How 20-Somethings Find Love in New York:
1. Meet for tapas.
2. Pretend you care more about his day than your career circling the drain.
3. Stumble to your place. Kick him out before he trips on dirty laundry. (Literal or figurative.)

It’s easy. That’s how I like it.

Before you crown me the least romantic person in Manhattan, meet my competition.

Dr. Wesley Robinson.

Keen blue eyes and fell-out-of-bed hair. Unhealthy obsession with 80s movies. Drier than a gin martini. Drive that makes Tony Robbins look like a slacker.

Yep. The hot genius I’m helping sell his DNA dating app has a plan:

Scale the highest peak of Mount Nerd. Then ride off with his genetic Cinderella.

I shouldn't fall for him.

Even if Wes kisses like there’s something dirty under that pressed shirt.

Even if he opens me up like no man has.

Even if guarding my heart's getting harder each day.

Because New York isn’t Wes’s mountain. I’m not his princess...

And nothing this easy can last.

From USA Today bestselling author Piper Lawson comes a slow-burn, opposites-attract romance about a hot nerd falling for the girl he could never have - with a little help from science.

4 out of 5 stars!

"I don’t get why you think whatever’s in here can be fixed by another person, in a moment.”

My first Piper Lawson read and I believe one more push and I am off to read her entire book backlist!!! 🙌🧡

I loooved the hero in this story and how he completely nerds out with his geneticist skills. Nerd heroes are definitely my kink. Shame-free. This was such a feel good, make-you-tear-a-little kind of read with an opposites attract trope.

The characters in this story were very much distinct and impressively written. In the industry of countless romance authors with rephrased/reused/rebranded tropes, Piper Lawson will definitely give you something new! I recommend (especially y'all adorable dork-loving book junkies)!

PLOT

Dr. Wes Robinson
, 29 years old, has achieved a lot of prestigious awards with regards to his brainiac-self, producing impressive research studies around correlations between Cancer and the human genome, the human DNA.

With his research, he founded an idea to build an app that would match people base on their DNA and his collected data has been promising and is off to a great start.

He just needs someone to greatly market his idea and pitch it to someone who would be willing to fund him.

Now, we have Rena, to do that. As a marketing employee, she wants to boost herself to her boss by succeeding in helping Dr. Wes.

But not before this un-delightful misinterpretation by Rena, thinking a meeting with Dr. Wes was a date, which started good and ended with a kiss! If only Dr. Wes did not meant for it to be a business arrangement. The two decided to move past the slight mishap and agreed to work together.

In a stereotypical viewpoint, Dr. Wes was the nerd guy, and these type of guys doesn't really go with ladies such as Rena, who is drop dead gorgeous and would definitely have a line of jocks and popular guys on her heel. Where Rena is a quirk, Wes was serious. But, no matter how opposite they may seem, they definitely can't "science" the enormous fact that they get along pretty well. What if DNA-base they match? What if they do not? No matter the scientific analysis of whether they match or not, they can never resist how drawn to each other they are.

Romantic, slow pace, funny, hero and heroine that connect right at the first encounter, a story that just leaves you with a huge smile on your face. I love Piper Lawson books and with this one is no different. I enjoyed it a lot and I highly recommend it.

Wow!! This book was such a pleasant surprise. It's the first book I've read by Piper Lawson and it was really enjoyable! I absolutely loved the chemistry between Wes and Rena. They started out with her awkwardly thinking they were being set up on a blind date when he was meeting up with her for business help. Then they moved from a business relationship to friendship to ...well...other things. They each bring different hangups into their evolving relationship. Rena always used sex as an escape from her life and ran from relationships as her parents had never been good relationship role models. Wes, the scientist, connected emotionally with sex and couldn't help but look for a relationship even when he didn't know he was. In the past, his research had been his prime focus and he had never taken the time for a true relationship so this was all new to him. Oh, and can we discuss the hot science geek?! Who could blame Rena for wanting a piece of that?

They had such cute banter, especially when they were texting. I also thought it was sweet that their relationship basically sneaks up on both of them. They each realize they have feelings for the other (more than they want to admit) but they keep trying to ignore them and push it all aside. Eventually, they have to address their emotions and the relationship they have developed without knowing it.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review!

I received an ARC of this book and this is my voluntarily, honest review of it.

After reading the blurb, I didn’t know what intrigued me more, the fact that it was a slow burn story (I enjoy those) or the fact that it was about a hot nerd (I love them too) or the fact that the male character had created a DNA dating app!? There were enough things in the blurb to make me curious about this story.

