➽ KITTY KATS CRAZY ABOUT BOOKS
Image and video hosting by TinyPic Image and video hosting by TinyPic This starts off in Erin’s senior year at Rocky Falls High, where she is subjected to harsh bullying with spans over the years by one girl in particular and her cronies Ever since Tegan came to my fifth birthday party, and her aunt died the next day, she's taken it upon herself to make my life hell, as if somehow it was my fault she’s the town's pariah, a poor little orphan girl I'm the poor little orphan you don't want to get too close to, just incase my bad luck rubs off on you. she may not know her history or even when her birthday is but that hasn’t impacted on who she is as a person, she has one of the most beautiful souls one could read about, instead of the daily bullying mean girls exist everywhere bringing her down it only made her stronger than she actually gave herself credit for, she was an outcast with only one close friend at school, but what if that close friend was also getting bullied?

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Things change in the blink of an eye when a new boy, Mason Knight starts school and he takes a seat right beside her in class which is the only time he really seems to talk to her, he also keeps to himself. But this leads from her becoming his tutor, teaching history, to so much more.

Some parts of this book were hard to read, a harsh reality to what can happen in our schools today, where other scenes made me swoon and fall in love with these two characters.
Our heroine was such a strong character, even through all she had to endure a sense of strength shone through. Our hero garnered all the feels, protective, thoughtful, swoon worthy.
I inhaled this and am glad that there is more to come, I want to see their growth as a couple and separately as they fulfil their dreams.

ROUGH REVIEW WILL FINISH IT OFF IN THE MORNING.

WHEN WE FALL: Is a standalone romance novel by Sloane Murphy and is a new to me author but definitely won’t be the last. Set up in ‘Two Parts’ The first part we see these two in High school the Second part they are trying to put themselves back together after being involved in a tragic terrorizing event.

This starts off in Erin’s senior year at Rocky Falls High, where she is subjected to harsh bullying, she’s the town's pariah, a poor little orphan girl she may not know her history or even when her birthday is but that hasn’t impacted on who she is as a person, she has one of the most beautiful souls one could read about, instead of bullying bringing her down it made her stronger than she actually gave herself credit for, she was an outcast with only one close friend at school, but what if that close friend was also getting bullied?

Oh boy. I have some issues with this book. But I don't want to offend this author or hinder others from reading it. I considered just not writing a review, but for ppl who read romance and esp NA/YA, I feel like I owe you a review.
My first issue is mostly a pet peeve. This book takes place in America, but the author is most likely not American. This alone doesn't bother me, but the sayings and wordage just don't match the setting. Things like, "Mum, bloody, flouncing off, vest(for a shirt I'm guessing), and gone one(for time)" these are not things 18 year old Americans say. So as a reader I was very confused for awhile.
My second issue is that this book is very cheesy. I never connected to the emotions. I know nothing of their backgrounds except a sentence here or there. And mostly I was told what I was supposed to be feeling and not really shown. I couldn't for the life of me find a connection between these characters. I mean, they said they love each other and that they are each others worlds(over and over) but why? As a reader I need more info. Why does Mason like Erin? What is likable. Give me the gritty. The weird. The desperate. The feelings!! You cant just say it and automatically the reader believes it. Moving on...
The bullying aspect was written fine. But I could not understand how Monica(the Mom figure) didn't do anything more. She kept saying she "trusted" Erin to deal with it. I mean, HELLO!!! She came home with stitches. No self respecting mother would look the other way, no matter how much your teenager begged! Sorry. Too many kids commit suicide for less. Not happening with my kids. Anyway...
Other things like Mason calling Erin "poor girl" a few times and Erin saying "Erm" many times. It just read weird. I'm married to my high school sweet heart so I do understand the teenage love language. And these kids didn't have drama and fights and passion and all the ridiculous things that make it believable. There was also spelling and grammar errors, but maybe that's just because I was reading an ARC.
My last issue was the end with Monica. It was totally uncalled for and unbelievable! Erin Facetime'd her and just saw her and was only gone for a month or something. And the book ends so abruptly with that. There was no emotion. No look to the future. I dunno. I just wish I could have beta read for this author, maybe it would have helped. But who am I? Just a girl that's read hundreds of romances and I know what works and what doesn't. I hope this book sells thousands of copies! I hope ppl love it. I just couldn't stop rolling my eyes. I meant no offense with this review. I just wanted to be honest.

