Separated by an almost unimaginable gulf in space, Princess Kelsey Bandar and Admiral Jared Mertz must fight to stop the diabolical artificial intelligences that destroyed the Old Terran Empire.
Though unable to communicate with one another, they must overcome terrible odds and defeat foes determined to kill or enslave them. They cannot allow themselves to fail.
Yet time is running out. Unless both quickly make their way to Terra, the computers win and humanity loses.

#1 Bestselling Military Science Fiction author Terry Mixon served as a non-commissioned officer in the United States Army 101st Airborne Division. He later worked alongside the flight controllers in the Mission Control Center at the NASA Johnson Space Center supporting the Space Shuttle, the International Space Station, and other human spaceflight projects.
He now writes full time while living in Texas with his lovely wife and a pounce of cats.
Another good read, but I am starting to become a bit annoyed that the books don’t seem to wrap up a complete story line in the saga. The books are starting to read like a set of chapters out of one huge book, and don’t wrap up their sub-stories at the end of each.
Race to Terra takes the Empire of Bones series even deeper into the Rebel Empire in the search for a means to end a desperate war against the AIs that subjugated galactic civilization. This book follows both Jared’s mission to seek out Terra and Kelsey’s escape from Dresden, so the plot moves very quickly. I can’t think of many science fiction novels with character development as effective as in the Empire of Bones series, and Race to Terra takes this excellence to new heights. Terry has come up with some brilliant ways to tie the expanding Empire of Bones universe together in this installment while blending reminders of important plot points from prequels into the narrative. The challenges left for Jared at the end of this novel promise to explore some interesting new territory, so I’ll be anxiously awaiting the sequel. I received a free advanced review copy in exchange for my unbiased review.
I love how Terry takes different people with different views and makes allies and even friends with them. People that are on opposite sides of a battle could still connect, and Terry shows that. Of course these people are ones that are not drastic in their thinking, but even those that are brain washed have been shown the truth. I love this blending as it gives hope to all.
Terry's character growth feels natural and believable as I listen to his story. I don't feel that anything comes out of the blue as it evolves. There are leads to the points in these characters lives and emotions that feel human. I love how he writes these characters. And the small jokes that are made by characters is awesome, they draw in something we know to a futuristic space story.
Alternate Universes. I haven't read any other books in this series. I was gifted book 10 in audio. That being said, I really enjoyed this book. It alternated between Kelsey and Kelsey #2, a doppelganger from another universe. Their personalities similar, but different because of the life events that transpired for each of them. This is military Sci-Fi, as well as some hard Sci-Fi, as they explained the communications process with good detail, and I found the way they were able to communicate from one side of the galaxy to the other very interesting. I enjoyed the tale and look forward to picking up more titles by this author in the future.
Terry once again weaves a good yarn in his empire of bones saga working to reunite the two main protagonists as we see them make enemies and allies as they finally get to the sol system and Terra, my only complaint is that is too short, leaving me wanting to read the next book like a Netflix binge, if you have liked the previous entries you'll love this one (full disclosure I did receive a free arc in return for an honesty review, but I also purchased the book as well)
After book seven Behind Enemy Lines I lost interest in this series and completely ignored book eight. Unfortunately having picked up the series again with book nine, it seems some weird things happened in book eight. This book alternates between Kelsey and Jared and Kelsey number 2, which I found very strange. I really don’t like stories based on ‘alternative universes’, the logic never bears close examination and as a storyline I always feel it’s a bit of a ‘cop out’. Having tried to get back into the series I’m afraid I am now giving it up for good.
First, this is the fifth time I've listened to this series and I still love every second of it. This novel is another winner from Terry Mixon and Veronica Giguere! This series one I love and revisit like an old friend, if you haven't checked it out, you're missing out! I can't wait to read the next book in this series, Terry is one of my auto-buy authors and he could be yours too if you give him a chance! Hopefully the author can give up sleeping and eating so I can read the next one! It has a lot of action, and adventure and some cool plot twists I didn't see coming!
First off I will say that I am honoured to be a member of Terry's ARC team. That been said once again he has give the readers a great books. We see that Kelsey Bandar and Admiral Mertz, are working there way towards Terra. But they will first have to deal with issues on their own areas of space. But once they arrive can they find the missing codes and return back to their own space. I am looking forward to seeing the next book.
This is a fabulous book! I love the Empire of Bones series! Such a great universe that Terry has created! Incredibly well written with great characters, story line, action and dialog! I highly recommend checking it out!
I thought this book progressed the story better than the previous two in the series. I felt like Jared and Kelsey's teams finally accomplished something and moved closer to taking down the evil AI lords.
Gets a little high with extremely convenient situation and considerable amount of luck. Lots of lanterns hung here. Still an enjoyable read for the most part.
Another great book in the series, I’m always looking forward to seeing the adventures of Chelsea and Jared and I can’t wait for the next one to come out.
Everything i was waiting for and more, i was really getting into it then it ended.....Gutted but it was great while it lasted,, Fantastic narration Fantastic series, i need more
Terry Mixon does it again. One of the best series that I have enjoyed reading. Kelsey and her doppelganger discover each other exist. Fantastic fantasy to read!
At this point the book is not simply made up entirely of boring filler but repeatedly recycled boring filler that had already been used multiple times before.