‘Easy love’ is an easy to read story. Readers who have read the ‘Wicked’ series will recognize Rena, she’s Haley’s best friend. But if you haven’t read those books, don’t worry. You can absolutely read ‘Easy love’ without reading the other books first. The story is told in both POV’s.

I really loved the interaction/chemistry between Rena and Wesley. Rena was this social, intelligent, sassy girl and Wesley was a total nerd (very intelligent, obsessed with his science and not so social). Their views on love and relationships were totally different from each other but that made this story so very interesting. And it may be a slow burn romance but that didn’t mean that there weren’t a few hot scenes in it. I enjoyed this story.

My thanks to the author, the publisher and NetGalley for an ARC of this novel in exchange for an honest review.
This was a very well-written adult romance. Wes is an aspiring academic, looking for tenure at a good college when he meets Rena (whose father is on the board of directors of Baden College, where he currently teaches.) Rena is in marketing and helps Wes build a campaign for a new dating ap he designed. The road to true love is a rocky one, especially when Wes seems to be willing to set aside his feelings for a potential teaching position in a Seattle University, leaving any chance for a relationship with Rena behind. I enjoyed the excellent writing, and the realistic issues facing these two likeable characters. I rate this a 3.9 out of 5.

From the moment Rena lays eyes on Wesley, she’s itching to see what’s beneath his dry and very scientific exterior. When he asks her to help him launch his DNA dating app, she should say no. She’s a hot mess what with dropping the ball at work and dealing with her own family drama. But she can’t resist. The more she’s around him, the more he’s getting under her skin. They’re complete opposites yet she can’t help but wonder if they’re perfectly matched. If only Wes would tell her if her DNA matches his. . .

I’m a big fan of Piper Lawson and when I read the blurb, I knew I needed to read it. I begged, no pleaded, for an ARC and I won one. Score! Ladies and gentlemen, if you love romance, Easy Love is for you. Easy Love has a heroine with a pet skunk who thinks she’s got it made when it comes to love but upon closer inspection, hasn’t a clue. Then there’s a geeky hotter than hot hero who’s still reeling from the death of his father and trying to get his life back on track. Nothing easy there but Rena somehow makes his day a little brighter. Realistic characters like these two make this book worth reading. Hilarious dialogue with just the right amount of snark. Interesting plot twists and an ending to make your heart leap make Easy Love a must read for all romance fans!

I should probably pimp this book here...

But this is not a ‘pimping’ book. It’s not that scene from Titanic (anyone else old enough?) where they’re standing, arms spread, on the front of the boat and the music crescendos and all I can think is ‘how is no one hurling into the Atlantic right now?!’

Three words to describe EASY LOVE (and yes, I wrote it): 1. Awkward. 2. Slow burn. 3. Real.

💋 For anyone who’s gone out with friends on a Saturday night and ended up going home with one of them? This is your book.

💋 For anyone who’s thought “I don’t know if I want to date this guy but I can’t get him out of my head…” This is your book.

💋 For anyone who’s thought “I’m a hot mess, maybe I if I just ignore this whole dating thing I’ll wake up at 35 in bed married to a Hemsworth so I have someone to do my taxes with?” This is your book.

Wes and Rena are messy and fumbling and sexy and real. If that is what you need today…

This is your book. And here’s where you can find it:

Geek meets party girl. That was my first impression, but as with most things, there’s a lot more to it than meets the eye. Wesley Robinson loves his job. He lives his job. Science is his dream, and Rena Crawford is going to help him achieve it. With a DNA dating app of all things. An app that Rena happily tests, in the interest of research, to help her figure out the best way to market it, much to Wes’s chagrin. I mean why does it bother him so much. They have absolutely nothing in common (well apart for their mutual love of movies). Wes doesn’t do hook ups. Rena only does hook ups. Yet they have an instant chemistry, no matter how much they want to deny it. I loved Wes, he makes nerdy sexy. Rena and her twisted family add to the story. Everyone loves to hate a villain, and I think I found one in Rena’s dad. Why can’t some parents let their children live their own life? A quick, fun, sexy and addictive read. Great characters, great writing (dual POV), and a great story. I’m looking forward to more in this series. I received an advanced copy of this book from the author. This is my honest review.

I received an ARC of this to read. My first ARC ever!! I was so excited. I think, though, that I was supposed to have this review in sooner. Insert hand on face emoji here.

See, the problem was that I was already reading a book when Lawson sent me the ARC. It was a really good book, too. BUT I decided to take a pause on Travesty by PIPER LAWSON (yes, I was in the midst of reading her back log) to start Easy Love.

