Light-years away, humans have spread throughout the solar system and are forging ahead towards the stars. When the International Space Force's secret starship propulsion program goes wrong, Morgan Greenfield, a teenage rally-car racer from Arizona, is flung into deep space. Not content to sit on the sidelines, Morgan and his friends vow to do everything they can to assist the crew of the Sagitta in hopes of seeing Earth again.

I'll keep it short, you should be reading the book, not this review. If you like YA and you like SciFi, then you'll probably like this. The protagonist actually acts like a real teen instead of instantly becoming a caricature of a cookie-cutter space cadet. It is by no means perfect, but it is very promising start from a new author and I'm excited to see where the story goes. Give it a try and make sure to support the author with an honest review.
Very good storyline...well said. Enjoying this series and I am looking forward to the next book. Characters are real and easy to like. Like how the two storylines suddenly become one.
The beginning is intense, first with a space battle and then on another world, an extreme sports vehicle race. There’s an accident and one car ends up outside the racetrack. Our “hero” stops his car on the field, near the wall, to render aid. Good? Not exactly, and certainly not a smart move when he leaves his race car ON the track and rides back with the EMS. The story gets too unreal at that point to continue. No driver would do that. No certified EMS team would take a rider like that at a race track. Later, Morgan (our questionable hero) sits around for an hour, waiting on the injured Liz with nary a thought or concern for his race car abandoned on the field? And then when Liz, the injured driver from the first accident, drives his car to Morgan where he sits in the stands - he gets angry! Bull crap! And with that bit of insanity what I thought could be an interesting storyline became just so much drek and nonsense.
I liked it. Not sure about the few telepathy bits but overall good characters and good action. The sequences of events once the ISF came into the picture that resulted in the “big bump” was kinda sketchy and there are plenty of loose ends awaiting cleanup and book one ended in a hopeful way. Ranking: definite maybe!
This is a good book. It has great characters a good story and good excitement. The only thing that is keeping from being an excellent five star book is that it has profanity in it. The only thing that profanity really does is distract from the story.
Great book! I'm really looking forward to the next one!
I would recommend this to all adult and young adult readers who enjoy the thrill of space exploration. I especially recommended for those who dream about the excitement of First Contact with those who are not of this world!
I did enjoy this book. I found the characters compelling and the action was pretty good. The only problem was that even with the cliff hanger at the end of the book I just didn’t like it enough to get book 2. There are just too many other books I’d rather read.
I'm not going to leave a rating since I wrote this and i'm obviously biased. But, I'm interested to know what you think.
Sagitta is a space opera sci-fi adventure novel. The target audience is anyone who loves a good adventure in space. If you like Star Trek or Star Wars novels, or even down-to-earth adventure novels (think Dirk Pitt), then you might enjoy this book. It has a teenage protagonist, but it's not specifically geared at young adults. I recommend readers be 13+ years old due to some graphic content and PG-13 language.

About me:
I'm an engineer, photographer, and writer living in New England. I have been writing science fiction and fantasy since 2005, and some of my short stories have been traditionally published. I chose to self-publish this book, but I made every effort to make it indistinguishable from traditionally published fiction books. You can read about that whole process at www.starfightersf.com.
Nice beginning of a series, yes it's a YA scifi and military action book. I happen to like those books, set in the future no premise, believable characters. Written well enough to want to root for the main people in the story. Try you might like it! Lol
