YOU GUYS! Just go buy this book…and the first, right now! Go on, I’ll wait. You don’t want to miss out on this series. I read this second book as a standalone, and I’m getting the first book when I’m finished writing this review. Then I’m re-reading this when I’m finished. It’s that good.

Alright, I’ll actually review the book. But promise me you’ll go get your copy after you read this!

This world building is incredible. The post-apocalyptic style is absolutely terrifying and mesmerizing. I could visualize where the characters were and I could feel my heart pumping while they were in precarious situations.

Speaking of characters, these are fantastically written. It’s book two and there is still so much character development. I love the main character. Bad ass female leads are always my favorite.

I love everything about this. It’s action packed, amazing writing, awesome characters…in is everything I look for in a novel. I highly suggest picking up this series!

I am posting a small spoiler free review of a book I was lucky enough to get ahead of release (it comes out 28th Feb).

The book is Kill or Cure: Bloodlust & is the second book in the Kill or Cure serious by Pixie Britton so if you have not heard of the series or have but have not read the first one, get on it straight away.

Bloodlust picks up right where the first book left the gang and continues to follow Alyx our main protagonist as she continues to battle “the infected”, but now also military despots, gangsters and male affection.

The book goes at a good pace and balances balls out action with character & story development all set against a world decimated by an infection that turns people in to ravenous zombies (sounds good I hear you say) and as such has uninfected people residing in dystopian, walled cities.

If your a fan of zombie fiction with a bit of sci-fi, romance and some laughs thrown in for good measure I strongly recommend you check out the Kill or Cure series.

After reading book one in the series, read my review HERE, I could not wait to just jump right into this one! I adore all the characters and the story line itself. This is a post apocalyptic zombie read….but…the story is not all about a group trying to evade the evil dead. There is so much more going on here and although they do encounter the brain eaters, it is few and far between.

There was so much more action in this installment. It was literally non. stop. Every time you thought the group was going to get a break, think again because lurking behind every corner was something or someone trying to stop them for their own personal gain.

I very much admired Alyx in this book and loved the way she had grown from a young girl into a young woman whom is looked at as a leader. She really took control and realized that she is stronger as a person than she ever thought could be possible. I also had a huge fondness of Winter and I would LOVE a novella from her POV from before she met the group. She is definitely a kick ass female that often gets over looked because she seems so shy and timid. She is not either of those things and has surprised some of our much hated villians in the most amusing ways.

With the group trying to race the clock to save Tommy, I am so nervous as to what will come next. I cannot wait for the next installment and will jump on it straight away as soon as it is in my hot little hands!

Thank you to author, Pixie Britton, for the review copy in exchange of my honest review.

Great characters, including a fantastic female protagonist!

Gotta love a good series where the lead character is a layered young woman, who is smart as she is brave, and is as bad-ass as they come!

In this second thrilling installment of the Kill of Cure series, Alyx is desperately trying to get her brother the help he needs. As his bloodlust and craving for human flesh starts to takeover, Alex, along with her motley crew of friends, take a risky journey to Alhena in order to find the one person who can help them.

I am loving these books guys! This one especially! There is so much action, and everyone has to step out of their roles in order to achieve their mission, which is fantastic because as far as I’m concerned, good characters need to evolve, in order for a series to thrive. Trust me, there are no stagnant characters here. Even Winter (love her so much!), is starting to develop new traits and skills. Of course, Tommy is trying to hold onto his humanity for as long as he can, but his physical evolution is very frightning.

Great writing, tons of action, amazing characters, all set in a terrifying post-apocalyptic world, where the undead aren’t even the most dangerous thing to watch out for. What more can you ask for?

Thank you, Pixie, for giving me a copy of Kill or Cure Bloodlust for free in exchange for an honest review. Possible Spoilers

Like its predecessor this it isn't your stereotypical run of the mill, zombie apocalypse novel, I thoroughly enjoy the way Pixie takes the zombie genre and gives it her own unique twist. It does have zombies but it is also loaded with, Family bonding and their willing to overcome any obstacle that may come in between them. The dynamic between three of the main characters creates a well-developed and complex love triangle. Again, this book isn’t just about survival but how to keep your family together in the disastrous consequences of the apocalypse.

I fell in love with Kill or Cure and couldn't wait to read the second book and the wait was worth it. Bloodlust picks up right where the first book left off and continues to follow Alyx as she continues to battle the infected. But now we have a couple of added bonuses of military tyrants and good old-fashioned gangsters.

I love Alyx’s character growth she’s still kickass but even more so as she has to protect her brother Tommy and with Pixies writing you’re right there with them. The virus hasn’t consumed Tommy…yet. However, the “delightful” General Sinter is determined to capture him for his own malevolent schemes. My emotions were everywhere I wanted to protect Tommy and I want to punch other characters.

