It should be easy for the most famous vampire rock star in the world to get the girl, but he isn’t interested in just any girl…
Caleb, a.k.a. “K”, the lead singer and guitarist for an all-vampire band, is consumed by a single burning desire: to be reunited with his Spirit Song. After waiting more than three centuries for her return, he may have finally found her current incarnation. But will she believe they are soulmates?
Candy has never been good at relationships. An awkward stand-up comedienne with a cheeseburger obsession, she’s certain she is destined for a lifetime of loneliness. When a famous, enigmatic rock star approaches her at a diner one evening with a strange tale of reincarnation, she thinks his story is no more than an elaborate pickup line—although she agrees to one date.
As the shadows that cloak K’s life start to fall away, Candy discovers there is more to him than meets the eye, another side to him that terrifies her. Candy desperately wants to love him, but can’t reconcile the man she’s falling for with the monster she fears. If K can’t win her over, he will lose his last chance to love his soulmate. Can Candy come to love both man and monster, or will she reject Caleb, leading him to self-destruction?
3 - Origin is my 1st book from A.G. Greir and book one of The Vailore Saga, which I found while hunting for a book to fit a reading challenge task. A.G. Greir has given us a tiny peek into what could amount into an intriguing and potentially immense world. I loved the idea of a spirit song ('Azmuri') and would love a playlist for it. This had tremendous potential and any issues I had could be strictly just that, 'my issues'. I found the 'comedy' fell flat, a few situations and/or word choice(s) that caused eyerolls. I wanted to love Origin, it wasn't quite love, but I did enjoy it. Overall, I felt that it missed on possibilities. Origin was stronger after about 60% and I actually teared up during the journal section. I did enjoy the story enough to have picked up the next book via Kindle Unlimited.
This was a easy read. K is a vampire who has encountered his Azmuri or spirit song a few times over his long life and she’s finally been born again as Candy. Candy is kind of skeptical about the reincarnation thing but just goes with it since she’s really into K. They are a cute sarcastic couple and I loved their chemistry. K is ready to become mortal and live out his days with Candy so he won’t have to be without her again but his family isn’t ready for him to leave them just yet. He may have been tired but him giving up as grand master would have left all of his people at risk. And it didn’t seem like him becoming mortal would actually let him grow old with Candy.🤷🏾♀️. His sons suggested that he have a talk with Candy to see if she’d be willing to be turned. While she was considering being turned a horrible car accident and K’s twin Lilith made the decision for them both. Overall, I liked the book and the characters.
First time reading this author's work. Truly enjoyed this, couldn't put it down! Enjoyed the buildup, cohesive plot. Luckily the blurb was interesting because the cover art didn't attract me as a reader.
