Technically, there’s only one girl on this island that I’ve been told to stay away from. One. And she just showed up on my doorstep looking like a hooker at a ho parade. Why, you ask? Well, according to her, I’m the only one on Paradise Isle that can help her. The only. Fucking. One. Go figure. So what am I supposed to do? Turn her away and look like an asshole? This whole “being a good person thing” isn’t as easy as it’s cracked up to be. Bear with me, will you? I’m still learning the ropes. There is one thing I’ve learned in my attempts at turning over a new leaf, though. If I can help someone out of a tight spot, I should do it. Right? So now I’m determined to do just that and prove to everyone on this island that I’m a decent guy. Even if that means risking my own neck. That’s right—I’m back. And I’ve got a whopper of a story to tell you. Oh. And Al’s coming along for the ride. But don’t worry, I’ve got the wheel. (Mostly because he can’t see over it.) Hang on tight. Because Drunk’s Driving. More Caribbean flavored adventure. An octogenarian with a distaste for John Deere Green. And a hooker with an attitude. What could be more fun than that? Rated R for colorful language, crude humor, sexual innuendos, and the occasional non-PC remark. Rated A+ for entertainment value. **Oh, and one more thing. While I’m not one of those people who’ll tell you what to do with your life or anything, I will say, if you haven’t read Drunk on a Plane or Drunk on a Boat, you might wanna start there. You’d find this story a lot more entertaining if you did. That said, this story can stand on its own two feet if required to do so.
Despite it being the least funny of the Drunk books (so far) this is probably my favourite of Danny Drunk’s misadventures. The stakes were higher and there was more action. Even better, Danny really shows his human side in this one, which was really touching. I’d’ve given this 5 stars if it hadn’t been more than a little predictable in places. Great stuff!
So many laughs, giggles and almost a tear. An action loaded mystery in my most favourite series of the year. Drunk and the gang are making for a super fun read and I'm blaming them for my sore finger from swiping the pages at lightning speed. A great way to end my reading year...and an even better way to start the new year with "Drunk On the Job"
3rd entry in the "Drunk in Paradise" series. While it has it's chuckle moments, this one was the least humorous in the series thus far as it covers the very serious and dark world of child sex trafficking. There is also a lot more action in this one compared to the other and as a major feel good moment when Danny finally realizes his self worth./.
Another fun book in the Drunk in Paradise series! This time Drunk gets asked to investigate a missing teenage girl and like how things usually go with these books, a shit-show ensues. All the usual characters are here, including more of Daniel's retiree friends, and we get to meet new ones like Val the paid escort. As usual, this a fun read for the summer and I'll definitely be reading the next ones.
Every now and then I pick a book because I think the cover is cool. Sometimes that works and sometimes not so much. I am happy to report, this series matched the cool cover. I thoroughly enjoyed the books cover to cover. Drunk and So bad me laughing out loud. I can't wait to see what they get into next!
This is a hugely entertaining adventure/mystery/thriller series. Comical, fun & exciting, it's also got excellent plotting and pacing. There are plenty of twists and hilarity often ensues. Kudos to author Zane Mitchell as his characters are fully realized. Our hero is Danny Drunk, a snarky yet charming ex-cop who escaped to a Caribbean island resort after catching his cheating fiance screwing her ex-boyfriend the night before his wedding (read Book 1 for the details). Drunk is over that now, but seems to attract trouble wherever he goes, mostly from beautiful women (or in this particular caper, a beautiful underage girl), who need his help in solving a mystery. Drunk is joined by an endearing cast of characters that include: - Al, his 87 year old geriatric best friend and partner (audiobook narrator Christopher Boucher is AWESOME in this role) - Frankie, an island cop whom Drunk has a possibly budding romance - Artie, sweaty owner of the island resort where Drunk works as the Head of Security All in all, very likable characters, funny, entertaining and the perfect escape during this coronavirus mess. I cannot wait for the next book in this series!
This was another fantastic title in this series! As always, I was entertained with the dialog between Drunk and Al, had a hard time putting this one down, and now I am getting ready to read book 4 Drunk On The Job :) For fans of shows like Magnum P.I. , I highly recommend this series. The characters are fun and there's lot's of action.
Book #3 of the series, Drunk is back to help fight the baddies and, hopefully, win the heart of the local female cop in the process. This time, it's underage prostitution and island corruption ring. Okay, we have to accept this as being part of the character, but Drunk insists on being a wise-cracker, even when the circumstances are inappropriate eg. a gun to his head by a professional (not a thug) killer. It keeps putting me off the flow of the situation. At the same time, we are distracted by Drunk's affection for Frankie, the female cop. Drunk wants her badly and, as far as he is concerned, helping her in catching the culprits will give him the key to the gateway to her pants. To me, better than Book #2, which tried to create an emotional aspect to Drunk.