Bom...

Wow! This story is a heartbreaking depiction of teenage life and how they process and deal with some difficult situations. Parts of this story were really hard for me to read. It's so raw and real seeing these teens and all that they have to endure. There was a myriad of emotions that were prevalent in the story - anger, loss, guilt and remorse. As heartbreaking as it was, it was also a heartwarming romance between two beautiful souls.

"You are my world. My one. My forever and always. You are everything."

The story begins with Erin Michaels as she starts her senior year of high school at Rocky Falls. Day in and day out she is subjected to harsh bullying by the popular girl and her crew. It broke my heart time and time again seeing all that she had to endure, but she is strong and doesn't let it break her. It also helped that she had one close friend to turn to whenever she needed a pick me up.

"I want to show the world, the moon and the stars that you are mine and I am yours."

Then things begin to look up when the new guy, Mason Knight, is seated beside her in class. He talks to her and is nice to her; something that she is not used to. So when he asks her to tutor him she has no qualms about helping him out. The two of them quickly become friends and over time the relationship develops into so much more. He is her sanctuary from the storm that is her life, and I absolutely adored him. He is kind, thoughtful, protective and swoon-worthy. A knight in shining armor who showed her that she was beautiful, special and worthy of love. I could not get enough of the two of them.

"I want you to stretch your wings and fulfill your dreams, but I want you to make me your home."

The gorgeous cover and intriguing blurb are what drew me to this novel, but the story-line is what truly hooked me. It will tear out your heart and rip it in two, but in the end it's stitched back together again. All in all, this was a well written, emotional tale with some real gut-wrenching moments. It will definitely open your eyes to the harsh reality of the world today and what our teens are subjected to.

Why don't English authors write about England? I kept feeling that the author was not from the United States because the slang and vernacular was not right. We don't call concerts "gigs" as an example.

Still the bullying in a high school was the main focus and our girl, Erin really was a target. Author does a great job of showing how hard it is to be a target of bullying. The one who is bullied feels alone as the others are just glad to not be a target.

The horrible incident was handled well. I'm not sure what happened to Evan but the ending was HEA albeit a bit bittersweet for Erin.

When We Fall had me sucked in right from the get go. At page three I was already dying to read more.

This story is heartbreaking and will take you back to the times of being a teenager. It's real and raw painting us a picture of what some going through high school can face. It's not always pretty and sometimes you have to weather the storm and sometimes you break.

Erin goes through bullying in this story and my heart completely went out to her. At times I found myself so angry for her. Angry at those that were cruel. Angry at those that stood by and did nothing.

In walks Mason Knight, a true knight in shining armour. I loved him and it felt like he showed up at just the time when Erin needed him the most. What we get is a sweet friendship which turns into more. But along the way there are roadblocks from outside and within which will have you almost needing for it to go smoothly, hoping and praying that things would work out.

At one point in this story I was left reeling, completely reeling. It made me stop and think OH GAWD !!! WHY, Just WHY !!!! How this ends though is so sweet even though the heartbreak endured throughout the book will leave you speechless at times.

This book will make you pause and think, it will make you angry about things that are occurring in our real world today and hopefully it will make you want to stop and think in real life when you come across those situations yourself.

A heartbreaking yet heartwarming romance filled with the harsh realities of our world today that shows us how we can protect, support and help one another to become better.