The book pulls you into a new world and once you are there it’s hard to leave. If it wasn’t for the 6 nations rugby, I would have finished this book in one sitting. I adore Pixie’s books because they are so effortless to read as they are well developed and easy to picture. I really don’t know how Pixie does it but the balance between the character and story development is delightful and a joy to read.

I don’t think I can recommend this series enough and if you haven’t read the first one please check it out. The series is worth a read just to get a new take on the Zombie genre or if you’re a fan of zombies with some comedy thrown in for good measure.

The group is on the way to Alhena to try to find a cure for Tommy. But the path to Alhena is full of infected and General Sinter is still out there after Ally and Tommy. And even if they can get to Alhena it doesn’t mean that they could get in or if the person they are looking for could even help them.

There is so much stacked against them but the group still keeps fighting. I loved seeing how everyone has grown since the first book. I loved little Winter, she is so cute and so much more than the little mouse she comes across as. Of course you will have the love triangle but it has matured as well and not as awkward.

I really like where this series is going and can’t wait for the last book. It’s a fresh look at zombies and in Kill or Cure Bloodlust the group is on constant fight or flight mode. There is no room for a breath of fresh air. And even though they are fighting the infected and Sinter, I loved how the family was there for each other.

This is a great series and one that I recommend to those that like a good zombie and dystopian story. It’s one you really need to check out.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. I voluntarily chose to read and post an honest review.

"The Tommy lying next to me is so far from the young and carefree boy in my dreams; in reality, he is somewhere between human and Infected. When I look at him now, it’s easy to forget that he’s barely twelve years old. The virus has aged him beyond his years and the grief has extinguished the light from his eyes. It kills me to see him this way and only adds to my insufferable self-loathing."

I chose to read book 2 in the series because it reminded me of The Passage by Justin Cronin. However, I recommend reading book 1 first because there were vague references to previous events in the first book as well as it took a while to get a sense of who the characters were.

With that being said, the story is well written and full of lots of action and adventure. The characters are very interesting and there is a love triangle in the middle of trying to save Ally’s brother Tommy who was scratched by one of the Infected and may be part of the cure.

I loved the storyline and I look forward to reading the next in the series because it was left as a cliffhanger. Highly recommend!

Thank you to Pixie Britton and R & R Book Tours for giving me the opportunity to review this book with no expectations of a positive review given.

I loved this second instalment in the trilogy! More character development and more action - so good! Another quick read because it’s just so unputdownable! Every page is a page turner and I found myself desperate to keep my eyes open each night to find out what happens next. We’re introduced to some great new characters this time around, as well as getting to know those we’d met in book 1 a little better. Chomping at the bit for the third and final book to see how this story pans out, and for this to be made into a film. I mean, this story is made for the big screen!

You'll want to read book one to get the full effect of this book. Alyx has grown up since book one, and there are things other than the walking dead she needs to worry about. The military and rogue gangs now challenge her and those around her. But Alyx stays true to herself through it all, and you won't be able to put this book down!

Throughly enjoyed this sequel. It is easy enough to read as a stand alone book but likewise keeps you interested with the characters you grew to love (and hate) from the first book. New characters are added (like the fabulous Benne) and the story is gripping towards the end.
Highly recommended

The second book had me gripped just like the first one. I feel like I really got to know the characters both new and old in this book. Sometimes I find books go on a bit and I skip a couple of sentences, this didn’t happen with this one, I read every single word. A really different angle to the last one and it worked so well. I found myself not wanting the book to end and I already can’t wait to read the next.

If you thought the first book was great, just wait until you read this one.
The dynamic between three of the main characters creates a well detailed and complex love triangle. Not usually a fan but Pixie makes it work.
The journey through the desert and back streets to Alhena really provides an epic dystopian landscape.
The introduction of some great characters that really add balance to the group along with a big bad to rival Sinter.
A cage fight is one of my favorite scenes in the book.
I look forward to reading the third installment.

Being a big fan of sci-fi and post-apocalyptic scenarios I was a big fan of this book. The book follows the prequel very nice in the beginning and you as a reader get to follow the perspective of Alyx, who's brother is having some strange effects due to a bite.

The book takes the group from the first books adventure further, as a reader I definetly got the feeling of chasing as the "bad guys" might not be far behind at all and being one step ahead is really challenging for the group due to all possible causes you might espect in the post-apocalyptic world.

The book has all kinds of elements and interesting people that you come across. There is a lot of action, charachter development and some romance aswell, all in one lovely mixture.

And with such an amazing ending.....I myself can't wait to get my hands on the next book in the series. Pixie Britton has done an amazing job with this series and from reading both books it is clear she likes the following theme, but also putting a new twist on it aswell.

We continue the story of Alyx and Tommy in the Kill or Cure series with book 2, Bloodlust.

