On the run from the Coven she used to call home, Harley Merlin knows that Katherine’s power and influence are spreading like a poison. And she has no doubt that Katherine will follow through with her promise to torture and kill her friends, one by one.
Then Harley discovers that the key to her enemy’s undoing might be hiding in a familiar place—her parents’ Grimoire. With Finch, Wade, and Garrett by her side, Harley vows to steal Hester and Hiram’s final gift.
Liar. Rebel. Jailbreaker. Why not add “thief” to the list?
Meanwhile, Jacob senses trouble brewing in the San Diego Coven, with their friends imprisoned and Levi’s thirst for power spiraling out of control. Amid the chaos, the magical detector is on the verge of completion and Jacob meets a human girl who makes his heart race. But Katherine has plans for him. Oh yes, does she have plans…

Another book in the Harley Merlin series. We’re getting closer to the end. Harley doesn’t have any direct contact with Katherine, but some other characters do. We find a traitor amongst Harley’s tribe and Harley gets her hands on her parents grimoire. This pretty much sums up the book. It wasn’t nearly the best book in the series. I’m looking forward to the final book in the series. It feels like this has been dragging on for too long. Happy reading y’all.
As this series (finally) starts to hopefully end, I find I'm less excited to read it. At this point, it's kind of dragging on for me. Definitely not at all like Harry Potter where you can't get enough. I'm tired of the characters and their inner monologues. I'm tempted to skip the 8th one and just read the 9th to know what happens, because I honestly don't think I'll be missing out on much.
I recommend waiting until book 8 comes out which is supposed to be the grand finale. We shall see. This book was my least favorite because of the predictable storyline. None of the books have any real good news or wins for the good guys except for fledgling romances between characters. In EVERY book they are all still trying to get the same things accomplished or worked out, in my opinion. So it just drags on unnecessarily. The characters are basically just shuffled around and the plot doesn't really change. Maybe the story should've been kept down to one book? I don't know. I am glad I got through Kindle unlimited rather than a purchase. It could have been put together as a final story better and the cliffhangers are just annoying.
These books could be so much better. The plot itself has so much potential, but I feel like it is being dragged out. The dialogue is way too much and I feel myself zoning out due to the over-explaining of feelings and situations. I feel as though the plot is becoming predictable, I knew Suri would betray them and Katherine would end up with the detector. I admit I was surprised that Katherine IS Imogene, but this seems to create more plot holes rather than create an exciting twist. For example, Imogene told Harley about the retreat so she must have known Harley was up to something, yet Katherine didn't work out that they had infiltrated the cult until Finch slipped up about the Gemini device. Hmmmm. I want to like these books so much, but once I've started picking up on these niggly bits I can't get them out of my head.

I look forward to each new Harley Merlin book with a mixture of excitement & no small amount of worry regarding our characters potential fates. Number 7 has kept me reading through the night & left me desperate to find out what happens in the next installment.
While worrying about their loved ones & friends, our heroes continue to fight the good fight amid secrets, opposition & a great evil who seems able to predict their every move. Harley & co could really use a break about now.
I didn’t see that impostor coming.. oh man what a rollercoaster.
Honestly I’m so blown away from this series. I was super worried about how many books I had to actually get through thinking that I might actually loose interest, but I actually got sucked into the story even more 🙈
I know the ending was supposed to be this big reveal, but I've been waiting for Imogene to reveal herself as Katherine since book 1. So it was a little expected. Also you could tell the girl wasn't really into Jacob. Speaking of... his POV has to be my least favorite. I didn't use to not like him, but he kind of does stupid things and it annoys me.
I am left with no words with this book, Bella did it again and this time she really touched deep, it was completely unexpected and heart breaking. I can’t wait for the next book to come out and put at end to this evil b****! Ugh excuse my language but this villain is something else and i know my girl Harley got this!
Another great book in the series, can’t wait for next book. Once again we follow Harley and the rag team as they continue to battle to save the magical community from her Katherine Shipton. I read this book in less than 24 hours. I need to learn to put my books down. If you haven’t read any of this series you need to start at the beginning in order to understand everything that’s going on.
All this time katherine fool everybody she been imogene all this time And of course Harley can't tell because Katherine aka imogene wearing the Bracelet. And poor Jacob I hope he wake up, he's been through a lot. Can't wait the next book 8

Wow it gets more intense with Harley. I can't believe Imogene is actually Katherine all along. I am sad that Isadora died but can't believe Suri was working for Katherine. I hope she will get her payback.
I absolutely love this series, its a cross between Harry Potter and The mortal Instruments and is absolutely fabulous. I only have one complaint and that is it needs to be picked up by a major publisher to I can sell it to my customers at the bookstore where I work.

this series is getting too drawn out, almost nothing happened in this book and it spanned over 360 pages. also jacob’s point of view was the worst one yet, i basically skimmed every one of his chapters.
After being disappointed with the last in this series, I was pleased with this one. The pacing and story were much better. Not nearly as much redundancy and leaves you anxious for the next. Best one so far in the series.
I found this one slow paced at first maybe because I had a little trouble getting into Jacobs point of view and I had loved Finch’s in the last book. It definitely picks up about half way through though and I found I couldn’t put it down the nearer to the end I got. I was not expecting a lot of the stuff at the end with Imogene and Suri and I really liked that I was surprised because I’d been guessing the whole time about different things but all the stuff with Wade had me going in a different direction at first. All in all good book, can’t wait to read the next one, but didn’t think Jacob’s point of view was as compelling as some of the other characters in the past— not that it wasn’t done well because it was believable but he’s younger than the others and the focus seemed to be on different priorities than some of the other characters and I wasn’t as interested in them.
So I finally figured out what it was about this Harley Merlin series that bothered me. There is so many "I gasped.", "I gaped." "My mouth fell open. My jaw fell open" " My eyes flew wide ." " My eyes went wide." " My heart this my heart that. " By the end of the book I was envisioning Harley walking around wide eye and mouth open. Way to much tell not enough showing. I skipped Jacob chapters completely. I just couldn't. And honestly I didn't care much for him. Finch is my saving grace. I absolutely love his character. The redemption in him. Him and Harley forming that sibling relationship. His protectiveness of the only family he has left. Three stars just because Finch. And because honestly. This book was boring at most parts . I do enjoy the world. Enjoy most characters. I want to see how everything ends.

Jacob, a teenaged magical, recently taken in by Harley's foster family now lives in the San Diego coven. To protect all of them, it was necessary to wipe the Smith's knowledge of Jacob out of the family's minds. Now Jacob is working with the new doctor at the coven to develop a magical detector that will make magicals and their abilities easier to define.
Other things at the coven are not as good. Most of Harley's friends and the coven director are confined to cells there. Harley and Finch were able to escape capture and now are trying to vindicate themselves and their friends. Since Katherine has promised to kill all of Harley's loved ones, they need to work fast! All the while Katherine keeps getting closer to her goal.
I love the way that her books shows her perspective for the first book, then each subsequent book spilts the books into hers and another’s characters. And each time you’re like, I wished they’d stop flipping back and forth. But then you see why she does it, and it’s like, damn these books are thought out well, written well, and seem to keep on coming. I’m addicted. I’ve finished 4 books in about 6 days. (I do have a life!) I’ve read her books before, and lost interest after several books, but I don’t see that happening in this regard. She could write 20 and I’d keep coming back.