I didn't realize it was Rena's story. I looooved the Good Girl series, so when the opportunity for an ARC of Lawson's new book came about I just signed up. I never in a million years thought I'd actually get one. Blogs get ARCs. Other authors get ARCs. Well known reviewers in the indie romance world get ARCs. Not little ole me. I went into the book blind and became ridiculously excited when Scrunchie made his first appearance

If you read anything I've reviewed lately, you will know that I read on the train to and from work each day. The following things happened while reading this book:

1. I missed my stop in the morning and was late to work because I was mid sex scene when (apparently) we stopped at my station.
2. I cried on the train. In public. Next to some lady playing games on her phone.
3. I had "stomach issues" as soon as I got to work today so I could finish reading this book in the bathroom... and cried a little bit more.

I loved getting more Rena. She was a solid side character in the Good Girl series, but you didn't really learn much about her background. Lawson created a full, rich backstory for her in Easy Love. She wasn't a thrown together character.

Wes, her love interest. It was clear who he was initially, but he felt dry. By 42%, I was laughing at his dry humor. I thought that was very crafty of Lawson. She brought two opposite people together in a way that not only made sense, but was non-traditionally romantic as fuck. She took two different people, who not only had different backgrounds but personalities as well, and she created a scenario where there was no way they could NOT fall in love. As well, the issue between them that made the relationship not work at one point was not over the top or overly mundane.

This book is about feelings. I don't know what the hell I'm feeling sometimes, thus I found it impressive that Lawson was able to create such believable feelings for our characters and articulate them so well.

The pace of the book was great. In general, Lawson does not drag out scenes unnecessarily. I could have used more, but only because I wanted to stay in Wes and Rena's world longer.

I will wrap up with something I've written before about Lawosn's books. She creates heroines who aren't stupid or naive, are strong but not brash, and have brains that rival their beauty. She brings scholastic topics into books in a way that makes me want to pursue higher education. That's what readers in the age group of her characters need--to know that smart is sexy and strength doesn't have to be bitchy.

Now, let's talk about Jax and Haley's wedding... Ms. Lawson, chop chop, honey. Mama needs the goods.

Lawson makes it easy to find humor in the moments that aren't always funny. Easy Love is a smartly written look at the embarrassing moments. Wes wants everything to be just right. What happens when the man with a plan encounters a glitch that could ruin it all? Rena is the disruption he couldn't have predicted. She throws every idea he has off course. Can the dreamer and the realist meet in the middle of the chaos? Sometimes we tend to forget that it's the imperfections of life that make our existence interesting. Easy Love uses a heartwarming tale and an unforgettable couple to make sure we don't forget.

This is the kind of slowburn that I love to read! Easy Love was my introduction to Piper Lawson and I've got to say that I'm ready to read every book she's ever written.

The characters were complicated, interesting, and experienced great character growth throughout.

Our first interaction between the H and h left me with mixed feelings toward Rena, but she grew on me the more I got to know her. It was a hilariously written meet-cute filled based on a misunderstanding that the heroine thought it was a date when it really was a business proposition!

Wes and Rena might seem like an unlikely couple, but they are perfectly imperfect together.

Also, how funny is it that Rena has a pet skunk? So weird, but it totally fit with her character.

Hilarious, smart, heartfelt, and well-written.

Wes is just real appreciative of his woman's assets, "Wes drags my tank top up and off my arms. Then pulls back to look at me. “Whoa.” His voice is reverent and a little stunned. I have good boobs." I liked this book, I liked Wes.

Easy Love: A Modern Romance
Piper Lawson
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was such a fun, sweet, uncoordinated and sexy story. I absolutely adored Wes Robinson. He reminded me of Sheldon Cooper. The whole science geek thing really worked in this book. He cracked me up with his unco look on life and women. But he needs help with a dating app, and being set up with Rena from an agency to help sell it he’s going to get more than he bargained for. We’ve all heard the song opposites attract, well Easy love is the lyrics in a fabulous story.

Rena Crawford is in a struggling marketing job. Needing that one pitch to propel her into the good books with her boss. But a date set up from her friend, Jake, Rena meets a gorgeous man – all blue eyes, messy hair and no idea how to deal with women. In a embarrassing display she throws herself at Wes, leaving him shocked and her horrified to find out it wasn’t a date. But this uncomfortable meeting breaths life into a beautiful friendship, albeit strange and amusing.

While dealing with the death of his father, moving home to be near his mum and teaching at the local university he feels pulled down. Selling his dating app will fix everything, then he can return to his dream job as professor at Washington University. What he doesn’t take onboard is the woman who threw herself at him at a restaurant, awakening something deep within Dr Robinson. You’ll love this journey of worlds apart…. I can’t wait for more or to reread.