Drunk driving is like Drunk doing everything else: He's got a filthy vocabulary, a wandering eye for women's "assets" and a swaggering posture, but - and this is major - in this outing, Drunk has promised his octogenarian sidekick, Al, that he'll stop the serial fornicating and binge drinking that has marked his progress through the other books in the series. With more of his energies intact, thus, Drunk (unwittingly, it must be said) has enough on the ball to take on the biggest and baddest of the bad guys he's encountered yet: an underage prostitution ring and money-laundering conspiracy centered in the government of Paradise Isle itself. Along the way to accidental heroism, Drunk almost gets the girl this time, in the form of police Officer Francesca Cruz, but to say more would be telling. While the respect I accord Drunk is grudging, I do find him a heart-warming character, as I find all the others of the ensemble cast around him on Paradise. His actions may be predictable and sometimes silly, the outcome fairly assured to put him in the best light, but it's hard not to be won over to his side - especially not after three books' worth of convincing stories!
No fun in the sun with this one; it tackles a more serious subject matter as the plot revolves around sex trafficking, which is never a fun story. There's plenty of action, a conspiracy to unravel, and teenage girls to save. Danny finally comes of age and shows his caring side, while Al, as always, is the adult in the room trying to steer Danny in the right direction. And finally, love is in the air. It's an entertaining and well-woven plot with a decent pace.
Not only did enjoy reading 📚, but I'm hoping you continue this DRUNK series..it's funny and seriously great read....the entire characters were created in my mind so clearly that I was in Paradise myself. Please get busy and pub!ish more as I love reading.....Thanks again Mr Mitchell👍✨
This is the third book in the series and each one gets better than the last. I can't wait to get my hands on number 4, which I will do as soon as I'm finished here. These books are exciting and really fun to read. Crazy characters and laugh out moments. What more could a person want from a book.......?
I don't usually do reviews but this author is hysterical. I love all the characters! If you asked me who I want to know more about it would be little drunk!! My main thing to say is......make it a SERIES for tv or hbo! You could be more graphic on little drunk
I have really enjoyed the first 3 books in the 'Drunk' series. The characters are fun and generally believable, and the plots are well thought out. Danny Drunk, the main character, is a 'light version' of JD MacDonalds Travis McGee. A bit of a womanizer, he is also the humble hero of many women as well. This is a series that I would recommend reading in order.
Very fresh, fun , entertaining and easy to read non-stop 😄 I've seen a very good evolution on Drunk as the main character, and how the story is linking the rest of characters, their stories etc. Drink still keeps his fresh, always joking side, but now being more aware of his skills and responsibilities. For the moment the best in the series.
I had my thoughts on this series but reading all three have begun to feel that old Drunk and his cadre of assistants have a lot going for them looking forwArd to more of this series plus all of his other's...
Holy cow these books are great. Well written, not completely predictable. They leave you satisfied while leaving you wanting more at the same time. The characters are well developed with distinct personalities. I sincerely hope. There will be more to come.....
If your a fan of off beat characters like Travis McGee and Jack Reacher you will love the characters in this series from the 87 year old sidekick to the retired community of misfits. Set in an island paradise Daniel Drunk will keep you entertained.
Nearly as good as the first book in the series. This time around Drunk is asked for help by a new employee who has a friend missing. All of the same characters are a part of the story: Al, Mari, Francesca, Artie. This series definitely works best if you read the books in order.
Another enjoyable story. I'm liking Drunk more and more. I am enjoying his adventures and I like the fact that he is trying to improve. He has a good heart, but he has rough edges. On to the next book in the series!
Yep, I’m officially hooked. It’s fun and light and entertaining. I’ll stick with Zane and Drunk until it ain’t. I know at some point it’s going to start bogging down, as ALL long term series do, but I’m all in right now.
Drunk to the rescue? He’s asked to find a girl’s friend but the friend is found as a drowning victim. However, while trying to find her Drunk discovers more than he bargained for.
These stories are definitely adult in nature; some truly horrific things happen to people. Fortunately, the bad deeds are not chronicled in minute detail.
The overall tone of the series is growth and redemption, optimism for the future.
The Drunk "adventures" continue to delight !! Can't put down able, fun and relatable, these people are like my friends ! Of course our lives are MUCH LESS EXCITING ! Editing is very good too, hardly ever a misspelled word etc.
I love this series! Drunk is vulgar yet likeable! Sidekick, Al, is a real hoot! And all the characters are relatable. It's easy to read this series non-stop, cover-to-cover, back-to-back which I intend to do! Thank you, Zane Mitchell, for a great series! Looking forward to #4!
In true Zane Mitchell style this series just keeps getting better and better. Move over Janet Evanovich and Deborah Coonts...Stephanie Plum and Lucky O'Toole...make room for Danny Drunk!!!!
Well Zane keeps getting better. Drunk was doing good until a young girl goes missing. Between Drunk, Al and Frankie they get to work trying to find her. Good reading and waiting for more.