ARC provided by the author to the Facebook group "Quirky Blind Date With A Book"

"I know a lot of people think he changed me, but the reality is, he just gave me the room and the courage to be who I've always been."

"You have to let me go, Erin. You know I always told you, butterflies are the beautiful souls taken too soon. Now, you'll get to see me become a butterfly all of my own."

This book is very emotional. It works with a lot of very sensitive but very important topics. I'm glad Sloane created such easy lovable characters which let you live and experience this all with them. Mostly this book made me sad, but at the same time also happy, because you felt how deeply Erin is loved and cared for.

The reason why I couldn't give more stars is mostly that I've got one problem with this book: There is a part of the book where IMO the whole story development reached its peak and this came way too early. Everything after felt like a second book or a very long epilogue to me. I missed some content here and the end was pretty cheesy. Well, don't get me wrong, I like cheesy. But in case all conversation feels like endless love declarations without content, it's a little too much for me.

"When We Fall" is a very enjoyable and cute love story working with different sensitive topics which will surely touch your heart.

"You are my world. My one. My forever and always. You are everything."

"I want you to stretch your wings and fulfill your dreams, but I want you to make me your home."

To be honest I didn't feel a connection with the characters in this book, especially with Erin. I didn't understand how she could just brush something so sensitive and crucial under the rug and just keep going knowing full well what was going to continue happening and not do anything about it. I get it, it's not easy and sometimes your self-esteem isn't strong enough for you to be a strong person.

I know it's hard to deal with this issue and many kids don't deal well with it and end up doing something that later on everyone will feel and think how they couldn't help or why didn't he/she ask for help.

I felt like I wanted to jump into the book and shake some sense into this girl to stand up for herself or let Monica help her in dealing with the bullies in school. Sometimes these kids need a little shaking in order to do the right thing and I don't care how bad asses these dumb little shits think they are, they are no one to be bullying others. In this case, I'm glad that Tegan, got what she deserved and it taught her a good life lesson.

I wasn't particularly drawn to the first half of the book but I continued on because I wanted to know what was going to happen, if Erin finally grew a back bone or if she continued letting these fools run her life. I was happy with how the second half erupted and how Mason just swooped in and became her knight in shining armour because she needed that.

Mason came to this little town to straighten his life since he was involved with some bad people before and needed to get himself together for his grandma and his younger brother. I loved how he would stand up for Erin and how he won her trust and he was what caused her to boost her confidence in herself.

So, I commend the author for doing a well job on the 2nd half of the book. I just wish there was a little more to the story as everything felt like it was just put together too quickly. I felt like stuff was missing in this story, but overall it wasn't a bad book.

This doesn't mean that I won't pick up another book by this author. Just because you didn't connect with one book doesn't mean you won't with the next one. I will most certainly continue reading from Olivia Rose, unless they all turn out to be duds, which I'm sure that won't be the case :)

What a story! This is exactly what I needed to jump back into reading. A really well told story that was just so good.

Erin is an awesome character. She’s in high school and getting so much agro from people in her year. She’s never deserved all the bullying yet it hasn’t stopped throughout the years.

Mason is sex on legs. Needing to turn his life around he finds himself moving house and moving school. This brings him to Erin and his whole life changes.

Erin feels ages dreaming when the new hot guy Mason wants to be her friend.

Can she trust him or will she get hurt again?

A well told story with relatable characters and a great storyline. I read half of this late last night and as soon as I got up this morning I finished it. So so good. Can’t wait to read more from this author in the future and of course this series.

I always like getting the chance to read something by an author who is new to me. In this case, I got the chance to read When We Fall by Sloane Murphy, whom I'd never read before, and I don't think this will be last Sloane Murphy book.

