Sally Prescott dreamed of a better life. A life not forced upon her, but a life SHE chose for herself.
Through the tragic death of Johnny Kendicott’s mother, Sally may be able to live out her dream.
With the arrival of mail-order bride Sally Prescott, the Kendicott Brothers find their lives turning upside down. It’s not just that brother Johnny’s adorable bride wasn’t entirely honest when she answered his advertisement. She arrives in town ready to marry, but there’s one problem: her family has promised her to another man, and at not-quite-eighteen years old, she can’t marry Johnny until she’s old enough to speak for herself. But how to hide a bride in a town where the local strongman is a sworn enemy of the Kendicotts? As if that weren’t enough, eldest brother Daniel is intrigued by the mysterious widow, Abigail Howe, whose secrets include a young son who’s never seen outside the house. Brothers Lewis and Joseph aren’t sure what to make of all the changes that are transforming their bachelor home. Nothing is ever simple when the Kendicotts are involved, but when wild hearts fall in love, there’s no holding back.
A story that will steal your heart! Being forced by her uncle to marry an older man, Sally decided to become a mail order bride and run away. She arrives to marry Johnny Kendicott but she had omitted one fact. She would not be 18 for two weeks and could not agree without her family’s consent until she reached that age! What to do? She knew her uncle would come after her and her only choice was to hide. Would she make it and become a wife? A lot happening with the Kendicotts and the town. Loved this sweet tale that had me cheering on the characters and hoping for a happy ending. Cannot wait to read more!!
I enjoyed Sally & Johnny's story. It was a very intriguing book. Good book. Am voluntarily leaving an honest review for a copy of the book via booksprout.
Sally arrives as a mail order bride and throws the life’s of the Kendicott brothers into chaos. Johnny’s bride to be isn’t really all that forth coming with information. Sally has come out to marry Johnny but she had been promised to another, that she has no intention of marrying. Since Sally isn’t of age she isn’t allowed to make that choice, but can there small little town hide her until she comes of age and marries who chooses or will the law man that has something against the Kendicott boys find her first. Such a good read keeps you on the edge of your seat.

Sally, a young Morman girl, ran away from home to become a mail order bride because her uncle had arranged for her to marry an older man who had four wives. She was due to be married on her eighteenth birthday. She arrived about two weeks before that birthday when she could be legally wed. She had to be hidden away until she could be married. Her uncle and the man he had arranged to marry her, waited until the day of her birthday, then left town. The following day she married Johnny the man she came to town to marry.
I've never read a love story from a third person. This story is written from the eldest son's point of view. As far as Sally or Johnny is concerned, I'm not sure I really know anything about them or have some connection to them. Johnny, I have some because the author would slip into Johnny's point of view two or three times, but I still left with a mystery of who Sally really is.
What a fun story of a runaway finding true love. The only
Enjoyed the story and could see the characters coming to life. It was a book I couldn't put down. Also the beginning of women and young ladies having a day in their future.
