a community it need. Her clinic offers services to families who may not otherwise get healthcare. It's a job that Vivi and her friends feel passionate about. Unfortunately, because the clinic is located on the border between two gang territories, a string of terrible incidents have occurred as the gangs fight for control of the property and prescription drugs. The clinic is no longer a safe place for work.
In comes Joel, our hunky Navy SEAL whose specialty is providing protection no matter how serious the danger. He and his team are determined to do whatever it takes to protect Vivi and her friends from the threats against them. What Joel didn't expect was to develop something even more dangerous--feelings for Vivi.
I actually liked this book even more than the second one. I liked Joel and Vivi's characters and their budding romance was spicy. The secondary characters were entertaining, too. I laughed and smiled and held my breath through a few of the suspenseful scenes. It was a fun read!
In closing... I'm still looking forward to the next book of the series! But for this one, four suns!
I really enjoyed this book of Lea Hart's. I have read the other books and they always have great alpha men with strong women who maybe aren't ready to be won by the guy. Vortex introduces us to some new characters and you get to see some of the ones from the other books too. Joel is an ex-SEAL and Vivi is a doctor. Both of them have lost their significant other and don't think they'll ever fall in love again. I loved that these characters were a little older (mid to late 30's) and finding a second chance at their love of a lifetime. Joel wasn't sure about his feelings for a long time and when he realize what he was feeling it took Vivi a while to realize what was happening between them. Vivi is also in danger and Joel will do whatever it takes to protect her. I enjoyed the story and the cast of characters that we met along the way. I can't wait to see if some of the other characters get to have their stories told as well.
Lea Hart has written another winner, with a strong, silent, reluctant hero and a strong, sassy reluctant heroine who find each other in spite of themselves. A couple of critisims/editing issues. First of all, when they're flying from NO to Miami, they aren't going to watch the sunset out the cockpit window unless they're flying backward, considering that they're flying east and the sun sets in the west. And then, as a Louisiana gal myself, some things that decent research into the Louisiana setting should have turned up. 1. Her friends aunts would have lived at Pearl River, not River Pearl. 2. Tommy Budrow's name would be spelled Boudreaux. And last but not least 3. No self-respecting southerners would be caught dead saying "you all". The correct word would be "ya'll". Other than these small little edits, this book is a definite winner!
I really loved this book, the main two characters where strong funny loving and loyal to those who needed it. Not only are the men strong but the woman are too the story was well written and the romance was really good an amazing story of finding love a second time round. I will be read more books by LEA HART.
You did it again another block bluster! You have such fantastic duo's and storylines that you can not put down till you read the last word and want more! A must read for new readers!
I loved this book. The characters are wonderful. They are strong, loyal, smart, and determined. I love that the women have those traits as well as the men. The story, the action scenes, and the romances are great. I will read more by this author for sure!
This story can be read without reading the previous books though is does build on the alpha men of SAI and the Demond family. Loved Ronnie in first and ten, this story is about her sister. A member of the widow's club, Vivi is being threatened and SAI is tasked with her safety. The hero Joel is the boss of the Florida branch and along with two others travel to New Orleans to protect Vivi and her friends. The love story is slow to build because Viv doesn't want an alpha male or any male for that matter. She wants to work at her clinic and have a baby without a baby daddy. One broken condom later, she is expecting. At times the internal arguments got a little repetitive. Uncle Bucks character was hilarious. We did get to read about Ronnie and Chase and their impending adoption of twins. Ironically Viv gets pregnant with twins. The story is well written and follows the pattern of the previous stories. Still hoping Scott gets his happy ever after soon.
Another adventure with the DuMond Family. The oldest sister, Vivi, is a doctor who runs a free clinic in one of New Orleans' poorest neighborhoods, Algiers. They have been robbed and threatened, and lately, bodies have been left inside their clinic.
Ronnie asks the Miami office of SAI to help and protect the three powerhouse women who run and staff the clinic. Joel, who heads the office, goes down reluctantly because he does not get along with Vivi. There is a reason for that, as will soon be seen. Turns out both of them have things in their past that they need to overcome.
The story becomes a crime story, a love story, and oh, so many other things. I have to commend Ms. Hart on the dialogue in this one, particularly between Vivi and Joel. It is hilarious.
Good book. Worth the time. Plot was interesting enough. Was a through romance novel. Other subplots were over shadowed by the romantic scenes Felt story dragged a bit at the end butstill very enjoyable.
