The Darkness has taken Malem. The Breaker fights for Vorgon now.
But that doesn’t mean Malem is going to let anyone harm the five women he’s bound to. They give him the power to control monsters, after all. Besides, they’re super hot.
Vorgon doesn’t like the devotion Malem shows his women, so the evil demon decides to send him on a fool’s errand—-his mission is to infiltrate the kingdom of the Tree Elves and Break their queen. No easy task, given that she is surrounded by an army of bloodthirsty fighters and merciless mages, not to mention a crapload of monsters.
This errand might just backfire on Vorgon, however, because if Malem succeeds, he will grow in power far beyond anything the demon ever dreamed of...

Ok, so where to begin. It was Extremely difficult for me to get through the first book. I know that I'll never get back the Ten or so hours back that it took me to get through the first book, between the lack of plot and the so called Breaking the minds of People. But hey I was willing to give the second book a chance. I guess I should have just given up and left well enough alone as it took just as much time if not more to get through. Besides the same Shit just a different title, I HAVE ANOTHER MAJOR PROBLEM WITH COVER ARTISTS THAT DON'T READ THE BOOK TO KNOW WHAT IS WHAT AND AUTHOR'S THAT OK IT.
I hate this book. If I wanted to read an evil anti-woman hate book I would have picked one out. I loved the first book, became invested in the characters and then you turn the main character evil and have him torture, rape and disrespect the women he (and we) came to love?
I made it 10% and then skipped ahead to see if it was temporary... It was not.
You should have made this a new series and not perverted the current one so bad.
This book is pretty horrible. summary: Through two books You get to know and like the world and characters. Then in book 3 the main character and all other characters are possessed by an evil demon and are forced to kill everyone else you liked in the first two books willingly. It is a complete shit show, I can't imagine how anyone could ever enjoy any aspect of this book. It is painful to read, I only kept going to hope it wasn't pure shit all the way through, it turns out it is only terrible for 90% or so. There is almost no positive interactions between any of the characters at all. The main character is controlled by a damn demon for the entire book, it just sucks.
I get what the author tried to do here, but it simply didn't work. He wanted to give us enemies to fit into the plot, enemies which would allow the reader to cheer for the main characters, but it just failed at every turn. The main character is evil, and the whole time all I wanted was for him to be defeated. I just hope this was some sort of artistic adventure, and not what is to be expected from here on out with the series. This book and the story it tells is just bad, there isn't any way around it. The only thing that makes it slightly okay is the first two books, without those this would have quite literally 0 going for it.
I'm sure some people reading this were able to lose sight of the bigger picture enough to get behind the main characters, but I wasn't. The only thing I wanted was for Malem to get killed, and his "girls's to get free.
Adding to all this wonderfulness is the random scenes of over the top sex. It was close to the line in books one and two, but here it is just silly and not needed. I can only take so much of a main character who thinks he is God's gift to all women. He makes his voice a little deeper and all the panties within 50 feet get damp. It is just silly. I'm surprised anyone could walk on the floor without slipping around after he's done talking in his super-dooper manly voice. I can't tell if the author doesn't know what real women are, or if he thinks he is a gift to all women. It was something I could get over in books one and two, but when everything enjoyable is taken from the book it sticks out and gets really annoying.
I did make it through to the end thanks to a speed of over 220% when listening to the audio book. This was going to be a 1 star review for me, but since the ending wasn't horrible, and actually allowed for some form of small resolution I think it is a really solid 2 star book. If you listen to the audio speed it up and hopefully the next book will be better, or if you want to have a quick summary with spoilers read below and skip this book in the series.
*Spoilers below
Malem is evil, he treats all his "partners" like sex slaves. He kills a shit load of good dragons who were his friends and helps the evil demon take over the dragon city. He then breaks the tree elves queen and kills a shit load of her innocent people. He then gets a white stone thing he uses to cripple the evil demon and is back in league with the first demon who got killed in book two. It is too weak to effect him now, but it will come for him in a few years. He is now the leader of all the demon's army, end book.