When We Fall is an emotional, coming of age story that follows Erin and Mason as they come together in high school, even in the face of bullying, betrayal and heartbreak. Erin tries to make the best of her situation being in the unfortunate line of vision of the vindictive "mean girl"-esque Teagan and her clique of friends. Though Teagan is dating Erin's so-called friend, Evan, he never steps in to stop the bullying and abuse. Everyone else around them is just trying to survive and remain unnoticed and invisible. In walks new boy Mason, who intervenes on Teagan's behalf more than once. And while he's almost too perfect at first, it becomes apparent that he is exactly who Erin needs in her life. He's a nice guy who is in her corner and who is a true friend to her when she needs it.

This story shows what happens when boundaries are pushed too far and the consequences of bullying. It's also about friendship, love and strengthening bonds. I really enjoyed When We Fall and I look forward to trying another Sloane Murphy novel.

**Note: I was provided with an ARC by the author, which I read and reviewed voluntarily.**

I think nearly everyone can relate to this story.
If not then you will get what others feel when they are bullied and can understand what their life can be like.
It took me a while to know what to write for this review because I still really cannot put into words how it made me feel.
Read this its amazing and really made me open my eyes on what young people can go through especially in school.
Well done to the author who tackled this subject sensitively and extremely well.

This is my first book by Sloane Murphy a.k.a Olivia Rose (the pen name she is writing under). What attracted me to When We Fall was first, the blurb and second, the cover, so keeping in mind the content of the burb I had a certain mindset regarding the story it somewhat lived up to it.

Erin Michaels was abandoned by her parents as a baby but despite that, she has had a good home life, with a guardian, Monica, who truly loves her. Her school life, on the other hand, is nothing but one torment after the other with the constant bullying and harassment and all she wants to do is finish her senior year as quickly and quietly as possible.

Mason Knight is the new boy in town starting his senior year and everyone in the new school is taken by the former bad boy until he is partnered up with Erin. Mason is drawn to Erin from the moment he sees her and they both quickly become fast friends.

Now, while I liked the initial beginning of the story, as it progressed I started to feel a disconnect between me and the story and its characters. I felt that it was too rushed and honestly, a tad lacking in a few areas.

I would love more depth in the characters, regardless of the fact that they were just high school students. I would have loved reading about Erin and Mason getting to know each other, the whole anticipation of meeting someone new and getting to know them and their quirks and what makes them tick. For me, Erin and Mason went from strangers to best friends to girlfriend-boyfriend way too quick.

Erin's bullying is another aspect. She never fought back and I understand her thought process and not wanting to feed them more of her time but when we finally did get a reaction from her and there was a stark contrast between Erin and the bullies and Erin and the bullies with Mason. There was a lack of build-up in emotion even when she wasn't letting them affect her.

Additionally, the jump from one scene to another wasn't quite smooth flowing and I had to go back a couple of times to get the timeline right.

Rose highlights the issue of gun violence that is very much prevalent and haunted American schools, and this particular part truly broke my heart. One minute everything was fine and the next minute shots were being fired and the lives of these teenagers were forever altered.

Overall, in my personal opinion, this story had lots of potential to flourish but it failed to hit the mark. Sorry, but this was not for me, but if you are interested please go ahead and read it and form your opinion.

Wow! This book was not exactly what I was expecting, but it ended up being much more. A story of young love, tragedy, bullying, and finding a path in life.

I have to say that I love the cover of this book, its beautiful. I also absolutely loved the quote at the beginning of the book. “To be nobody-but-yourself – in a world which is doing its best, night and day, to make you everybody else – means to fight the hardest battle which any human being can fight; and never stop fighting.” E. E. Cummings

Erin Michaels hasn’t had the easiest time growing up. Her start in life wasn’t the best, but she has a good home, and a loving guardian. Unfortunately, she’s the target of the mean girls in school and has been for years. She tries as hard as she can to be invisible, but her senior year seems to be the year the that she’ll be noticed the most.

Mason Knight, the new kid in school. He’s mysterious and hot, and the only open seat in class is right next to Erin. She is not thrilled that his presence next to her has drawn more attention to her, but she’ll end up happy with the attention he shows her this year.