Another fantastic part of his story, wasn’t the words, it was the use of very cool graphics on each chapter page. Both the sexy pinning lips 💋 and 🧬 genetic chain was absolutely perfect for each character. Thank you Piper for yet another amazing story ♥️

**I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest voluntary review. All opinions are my own and not influenced by my source.**

Piper Lawson writes some of my favourite New Adult romances out there. She just has this great ability to write strong characters (especially her heroines) that also have vulnerability. I just find her stories are so genuine and realistic even if there is some drama along the way.

And that's exactly what we get here!

I loved how this romance built and took its time. Yes, these two have instant chemistry but those deeper feelings grow as the characters spend more time with each other and get to know each other. It was easy to see why they would fall for each other...even if they didn't think so. Their banter and interactions are a highlight of the novel. It was nice to see characters sorta date and fall in love; lots of books just dive in head first!

I think the thing I loved most about this story was the relatability of our two leads. The problems they encounter at work and in their personal lives will connect with the reader. And it really allows for some stellar character growth from start to finish.

My only downside: I would have liked some of the stuff at the end to be teased out a little. It made the character development seem a little lopsided because so much happens in the last few chapters.

Regardless, with a great flow, genuine characters you can't help but like and a realistic, modern approach to romance, this is a MUST for contemporary romance fans!

I have to admit, after reading the series about Haley and Jax, I was really worried this was going to be a cliffhanger. Thankfully, it was not.

Piper Lawson creates great characters, and this one, told from the dueling POVs of Wes and Rena, allows the reader to really get into their heads. She is particularly adept at describing feelings in a way that is both original, yet universal.

This was a great example of the complicated feelings anyone can have at the start of a relationship, particularly when that relationship has been building slowly over a period of time. I love this quote: “... Rena and I? We had sex. At my apartment. Yes, I'm saying it as if I deserve a medal because I feel as if I've done something momentous, but at the same time, I feel as though I would give it back because I'm honored just to have been considered.”

There were some very funny moments, like this one with Rena, lamenting something embarrassing: “My mother would've died, then come back to yell at me, then died again.” And this observation from Wes, when his mother wants to discuss feelings: “And there's a subject I want to get into as much as I want to drag my intestines out of my abdominal cavity inch by inch.”

I loved this book, and while I couldn't wait to get to the end, and Rena and Wes' happy ending, I was incredibly sad when it ended.

FANTASTIC!!! Easy Love is a romantic, fast-paced, light-hearted and funny book about the complexities of love in the modern age. The story follows Rena and Wes, total opposites who somehow complement each other perfectly. Rena comes from a wealthy family, she’s beautiful, funny and likes to have casual hookups. Wes is a total science nerd, who focuses almost exclusively on his research and doesn’t have time for a personal life. When the two meet, the circumstances are not ideal, but they have easy conversation and start to see the good in each other. As they begin working on a project together, they get to know one another in a way that neither expected, and they realize that perhaps opposites do attract.

I’ve never read a book by Piper Lawson before, but she has come up in recommendations from booksellers, so when NetGalley offered me an ARC in exchange for an honest review, I was excited to try this book. I am so glad that I did! The author mixes humor, romance and strong emotions seamlessly, making the story powerful without filling it with angst. I didn’t expect to connect with either of the characters, but they were so perfectly imperfect that it was impossible not to love them. The story flowed easily, and I found myself flying through the pages. I loved it and cannot wait to read more about characters introduced in the book!

No one writes what I call "smart" romance like Piper Lawson. Each time I read one of her books/series, I'm fascinated by the depth of knowledge that bleeds through, whether it's about gaming, fashion, music, or science. Either this gal knows about everything under the sun or she does a ton of research when writing a book. The end result is a wonderfully authentic story. Add to that two likeable yet struggling characters whose work and personal lives are realistically difficult and you get a book that grabs a hold of you from the very beginning and keeps you intrigued until the very end. Wes and Rena have a hilariously awkward first meeting, then become friends, and then end up balancing each other out so well. Although their path to love is anything but easy, the hard-earned HEA is so satisfying that you'll forgive the author for that smart-alecky title. ;-) My only complaint is that Scrunchie didn't have a bigger starring role. Hmmm...maybe Ms. Lawson should consider writing a children's book on Scrunchie's adventures.

