Fans of Elizabeth Gilbert's BIG MAGIC and Jen Sincero's YOU ARE A BADASS will devour this new, personal take on how mindset separates the best from the rest.
Are you ready to start taking your writer life to the next level? Do you feel held back, but don’t know why?
Author and blogger Benét Stoen’s I AM WRITE is a short, easy to digest guide to identifying the five biggest ways writers, often unconsciously, sabotage their dreams with unhealthy mindsets and limiting beliefs about themselves, their work, and the world. With real-life examples and exercises to help implement your findings, I AM WRITE is the book by a writer, for writers, and may just answer every writer’s biggest question: Am I a writer?
Benét Stoen is a born and bred Minnesotan, a full-time bookworm, candle enthusiast, and spinner of emotional tales. When not writing she'll be found driving, but only because she hasn't yet figured out how to do both at the same time. Follow her on Instagram: @benetstoen
Benet Stoen's 'I Am Write' is an inspiring and helpful book on how to have faith in yourself as a writer and how to prepare yourself for success. In addition to providing helpful advice, Stoen's book was well-written and fast-paced. It was also highly relatable and I could tell just how important writing truly is to this wonderful author. I highly recommend 'I Am Write' to any writer seeking advice and inspiration.
I found *I AM WRITE* a very helpful book. The author, Benet Stoen, is fairly new to the writing world, but already has published two great books, this one, and *His and Mine.* This author is definitely one to keep you're eyes on. I recently started my journey to becoming an author, and this "comprehensive guide" really helped me take the next steps, (STEPS! Plural. It was that helpful.) to becoming a better author!
Every author/ wanna-be author, should definitely read this book, if they are looking to become the best writer they can possibly be!
#TO THE AUTHOR, BENET STOEN: Great job, and two huge thumbs (and toes,) up!!!
This is mostly about mindset/goal setting. Some good things noted, but it's a lot of advice that's already out there, and it reads more like a series of blog posts. The sections tell you more about the writer than about the actual topic, but it does put a personal spin on things.
I received an ARC of I Am Write in exchange for an honest review. This guide was super inspiring and revealed the ways in which writers get in their own way of reaching their goals and how to push through to succeed. I loved the practical exercises at the end of each chapter because people learn best by applying it to themselves. My only wish is that this guide was longer! I loved the content and only wanted to keep consuming more of it. If you're interested in a quick and easy way to unlock your writer potential, this guide is for you!
“We don’t reach for things that we don’t think are there.”
So happy to be reviewing another book of Benét’s! This one, I have to say, I enjoyed more than the last (which is saying a lot since I really enjoyed His And Mine) and I happened to read this at just the right time. As someone currently writing, this is a very helpful tool with small tips to help change your mindset, making yourself less of an obstacle in the way of your own success. I really enjoyed the conversational writing, which made it seem more like a motivational talk over coffee than someone droning on about how I need to change my way of thinking.
My only complaint would be the size of this book. It’s incredibly short, more of a pamphlet than anything, but the message was so good I could have read at least 50 more pages of it. There was also more things that could have been elaborated on, but overall the message was clear. I really did enjoy this and I will be trying a few of the exercises soon!
Thank you again to the author for allowing me to read an early copy of this book. I really do enjoy your writing, and I look forward to seeing what you do next!
This is such a short, little uplifting read. It’s very “conversational,” and I felt like I was getting a pep talk by a friend. To me, most things in life center around mindset. This book helps get you into the mindset of and prepare you for your life as a (successful!) author. There are exercises to implement after each tiny chapter, and at the end of the book, there are empty pages to write down any epiphanies or extra little notes you may have discovered. This book is about identifying, creating, and implementing habits of a successful author. My only qualm is that it isn’t longer!!
I picked up “I am Write” after following Benet Stoen on Instagram. Her writing, stories, and general sharing is intriguing, informative and super relatable. Needless to say, I found myself wanting to read everything she’s written! “I am Write” is concise and relatable, offering practical applications and rooting them in solid truths. Are you a writer? Do you aspire to write? Then this book is for you!
I Am Write helped me realize that my mindset is important about me being an author. Not only that, but a successful one. That's been my dream since I was in middle school.
Definitely check out this book out. I hope the author writes more books like this one.