This story had me getting very angry at the way that the mean girls ruled the school, and no one stood up to them. The story was a tough story, but it was done very well. The tragedy in the story was pulled from the headlines. I loved that Erin was able to show her kind heart and how Mason saw it from the beginning.

This story had the typical high school cliques and showed so many characteristics in the characters and how life can change so quickly for anyone. I loved Erin, Mason, Monica, and Gram. I look forward to more on these characters and to see where life takes them next.

I give this story a 5-star review and highly recommend it to readers who enjoy YA love. However, be warned that there is some tragedy in the book, and you’ll need the tissues close.

Wow!! What have I just read? This story was amazing. It was full of hurt, anger, torment, happiness, friendship and love. These characters were simply amazing. I connected with Erin on such a level I was bullied to a point I was so ill and I lost a lot of my hair due to the stress and anxiety of it. Erin for me is one of my favourite heroines to date due to her fight, strength and her ability to be kind even in the most torturous moments. I thank Olivia Rose for writing this wonderful character and show casing that high school can be hell on earth. Then there's Mason Knight WOW!! He is simply amazing. His love for Erin is truly awe inspiring, he would literally give her the world if he could. I honestly can't wait to read the next installment of the series and see what this incredible author has in store for these amazing characters.

Y'all... I just... This book restored my faith in humanity a little bit. I have 3 girls and my middle daughter will be heading to middle school soon and I worry for her. Mean girls are real and being victimized by Regina George can't always be laughed off in real life. So When We Fall truly hit home in a real and deep way for me. Now, let me take a second and tell you something else - Mason Knight is EVERYTHING. He alone is worth the price of admission, but this book was so much more than that. I can't wait to continue the series and exist in the world of Rocky Falls again. This was my first book by Olivia Rose but it won't be my last. This is the way to write a book with youthful characters in a real way that still appeals to a broader audience. Well done! 4 out of 5 wine glasses.

Erin micheals is someone some of us can relate to. Being bullied just because your not the popular kid ignored in class and in the halls by most of the school and when she is noticed its not for good reasons, but to torment her. Erin says she can deal with it though she only has 1 yr left of school right? Right then its off to collage and all will be different, well even the most carefully planned of plans dont wirk out.

Mason knight has just moved to the school his the drop dead gorgeous heart throb of a new kid from day one he has his sights set on the shy girl that sat in the corner of most of his classes and fortunately for him the only seat in all of thise classes are next to her.
Can he crack the shy shell of her?

Loved this story so much its a story with twists and turns and tackles hard hitting plots. Olivia Rose tells this perfectly this was my first book from this author who wrote this under another name previously.

Omg I have never related so much to characters as I did with the characters in this book. I'm ashamed to say I've done both , but Erin spoke to me shes just good inside and out and to see her struggle with what she should and shouldn't do and if she deserves happiness. Mason is an old soul do to his up bringing but it's what's made the kind soul he is, but there's still a back story there and I hope we find out and I hope we aren't done with this couple. Loved I cried, laughed and sighed and got pissed. Truly an emotional rollercoaster but I loved it. Cant wait for more

Gah! This book was SO close to 5 stars for me! Mature YA is my jam and this book was right up my alley!
I loved Mason and Erin. They’re great and the things they endure... it’s true and it’s real. I loved that about this book, that it didn’t hide the things that do go on, that do happen.
Where it fell down for me was it felt rushed. I’d love to see everything more fleshed out. I felt things turned too quickly or were kind of swept over when they should’ve been given the time and attention they deserve. There’s a lot of real in this book and it needs to be given time to breathe, to develop, not just mentioned almost like it was on a list of “must include for high school dramas”.
I also think Scottie needs to be a bigger character. She kind of disappears in the middle of the book.
Also, the constant use of “erm” was incredibly distracting. I know what it was intending to show, but I think it was overused.
So, really close to 5 stars for me, with a little polish and a bit more depth it could’ve been an absolute must-read for me, but it is definitely something you should give a go.