Rena has an amazing energy and spirit but work is kicking her pretty hard. When her friend Jake sets her up on a date, she isn’t sure what to expect. Wes’s world has flipped and all he plans are in turmoil. He reaches out to Jake to find a way to sell his app and he connects him with Rena. Ah yes, the misunderstanding business meeting/date begins an unlikely relationship. Rena likes the nerdy scientist and knows he needs help so she takes on the challenge to help him sell his app. Wes is shocked by how much Rena’s spontaneity shakes his world. Can this unlikely pair find a path to love? Loved going on this journey with Rena and Wes as they helped each other realize some hard truths about each other and that love can be easy along the way. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.

This book hit every check box for me. Sweet...check, Slow Burn...check, Sexy Nerd...CHECK! OMG I never wanted it to end and the way Piper writes these characters, as if the reader knows them personally and is right there with them through the whole story, I Love That. She makes them Easy to Love...hahaha, pun intended. I also appreciated the Haley and Jax update and last but certainly not least a big shout out to Scrunchie, you gotta love that skunk. Now I am eagerly awaiting the next book in this series...Squee!!!

I just loved this book so much. It offers up a slow burning romance that will make you laugh, swoon, smile and have your heart melting. The chemistry between Rena and Wes was absolutely atomic. The story line cleverly blends cute and sweet with heat, then adds outrageous, cringeworthy moments that come across as painfully realistic and for some of us totally relatable. A totally terrific read! This is my forthright review that I am posting of my own accord.

I enjoyed this story way more than I thought I would-- being that I thought it was a typical romance book with a typical trope.
So while this is along the lines of beauty and the nerd, I loved how Lawson wrote Wesley Robinson's (nerd) character. She did her homework/research. I haven't come across a character like him who was written with intelligence and also didn't demean his intelligence as something not attractive or something that many would be intimidated by or would mock. Equally so, she wrote Rena's (beauty) character with some edge and smarts so that she wasn't just a pretty face. Wes and Rena weren't stereotypical. The banter and chemistry between these two characters was fun to read. A perfect match because of their opposing personalities. Easy Love had a great balance of humor, sexiness, and a little bit of angst. I also really enjoyed the slow burn and that every page wasn't filled with gratuitous and often times boring sex scenes that really didn't build the story.

Rena is a fun loving woman, trying hard to get the recognition in her job at an advertising agency. She hasn't been there that long and still trying to prove her worth.

Wes gets to meet Rena under unusual circumstances and a complete misunderstanding. This doesn't stop their blooming friendship. The pair are complete opposites.

Plenty of giggles along the way with this very quirky friendship, who both end up with more than they bargained for. Some strong heart felt moments that you don't see coming. Overall great story. Nice catch up with some characters from other books.

I was crushing on Wed from the start! I don’t know how Piper Lawson does it but she writes amazing characters that you are either instantly smitten or are wishing they were your BFF! The chemistry between Wes and Rena was insane! The slow burn, then sizzle turned inferno gave me all the feels!! So glad to see Haley and Jax again!

I loved the story although I did find it tough slogging through the first bit with all of the scientific words 😊. I loved how Wes and Rena‘s relationship developed, the way that Wes understood Rena from a scientific viewpoint but then from a ‘human’ one as well. This story brought a smile to my heart.

I was lucky enough to get an ARC of this book. It's a great and fun read. The characters were interesting and likable. I like Wes a lot. I love his deadpan humour especially. I laughed out loud countless times at his one-liners. I like that Rena is smart AND beautiful AND sassy. Their dialogue sparkles. :) I love the happy ending too. I was sad when the book ended because I like the characters so much.

Loved this book, the story of Wes and Rena

He is a scientist and doesn't believe in falling in love. She is in PR. They are both total opposites, and as they start to spend more time together they realise that opposites do attract.

A quirky and entertaining read.

I absolutely loved Wes and Rena! Wesley has developed a dating app that he wants to market and sell. His friend Jake sets him up with his friend, Rena, to help him market it. Only Rena thinks it’s a date and wants to skip to the sex part of the evening! These two could not be more polar opposites than they are, but they explode with chemistry. Can these two find love in their DNA? Loved reading their story! 5 stars

This was just as fun and witty as Piper Lawson's other books. I loved following Serena's story and seeing Hailey and Jax pop up halfway through. I loved Wes. He was a perfect nerd who was also thoughtful and a man who had restraint. This book was a fun ride.

Eh as much as I liked Serena’s character from the Wicked series I’m a little disappointed with how her story panned out. I think the epilogue could have been a little more set in the future. But I liked Wes and overall I liked their story. I’m glad it was resolved in one book and not spread out through 3 like the last series. It’s a quick read too.