The group are now on the run once more, after escaping Panama and General Sinter. With Tommy’s condition deteriorating they race to Alhena in a bid to find Mia Rose, but unknown to them General Sinter lies in wait with sinister plans in mind for Tommy. Will they find the help that they seek, or will the General catch them first?

There’s one thing in particular about Bloodlust which confuses me, in Kill or Cure Winter is described as being a six year old kid and since Paradise is a Club, I’m confused as to why they took Winter with them to meet Tyron. Suzie explains their need to remain under the radar, without drawing undue attention to themselves. But surely taking a young kid to a Club, especially when General Sinter would have made it known that the gang were travelling with a young one-of-a-kind kid, would surely be a bad idea? Would it not have been better to leave Winter with Suzie and Tommy, to help them remain inconspicuous?

Also, considering we’re in the middle of the zombie apocalypse, how did word spread so fast throughout the walled communities and shanty towns about Alyx and Tommy? Tyron claims their faces are plastered all over town? Surely this suggests that General Sinter is one step ahead of them, and has quickly made his way to Alhena to trap them? However, if Sinter had contact with Alhena direct from Panama, wouldn’t he either keep it quiet from those in Halo, or offer a reward for their capture instead, prompting Tyron to ensure Alyx gains access to Alhena and placing Tommy straight into Sinter’s hands? Maybe I’m missing something here, or looking into the story too deeply.

Otherwise, I’ve genuinely enjoyed the series so far, but would have expected a much more detailed analysis of Tommy’s condition, especially as the book doesn’t really do justice to its title. For a novel called ‘Bloodlust’ there’s very little discussion over Tommy’s lust for blood, with the story focusing simply on his ravenous hunger.

As mentioned in my previous review, the Kill or Cure series has an interesting dystopian world and we get to see a lot more of this in book 2, with the journey to Halo and Alhena. Living conditions in these towns appear to be realistic, but maybe have too much emphasis on modern conveniences like giant outdoor TVs for advertising and public announcements, or internet, which I’m assuming is how Sinter communicates between towns. While it makes sense for the military to still have internet or satellite communications, I’m still confused as to where the photographs and video footage of the group escaping Panama came from?

At 4 out of 5 stars, I’m thoroughly enjoying the Kill or Cure series, there’s a great story with a fast pace, which takes a different approach to the traditional zombie genre. Of course Bloodlust is not without its faults or issues, but is perfect for young teens who are just looking for a good dystopian read, who don’t mind reading about romance, love-triangles and typical teenage-angst. I tend to be overly critical sometimes when I find inconsistencies that confuse my logical brain, but don’t let this put you off an otherwise enjoyable series.

I received a complimentary copy of Bloodlust directly from the author, Pixie Britton and have voluntarily chosen to write this honest review.

Quick Review Update:
So, it turns out that my exhausted and stressed brain screwed up a bit, I made a mistake in thinking Winter was only 6 years old. I misunderstood the chapter where Winter was introduced, and confused Winter with the infected girl that attacked Alyx, stupidly thinking it was the same character. She’s actually a teenager, and everything makes a heck of a lot more sense now. Sorry Pixie, my bad.

What a second book by Pixie, The series keeps getting better.

Pixie introduces more lovable characters into this series already teaming with great characters. The detail and likeness of real people comes out in her writing and intertwines with beautifully with the storyline. The twists come thick and fast that its hard to put the book down once your reading the pages just keep on turning. Pixie is fast becoming my favourite author. People should give this series a read its amazing.

Kill or Cure #2: Bloodlust by Pixie Britton continues the adventures of Alyx, Will, Winter, Tommy, and Colt. Tommy has been suffering as he becomes less and less in control of when the infection takes over. Winter has been dragged along on this adventure but is becoming a valuable member of the team. And Alyx, Will, and Colt are stuck in a love triangle.

Why didn’t I mention any actual story aspects about those three characters? Well, because I don’t think they have any story aspects besides the love triangle. Literally all Alyx is thinking about is how much she loves Colt and how much she doesn’t want to admit that she knows that Will likes her. Will is just pining after her and trying to ignore Colt. And Colt, the greatest disappointment of all, is just pining after Alyx. He literally just met her less than a month or two ago and all he did was save her and kiss her and now he acts like a lovesick dog. Even Will wasn’t that bad, and he has been waiting for years to get his chance to be with Alyx. The whole book was ruined for me with this love triangle. Every time that the action would start up and I would be excited to figure out what would happen next, one of the characters would do something dumb for the sake of love and start acting like a lovesick dog again.

The two characters I liked the most were Tommy and Winter. Both have their own setbacks as Winter is deaf and Tommy has to deal with the infection. But, they don’t really have to deal with romance as much, and they both grow a lot in this novel. I won’t spoil anything, but I definitely liked them best.

Overall, I won’t be finishing this series. I also wouldn’t recommend it. But I do think that it could have been a really great series if it wasn’t for the annoying love triangle.

I received a copy of this book and this is my voluntary review.