P.S the cover is beautiful, even if it does have shades of Erin Watt in it.

Erin is starting her last year in high school, but she is constantly being bullied so tries to keep to herself so nobody notices her. She was abandoned by her parents so doesn't trust people easily. She was adopted and her adoptive mother Monica has given her a nice life. Mason has his first day at the school and shows an interest in Erin, but she cant understand why he wants to know her and tries to push him away. Mason may be the new guy but the stands up for her against the bullies and he tries to show her not to let the bullies win, stand up against them and live her life how she wants to. But after years of bulling this is hard for Erin to do.
There are so many different emotions in this book, happiness, sadness, laughter and anger and you constantly feel drawn in the story. I was given an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review and I can say I would definitely recommend this book and hope there are more books to follow this one.

When We Fall by Olivia Rose is a book filled with immense heartache, tragedy, unexplainable loss and undying love. This book grabbed me from the first page and I just had to know what happened with Mason and Erin! Erin is in her senior year of high school where she tries to be invisible and counts down the time until she moves on to college and a new life. In walks Mason, the new boy in town, and he changes everything for her in so many ways. The emotions the reader feels while reading this book are all over...from anger over what Erin deals with on a daily basis, empowerment when she stands up for what she knows in her heart, sadness for the tragedy she endures, and joy when she finally opens up to the love that Mason gives her unconditionally. I need more from this couple because that cannot be the end for them and I can’t wait to read the second book in this series!

When We Fall by Olivia Rose is book one in her Rocky Falls series. When We Fall is re-edited and republished, formerly by Sloane Murphy, now under pen name.

Erin Michaels is a girl in high school with a major crush on the boy next door. The boy with the meanest girlfriend at school and he himself isn't a prince either. But Erin is stubborn, til a new student shows up and teaches Erin what true friendship entails.

When We Fall is a heartwarming story, book one in a duet and their story continues in After We Fall. I can't wait.

As if navigating your way through high school isn't heard enough...being bullied constantly makes it a nightmare.

Erin started her life off harder than her peers. She's being raised by the woman that adopted her after she was abandoned by her parents. She's been given a good life. She's a senior and just wants to fly under the radar and head off to college to pursue her dream. However, there always has to be a group of jerks just determined to make someone else's life hard. Erin was tough, but their treatment of her was cruel.

Mason is the new guy in town. A reformed bad boy who is drawn to Erin from the start. He just wants to be her friend and get to know her. He has his work cut out for him, because Erin has been hurt so many times it's hard for her not to expect that he has an ulterior motive.

This story takes you through the high school experience. Bullies, unrequited love, loss, pain, fear and heartbreak. It was a story with the unexpected and you may just shed a tear or two. But the human spirit is resilient and strong. Mason and Erin formed an unbreakable bond. They became each other's strength and in the process they found forever love. I look forward to more in this series.

I love so many things about this read. Erin and Murphy are wonderful. There story delves into real social issues of our time such as bullying, mental illness, abandonment, violence and death. All these elements produced a variety of emotions. My momma bear came out at times and I wanted to see some justice (eek).

This book is well written, intriguing and interesting. I did question the swift resolution of a traumatic event that I am not sure would not haunt someone the rest of their life. I know it is a novel and maybe I should embrace the romanticism and imaginary aspects (haha).

The end of this story was considerate and didn’t leave me with too many questions. I look forward to future books from this author and anything else she has to tell me about Erin and Murphy’s story (wink). Happy Reading!

This book was kind of boring, I finished it because it wasn't very long.
Erin liked her neighbor but he NEVER acknowledged her in school and never defended her from other people, especially from his girlfriend who was one of the meanest people.
Things begin to change when Mason arrives at school. He was so sweet to Erin, defending her, treating her well and finally she's having someone at her side.
