At last, a dystopia where the world-building actually makes sense.

If this doesn’t motivate you to be active, stay hydrated, get enough sleep, etc. then I have no idea what will. This series is incredible, a dystopia that makes sense, an emotional rollercoaster and it only gets better and better.

Another great volume. The cliffhanger at the end was not expecyted. Also, the transferring of blood cells was another surprise. Overall I'm really liking this manga it might just be one of my favorites.

RATING: 5/5
If you like Granulocyte transfusions, awful working conditions, and inspiring speeches made by your red blood cells then "Cells at Work! Code Black" volume 3 is for you.

QUICK REVIEW
This volume refreshes the series by adding new characters and a twist to the old body. I am quite excited that the red blood cell is becoming more confident and taking more inititive in the story. I would prefer if we had a chapter dedicated to the other characters POV just to shake things up a bit. The artwork is once again fantastic with each bacteria and new cell getting a new design and aesthetic. Definitely a must read for those who love the series.

ART
The art again is 5/5 still in the same vein as the previous volumes. I do like the new designs of some of the new characters. This volume really showed how uniform each character was in the previous volumes (which makes sense for cells in the same body). But the new character designs are a refreshing break and really distinguishes the old vs new characters. I also like the design of the new white blood cell and hope that we can get a chapter through the eyes of the white blood cells.

STORY
If you have read the previous volumes you are in for more biology! I was curious where the story was going as the previous volume ended with the body improving. Did not see the twist coming and we find our favourite cells in a new but darker situation. The series still amazes me on how they can turn something like kidney stones into an exciting adventure that I am intrigued to read about. I also enjoy the journey we're on with our red blood cell who is slowly developing himself to be a leader in his own right. I can't wait to read more and see where the story leads us.

Artnya kyk beda sama 2 vol sebelumnya, agak berantakan tp ceritanya lumayan sih. Leukosit kehilangan teman sesamanya yg jatuh ke lambung dan terkena asam lambung juga peristiwa penyakit asam urat yg dikiranya serangan bakteri ternyata konsumsi berlebih protein nabati.

Kaget juga sih ternyata eritrosit dan leukosit berpindah tubuh karena proses donor yg tdnya tubuh awal udah mulai stabil stlh kena serangan jantung, skrg malah ke tubuh yg sptnya udah tua dan terkena penyakit diabetes.

Kudu byk sabar ini mah, perjalanan masih sangat panjang.

What a twist! Things were already bad in the first two volumes and just as the body was on the mend, our protagonists find themselves...in another body! I'm not sure why our original body was a candidate to provide a blood transfusion or donation, but here we are and things are terrible once more. And I suppose that's the focus of the title - we need to continue to explore these more troubling health conditions and such.

As a biology major who took cellular biology and physiology, I absolutely love these series. True, the mangaka has to take certain liberties with the inner workings of the body, but they are just so clever and enjoyable to read, even if this particular series is filled with almost nothing but hardship for the adorable protagonist and his friends.

It's been interesting to read this series and not only learn and feel a bit more grateful for the work our bodies do for us, but also, specifically with this volume, to see how the story is able to be pushed forward. This features a new sort of adventure, that keeps things fresh and diverting.

2020 Read #232

This series continues to be dystopic — and it gets even more complex as it brings in a metaphor for immigration and how newcomers are treated in settings that are not native to them. It’s very interesting!!

I wondered how the series was going to keep interesting after the body was scared straight, but our favorite cells getting transfused to another body was a twist! I liked being an outsider in a new body.

Content notes: adult themes, not suitable for school libraries

The third book in the series covers a host of new ways the body can mistreat it's cells, it's an interesting series.

This is the craziest series that I've ever read. It's a blend of health education, drama, action, and humor. I'm jumping straight into the next volume.

Continues the series with the same dark, engrossing tone, knowledge on new struggles an unhealthy body deals with, and somehow giving humanity to characters based on our own cells.

After a heart attack nearly ended the world, the body our cells inhabit is getting better! ...sorta. It's making some better choices so conditions have improved but it's not exactly healthy yet. (Remember, healthy doesn't happen overnight)

So, everything's good... right? No! If nothing bad happens, this story will be boring. So what do we do? Blood transfusion! Yep, our protagonists get injected into another body and it too, is in Code Black!

Points to the writers for keeping the "fast-paced drama inside a stressed body" going.

This series has 8 volumes.