Hard Book To Read This series is well enough written, but the plot has been dark, and has gotten a lot darker. Not sure if its my cup of tea as I tend to read for fun and escapism. I've always had some problems with the "hero" of this story basically having a magical ability to enslave, not just creatures but other people. And its exacerbated by what he does with some of them, including killing them and eating their soul.
In this step in the series, Malem, the protagonist, is the enslaved. Unfortunately he is enslaved by a horrific demon, and is forced to do many despicable things. And the goes on and on and on. The narrative tone moves around, sometimes he is aware of the bad things and wishes he wasn't doing them, much of the time he embraces the dark side, so to speak. Ugh.
Most of the other characters are interesting and charismatic, making it all the more painful to read about him doing horrible things to them.
Xaxia, Malem's only "friend" that he hasn't "broken", saves the day by figuring out a way for Malem to dump the new bossy demon in charge of his life, replacing him with the old demon he used to have to deal with. Malem picks up a few new metallic half-dragons, and the queen of the wood elves, along the way. She provides a magic pearl that summons a "opposite of demon but they didn't say angel" to oppose the demon messing with Malem, but when Malem is evil (most of the time) he has no interest in employing it to fight the demon bossing him around.
Was not bad. I basically devoured the book in about a day. With Malum now serving Vorgun it lets you see from the perspective of a Black Sword and gives you an idea to how strong of a control ol' V had over his slaves. Overall it wasn't too bad. I think my only issue was that there were a large number of spelling and grammar errors (most of the highlights), but that's really it. If you want more Malum then by all means continue reading.
I should've known better than to give any series by Isaac Hooke another chance. Here it is ladies and gentleman. The sudden time jump, which completely undoes the first two books and derails the plot out of nowhere for absolutely no good reason.
I have no idea why the author keeps pulling this shit but I'm honestly done with it.
The book was a hard one to read sometimes because of what happened at the end of book 2 but the author still made the book a good one even if the main character had something happen to him that other readers would hate but the main character can’t be perfect and have nothing happen to him thats just not life that a fairytale.
This was a good series. The main character was a class we haven't really seen. Initially, I liked how they were building on his power-base but after a while it got old. It felt like we were reading about him building his personal harem. It went so far, it began to turn me off wanting to finish the book. It is just about the only reason I gave the book a three.
I love this series so much.Don,t worry about the tamer trade mark bullshit. That punk ass author has been banned by amazon and is never coming back.Keepmup the excellent storytelling
Did you like the other 2 books you read? I’m sure you did or you wouldn’t be here looking to read this one. Given that and that it’s free for you to read on KU you can spend 2 minutes to give a review. 👍
Took me time to get into the first book but when it did I was hooked i looked forward to each next book. An unusual take on magic and human interaction. Hope there will be another
First off, trademark and patent trolls are the scum of the earth....
Second, this was an awesome series. I liked the plot. I liked the world. I liked the characters. There was nothing too groundbreaking concept wise but it was still all very entertaining.
Malem does all to please his master. However, cognitive dissonance arises if any of his women are threatened. I enjoyed the book and hope there will be more in this series.
Each book in the Monster Tamer series is better than the one before. If that's even possible. I'm so looking forward to book 4. Isaac Hooke thank you and keep cranking them out please.
I didn't like the end of the last book(dark cliffhanger) but I have enjoyed the three books as a series. I personally would like my protagonist to have it easy but then the story gets boring. Anyway I'm definitely looking forward to the next book
This book lives up to expectation and delivers action, monsters, fantasy and a great story line of the little guy triumphs over the big bad evil balor! I loved every paragraph and page!
One multidimensional monster down, one still connected to the hero of our tale. Great characters with realistic situations and lots of action and adventure. Have monster will travel. I look forward to more from this series 😁
Another good book to this series. More of a 3.5 star than a 4 but still pretty good and I am sure if you liked the first two you will enjoy this one even if it is a little darker. I will for sure continue with the series.
