Not only is the writing appalling, but the plot is inconsistent (suddenly halfway through the book it goes from the characters being in the 90s to suddenly having access to Instagram and the main villain being sentenced in court THE MORNING AFTER BEING ARRESTED), under researched (do you even KNOW what military prison even is?), the characters are stereotypes and there is such poor handling of sensitive issues including this (incredibly unnecessary) subplot of a young man figuring out his sexuality. And what was with all the slut shaming? Is the author projecting some self loathing here? It was only 90 pages but it sure felt a hell of a lot longer. I swear I lost IQ points reading it. Thank you for reading.

An edgy thriller set in a fictional beach town in Queensland. Christopher Haslow has it all, money, good looks and a fun life in a trendy beach town. His twin brother Carl has nothing, is poor and lives in a tiny boring town. The two brothers are not close. Then Christopher meets Joshana. Gorgeous, mysterious, seductive and fiery, Christopher is smitten by her and can’t get her out of his mind. When a stalker pursues Christopher, Christopher’s world is turned upside down. Can the two brothers resolve their differences in time to prevent Christopher from getting killed? I really enjoyed writing this book; I’m 2/3 of the way through the sequel ‘Coconut Beach’. The characters in this book are in their early 20’s, the age I was when I started writing this book. I took a 16 year break in the middle of writing it. In the sequel they’re in their early 40’s which is about the age I am now, and most of them have kids. In the original book, the book appears to conform to stereotypes but really smashes them. A beach read with twists and turns.
