The day of the sports tests has arrived once more, and this time, Nishikata is determined to achieve victory over Takagi-san for sure! After last year's disappointing defeat, he's spent every spare moment training for his chance at revenge! If he's able to come out ahead, Takagi-san will be forced to stop teasing him...which is what Nishikata wants, right...?

3.5 star
We’re back in the comfortable groove of Takagi-san, though it remains in danger of wearing that groove into a rut if it isn’t careful. Still, it wouldn’t be the first book that’s survived entirely on its charm.
The usual competitions are back in full force - I sorely felt the loss of the brilliant ‘Sneeze’ chapter from last volume, which set a standard that this cannot hope to reach. Without that we are left with what the series has been doing literally since the first volume.
That said, there are some good chapters. The cookie one is full of a lot of sweet moments (ahem) and the April Fool’s story turns into a bit of a truth telling session that moves our duo just a smidgen closer together. It’s still fun and as breezy as always - this is the kind of manga you can just curl up with and know you’ll enjoy.
However, there is a misstep in this volume in the first story that you might be fine with, but left me cold. At first I thought it was a weird dream sequence, since we haven’t done any flash forwards in a while, but then I realized we were seeing Nishikata and Takagi’s child (spoiler for what has been patently obvious for a while now).
Which is fine in itself, but it’s a role reversal story that shows she is as bad as her dad at this sort of thing. This is just a story of her being picked on and outwitted by the boy she likes and it’s... yeah.
If anything, this is proof of concept for the series because having the guy being the too clever by half one and lording it over the female feels a lot less palatable and downright tantamount to bullying. It’s a change that really doesn’t work for me and a bit of a rough foot to lead with.
3 stars. It’s a good volume of the series, but it’s lacking the flourishes of its best stories and that starting story seriously brought my mood down.
Starting with a character swap in the beginning, I enjoyed the stories in this volume. Cookies and April Fool’s Day were fun, but my favorite was the punchline of Box. The best art was in April Fool’s Day and Fishing. It’s a good volume. After ten volumes, however, I need to see their relationship improve.
It is a cute story, it is not as long as the other volumes.
It was very cute, well written, it was just too short, there did not seem like there was not as many chapters in this volume as there were in the others.
The introduction to a friendly dog and possible fears, yet there's a lot of instances of the two getting closer. I like that both can admit that they enjoy their time together and hope to be in the same class next year. The growth from the beginning to now has been fun to watch.
