Praying Through the Names of Jesus - An edifying tour through the bible, with the names of Jesus serving as checkpoints, capturing the many forms of His expression. There are 70 chapters that highlight a new name, followed by it's location in the bible - along with a short outline that can help guide you into integrating the info into your worship and prayer life. Some of the names I was happy to be reacquainted with, were: Dayspring - Luke 1:78 Shiloh - Gen 49:10 Rose of Sharon - Song 2:1 True Light - John 1:9 ...beautiful names for a beautiful Person. A 70 day pilgrimmage for me - and hopefully, a journey of discovery for you. Highly Recommended.
Tony Evans is an amazing pastor and teacher of the Word. In this book Tony has written about 70 different names for God. As someone who really values the meaning behind names, I found this book very insightful. I have done studies on the names of God before, but this book offered names I had not learned about prior. The structure of this book is quite literally prayers set up in the ACTS format (adoration, confession, thanksgiving, supplication). These could be great prayer journaling prompts.
My favorite part was actually at the very end of the book where he broke down every book of the Bible into what the main theme of God’s character was in it. I had never seen a list like that and was truly encouraged. My only issue with the book was that I wish it contained more background on the name and context apart from a verse to accompany it. I like having a deeper perspective as it helps enrich my ability to use some of those names in prayer.
Overall, this was a good read and would be beneficial for someone exploring God’s identity more. I received a copy of this book via Netgalley and the publisher for free in exchange of an honest review.

His prayers are written in the ACTS format (adoration, confession, thanksgiving, and supplication) which many people use.
Evans’ writing style is easy to read. He has done his research well, and it is easy to see he has a heart that loves the Lord. At the end of this he even examined every book of the Bible and listed points on God’s character in it. It is a very nice book and left me hungry for even more information.
I would recommend this for any Christian wanting to deepen their Walk. It would make a great small group choice. I rated it 5 out of 5 stars. A copy was provided by NetGalley but these are my own true words.
"Praying the Names of Jesus" by Tony Evans is a practical and personal devotional. The devotional progresses in alphabetical order. It starts out with a verses. In the next section it progresses to adoration and what that means with that name. The reader next confesses sin that goes with that name. After that there is thanksgiving for how Jesus is that name for us. The name ends with supplication. The reader asks for prayer needs that fit the name they are reading about. We can have a deeper and more connected relationship with Jesus by learning and applying the meaning of His names to our life. This devotional is well written and practical. Tony Evans doesn’t masterful job of presenting 70 different name for Jesus. Some of them are ones we expect like Good Shepherd, I Am, Lamb of God, Savior, and Messiah. Some of them were ones we normally do not think of such as Dayspring, Messenger of the Covenant, The Name No One Knows, and Son of the Blessed One. Each name is present it as a prayer divided into four sections: adoration, confession, Thanksgiving, and supplication. There’s a book to savor and read slowly.

Tony Evans' deep biblical insights, coupled with his warm and friendly writing style, make this book a must-read for anyone seeking a closer relationship with Jesus. This book goes through the names of Jesus and follows them with prayers of Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, and Supplication. I don’t usually care for pre-written prayers, but I felt the worshipful spirit in which they were written helped me focus more deeply on my Savior.
