The cat and the tiger are best friends. Every day, the cat enters the zoo and visits the tiger’s cage. They talk about everything, but when the cat confesses that he’d like to be big and strong like the tiger, he’s shocked to learn that the tiger envies him for being free to go wherever he wants. The tiger has a plan to escape from the zoo and find his real home—all he needs is some help from his best friend. Animal lovers of all ages will fall in love with this fanciful story about friendship and freedom.
What? Wow, this was a strange book. Great beginning but the ending- it just came out of nowhere.
A cat and tiger were good friends. The tiger was held in a cage, at the zoo, whereas the cat was free to roam. The cat sometimes sat with the tiger inside his cage and they talked. The cat also talked to the tiger outside the cage. They were great friends. The cat felt sorry for the tiger because he wanted to be free like the cat, to go back home where he could roam freely.
One day, the tiger explained to the cat how he could help him become free again. The rest of the story well, I am not telling but I was not a fan. I thought the book was rushed. It had such a great story going and then, it came to an ending way too fast for me and I think some children will be confused.
I liked the illustrations. I liked how the books was progressing but then, it just came to an end with just a few pages. What? I’d give 4 for the beginning but a 1 for the ending. What???
Ah. A story that isn't morally tidy! And one in which the sky is bigger than everything. (I loved having to search to find the tiny cat.) I was truly struck the moment the cat lost one of his lives. Yes, I am uncomfortable that the zookeeper asks to keep his betrayal a secret. But this is one of these rare books in which the whole of it moves you beyond how you can explain the parts.
It's quietly anti-zoo, awkwardly pro-deception, and sweetly pro-intimacy.
Tiger and Cat are best friends, but Tiger is held captive in a cage in a zoo. Cat eventually frees Tiger with the assistance of a magically/conveniently understanding zookeeper. This picture book is poetically written and beautifully illustrated, but the story didn't quite hold together. While the themes of freedom and the power of friendship are present, the story isn't compelling enough to make the urgency of the themes really felt.
Themes: Zoo, Animals, Freedom, Friendship Age Range: 5-8
Although this is a warm and touching book about friendship.....do not release a Tiger from a zoo! What are we telling children? A friend will break the rules for you. A tiger can leave an urban area unscathed and return to the wild? Perhaps I am looking way to into this but I just think the message of friendship is overpowered by the act!
Beautiful and poignant but confusing. A tiger tells his friend that cat about his wish to be free (sad!) and somehow the zoo keeper figures it out and sets him free (???)) - could be imagination?
A cat and a tiger are best friends. They tell each other everything, and lately, the tiger has been mentioning its home more and more often. They make a plan to free the tiger, who eventually makes it back home.
A book about perspective, power and friendship. The storyline is a little confusing and children/ the teacher might have to read it a couple of times to understand the story. The illustrations are soft and a beautiful blue. It conveys the wonder of nature.
A tiger in a zoo and a cat who visits often are the best of friends and one must decide how far they are willing to go for friendship. Preschool and up
“Il sogno della tigre” è una storia di libertà riconquistata che fa riflettere bambini e adulti sulle condizioni terribili degli animali negli zoo, e allo stesso tempo è una bellissima storia di amicizia (tra animali diversi, umani e non) che insegna come a volte il regalo più grande che si possa fare a una persona amata è aiutarla a realizzare i suoi desideri, anche se farlo va a proprio svantaggio o ci fa correre dei rischi.
